I found this link (http://gawker.com/tag/books/?i=5021484&t=accused-scam-literary-agent-sues-entire-internet) while looking for literary magazines that publish short stories. As a synopsis, apparently this woman called Barbara Bauer whose under the guise of a literary agent is one of the biggest scammers around. Big news, right? Well, as it turns out, everybody has found out her sully reputation for leading people down the rosy path and she has taken measures to fight to preserve her name and livelihood.
So what's she doing? She's suing the internet.
Okay, maybe not the whole internet but this woman has filed law suits against 19 websites and even wikipedia and youtube bloggers. I really have no standpoint on this issue other than the ridiculous nature of it all. I mean, when I heard about this I had found it at the bottom of a magazine site that was raising money in a defense fund against this woman.
Apparently it's big news.
Anyway, what do you guys think? This woman is obviously going to be tieing up a lot of businesses with this public spectacle, and that's if the judge presiding over the case doesn't throw it out to begin with. Even if it doesn't last the entire trial, we're talking about hundreds of dollars being poured into lawyers, court fees, etc. while she has her little parade.
It almost seems like Barbara Bauer is trying to be the Jack Thompson of the literary world.
