The 21st Season of Shark Week has begun! Did anyone else catch the special Mythbusters last night? I'm really looking forward to this year's offerings, and tonight I'm so conflicted! The new Paranormal State on A&E comes on at the exact same time as "Day of the Shark". Tonight I'm probably going to end up watching Discovery channel starting at 6pm (CST) when all the shark shows start and then switch over for new Paranormal State.

I'm hoping I'm not the only Biology nerd on here who considers Shark Week an official holiday.

Also, does anyone play SharkRunners on the Discovery Site? I just joined up this season, wish I would have done last season. I'm researching with the Piermont group, doing pretty good so far. I just started last night and already I've got 6 Accomplishments: Beginner and Apprentice SharkRunner, Attentive, Devoted, Lightning Reflexes, and Trainer (My Diver just hit Stamina of 20!)

I haven't (yet) played SharkRunner, but I do hold Shark Week as a pretty sacred event.

When Shark Week was new, I was very excited. Sharks were cool and I was young. After 20 years, I really wonder what the hell there is to know about sharks that I don't already know (and here's the important part) AND CARE ABOUT.

ROFL Nautilus That's great...considering the show on right now is about the jumping sharks off Seal Island.

I would definitely reccomend Sharkrunners. It's not crazy addictive, since everything runs in real time, and you have to spend a bit of time letting your team rest up unless you keep sacrificing them... lol Like I do. Kari's eaten two of my researchers so far and Jr got a young diver. I love Kari anyway. Just because it's a shark with the same name as my baby sister. =P I've only got two more areas of research to hit before I've gotten info on the "complete shark" on Rainebow2. What an awful name for a shark. Ugh.

Rainebow2? lol

I went ahead and signed up (or am trying to...it's been 8 minutes and it's still Authenticating me). I like the real-timeyness and all that. We'll see if this miserable hunk of junk I dare call a "computer" decides to be friendly today.

Ya, so anyway...viva la shark! I never get tired of the buggers, despite me having a slim chance of being dismembered by one, one of these days. But what's a little loss of limb among friends? Or...more like...among a slightly waterlogged human who really likes sharks, and a massive predatory fish who thinks it's just found a tasty sealmeal. :X

Awesome! The game is a little buggy sometime, but be patient. It's uber awesome.

Which organisation did you sign up with? I chose 'Fin', for some reason. *is still getting Authenticated xP*

I'm with the Piedmont group. We're only half enemies! The other group is whoopin both our butts.

Is anyone watching Surviving Sharks tonight? It's the Survivorman guy only....sharks! So far really awesome. It looks like we're not far along from a material that can protect against puncture wounds in a shark attack for the big sharks.

Shark Week, huh?

*Goes looking for it one the Discovery Channel website*

Well, I've registered and rarin' to go. The problem is, now Hotmail won't let me check my mail. Ugh. x__x

EDIT: Hard-core Ecology FTW. I'm already in this field of study, anyways. :p
