Security has been increased in airports and at the borders, why not in bus depots? Passengers are not checked for weapons of any sort on their person. What do you guys think about this and possible changes in store for future travel on bus routes?

I've traveled several times on the bus between the States and Edmonton, the fact that something like this has happened sadly enough doesn't surprise me. Every station I've been through doesn't have metal dectors, luggage is just transfered from one bus to another with only a check for weight.

I don't think I'll balk at flying anymore, despite the cost.

The way a bus station is set up, and the fact that some greyhound stations are no more than a bench outside of a convenience store that sells tickets (small towns are often like this) makes tighter bus security a bit more difficult to carry off. If any change is going to be implemented, it would have to be a drastic full system overhaul. I don't see it coming any time soon.

Well, the only buses I ever take are intracity buses, not things like Greyhounds... but let's just say that I'd feel safer on a coach bus than I would on the TTC, and I never worry for my safety on the TTC. Ergo, I think they're safe.

Buses are miserable experiences. I'm never taking a bus again if I can help it. Unsafe, uncomfortable, and prone to being incredibly late.

Better off taking the train.

I take the GO bus between 'Sauga and Toronto then TTC when I'm downtown bringing dinner to my mom when she's working nights. I've never felt any danger on the bus mostly because I'm usually with a friend, and I wouldn't sleep on a public bus. So yeah I find them safe.

Personally, I'd fear being pushed onto the tracks in the subway.
