I have a question for you. What do you dream about? it can be a day dream, dream you one day want to make reality, a dream dream(you know, the one with sleeping?). I dunno, my dreams have just been confusing the hell out of me for the past few days, and I'm being an idiot and thinking about life and what I want to do with it, yadda yadda, and I'm just curious what's going through everyone else's head. So, group therapy session vibe aside, what are your dreams? And honestly, do you ever get confused by them, or doubt them, or have you ever just been at complete conflict cause of them? And say you were. How'd you get out of it?

If you want to look back into this, there has already been threads with a similar topic:
http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=11031&highlight=dreams

And there was some thread about dream interpretations but I can't find it.

Well, I think this is a valid question now because it's been half a year since the last one.

I tend to see all my dreams as potential storylines to use. Actually, all my best stories come when I go to sleep. For some reason, my mind works best when it's exhausted or shut down.

If you need a dream interpretor, my contacts are in my profile. ;)

And to keep on topic, my dreams range from technopunk to extreme fantasy. Yes, I've even dreamed I was a girl (ohnoes) who works in a chocolate factory (ohnoes x2). Then there was that time I was part of a SWAT unit that was outgunned and outnumbered. I ended up getting shot in the head before waking up.

thanks for refering me back to that Zaga. will check it out.

and lawl XD i dunno, sometimes my dreams get so wacked I wonder what the hell I got high on before i went to bed(not that I do drugs...say no children!)

so mr. advent, what is the weirdest dream you can remember?

Mine is kind of hard to remember, but it involved Sansa Stark from a song of ice and fire, bob saget, a concrete maze, the type of stairs you would find in a Fischer drawing, a class of hufflepuffs, hourglasses, quicksand, and falling. and many colored cubes.

yeah.

Diagnosis: Too much Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. No kidding. ;)

As for my weirdest dream... Hmm... *suspicious glance*

I'd tell you here, but it's going to be published as a novel soon(ish). I can't have my ideas stolen from under my nose with only a few months to go.

>_>
<_<

Seriously.

I had a dream about a lavender-eyed panther sitting on a throne inside the Parthenon a while ago.

I used to have dreams along the lines of existing in an FPS game, complete with Half-Life's weapons and graphics and enemies. Then I matured a little and started dreaming in the exact same location over and over. It's gotten so frequent and stable that I can recognize it as an aggregate of three South Carolinian towns and a stereotypical portrayal of New York, complete with a little bit of Simon Green's Nightside lurking in the alleyways. Every now and then, if I'm too heavily absorbed in a fandom, my own characters will literally kick the offending series' characters out of my head (which is usually very flashy to look at).

For what it's worth, my dreams've been getting more and more clear and plot-filled lately, whereas they used to be pretty obscure and prophetic.

My dreams? Lots of falling, flying, and hitting the ground. Normally in that order.

I occasionally wake up after hitting the ground, and I'm almost always falling back onto my bed. It's creepy.

There are three dreams I manage to remember in lucid detail. Two recurring ones and one that was just silly. The strangest dream I ever had:
I needed to pick up a lamp from my great grandmother's house. An ex boyfriend of mine from my junior year of high school drove me there in his dad's pickup truck. When we got there, I opened up the shed door, and one of the feral cats that lived on the property shot out and went into the house. While Zack got the lamp, I went to go get the cat. I knew the house was empty and didn't want it to starve. As I stepped into the kitchen, Zack came up behind me and stopped me with a hand on my shoulder. He told me not to go in because there were ninjas in the house. I asked how he knew that and he pointed to a small office trash can with crumpled up papers sitting inside. He said, "that's a ninja trash can." We left the house and got into his truck. He backed down the driveway and turned the car away from the house to leave. I turned in my seat and looked back at the house. Sitting on the porch swing, there was the Shredder and a nondescript ninja swinging slowly, both of them with a glass of lemonade in their hands. A pitcher of iced lemonade was sitting on the porch railing. The light was hitting it just right and it seemed to glow. The Shredder waved at me as we left, and I stared at him until we turned a corner and I woke up.

I won't type out the recurring ones, because they're always just different enough that it would take forever for me to describe, but they always have the same characteristics. Both of them share the fact that they're very clear and I remember them really uncannily after I wake.

The one I have most often: I'm trapped inside a huge mansion with HUGE rooms. Most of them, except for bedrooms and bathrooms are ballroom size. Trapped in the house with me are sentient, thorned vines, a pack of Velociraptors, a Parasaurolophus that for some reason is a carnivore, and at least two, sometimes three T. Rexes. I run from the dinos and vines throughout the dream, and it always concludes with me hiding in a closet, listening to the footsteps of the raptors just outside the door as they're looking for me. The moment I think they're out of the room, I open the door, and come face to face with a drooling Rex. I scream, shut the door and hunker down on the floor of the closet as the Rex begins to ram the door with his head. As the wood splinters and starts to cave in, I'm sobbing and my heart feels like it's seizing up. Then I wake up. I never go back to sleep after these dreams.

The less common and far more enjoyable recurring dream is also about dinosaurs. I dream that I'm a Velociraptor and I'm running through the jungle with my pack. We're almost always hunting a human being, and one of the other packmates tries to get the good meat from me after we've kill it. So I have to put the bitch down to establish dominance. I've woken up from this before with really strange bruises and scratches on my body that I can't explain, the taste of blood in my mouth and the sensation that my face is covered in something hot and wet, making me wonder if this is a dream at all, or an accidental shamanic walk. I have never hunted a human in these dreams that I didn't know. =D

Lol, Manda, that second one made me laugh actually, because years ago I used to have a dream very much along the lines of that - T-Rexes kept chasing me through a giant house.

I love my dreams. Especially in recent years, my dreams have always been very epic. Even if I'm only napping, I end up having dreams that seem to last the length of a movie, and they usually have extensive plots. And they always have an element of fantasy about them, naturally. I always remember them in vivid detail, so I try to write them down. Some of them are recurring, but they're always, always very grandiose and action-packed. :) I think it must be the animator in me looking for ideas for movies.

They're so long though, I can't remember them off the top of my head, but portions of my dreams have included a mission to blow up a chemical plant that was followed by a dizzying chase, finding an underground temple and rescuing prisoners from it, scaling a mountain that overlooks a vast, creature-infested lake, someone fighting an enormous monster-thing with fire in a tall, raucous colloseum, and searching for ghosts in this sci-fi looking university thing. It's never ME in the dreams; rather, I'm either watching it all as if it IS a movie, or I'm watching myself play a part in it.

Either way, I always enjoy my dreams, thankfully.

I had a really scary dream once, where an actual fully fledged Real Life demon like the sort written about in all the religions of abraham was attacking me choking me to death. I mean I was really being killed by it. In desperation I thought really hard, praying for help, and suddenly a ball of white light passed overhead as I passed out and saved me. I actually woke up hacking and coughing like I had been choked. It's the only dream I've ever had where to date I cannot tell if it was real or false.

It's also the only dream I was able to remember immediatly upon waking.

Most of my dreams I can't remember until several days later.

Hmm...

The other day I dreamed I was playing hockey with some old friends from school whom I was close too. This is odd because I don't play or even watch hockey. Incidentally, we won. I slammed a guy out of the goal and someone shot the puck in just before the game ended.

Let's see... One time I dreamed I was dropped into China with a Force Recon team during a war between the UN and China. Somehow I had every single detail of both the combat operation I was taking part in and the war itself including how it began, etc. I was outfitted in Woodland MARPAT, and carried an M16A4 with a vertical foregrip, rubber rail covers, and a 3-9x lighted Mil-Dot scope. The rifle and attachments were all flat black, no camouflage.

We were parachuted in, and I remember everything from the drop and firefight that ensued upon touching down. As I recall, it was a green (combat) operation to capture a small steel road bridge behind enemy lines. It seemed like we had four fireteams, sixteen Marines. At one point our support gunner went down with hits to his left leg and right shoulder. I grabbed his Mk. 48 Squad Automatic Weapon and proceeded to cover our advance to the bridge with suppressive fire. We made it to and across the bridge, and were mopping up the last of the enemy resistence when a light tank came rumbling down the road on the forested mountainside. That's when I woke up. I'm not even making this up, I actually remember all of that.

Last night I had a recurring dream... about me fighting bears.

First time I had the dream it was in my backyard, I beat this crazy mutant bear by ripping its shoulder out of the socket.

This time, it was in my house. I sprayed it with bear mace (where did bear mace come from? I know not), hit it on the nose then grabbed a pitchfork (???) and chased it outside.

Weird.

Yeah, those are usually the good ones. Except you feel weird in the morning.

I get hit by trains all the time. I twitch a ton when I fall asleep, and I have preliminary dreams until I twitch so bad I wake up (usually involves being beheaded, impaled, etc.).

I had this one dream where me and this imaginary girl and a bunch of random people went around a town that was a cross between my hometown and Oak Bluffs, Marthas vineyard breaking into empty houses and having orgies. Then stealing people's newspapers? Then there was a bear that chased a 7 foot tall black man across ocean park, punched him in the face, ate him, then came and tried to join the orgy. And we were like, "No. You're a bear. And you can't read these newspapers." And for some reason it made perfect sense.

When I was little I used to have this dream where I lived on the lightswitch of a giant function hall in a mansion, and with a thought I could transport myself through the wiring to the big chandelier in the middle of the room. The best part of this all is that the mansion was inhabited by He-man and his Masters of the universe crew. They had parties all the time with the thundercats. Skeletor and Mumm-ra would always try to crash, or come dressed in drag or in disguises, but it never worked because whenever I spotted them I had to make the lights flicker. I felt so important.

The thread I'm writing now, The Carnival of Lost Souls? Yeah, I had this lucid dream from which the whole thing is based. The dream itself came after hearing Nox Arcana's Album, The Carnival of Lost Souls. the events that happen in the thread, ALL OF THEM happened in my dream in one fashion or another.

It's just a matter of trying to translate the dream into something coherent and understandible.
