Siaphus Bleak
08-16-08, 11:09 PM
Name: Siaphus Siberius Bleak
Age: 35
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Occultist

Appearance:
Standing at a solid six feet and five inches, Siaphus' above-average height and thin form make him somewhat of a looming figure. His skin is pale, stretched tight over a gaunt frame, emphasizing high cheekbones and a jutting brow. Within his sunken sockets rest two vibrant blue eyes which, if they weren't so prone to darting about manically, would be nothing less than gorgeous. Most of his facial features are hidden behind a scraggly veil of tendril-like white hair, laying long and unkempt over his face and ever-present grin. Siaphus favors red clothing to the exclusion of all over colors, and is scarcely seen without his stylishly high-collared red cloak, and matching crimson top hat.

Personality:
Before he became the individual he is today, Siaphus was a man of great mental quickness and equally sharp wit. Sadly, only the frail husk of a great mind is left within the confines of this man's skull. In his altered state, Siaphus has become nothing short of a mortal fiend. His inability to hold back a laugh in the face of morbidity and apparent disregard of what is morally acceptable has given him a distinctly anarchic outlook on life. He shares this outlook with others through an unrelentingly manic grin and almost constant snicker. When faced with death, be it the prospect of his own or that of those around him, Siaphus reacts with excitement. When one devotes one's life to the understanding and manipulation of the dead, it's generally accepted that the idea of dying is no great horror. Siaphus takes this to heart and eagerly awaits the day he can perfect his craft from beyond the mortal coil.

History:
Siaphus was, still is, and forever shall remain, a scholar. From his earliest days to his most recent exploits, Siaphus has been nothing if not diligent in the pursuit and acquisition of knowledge. He considered all paths to enlightenment equal and viable and thus undertook a great number of travels to practice as many forms of sorcery, worship, and research as possible. In the end, his tolerance towards less than reputable forms of knowledge was his greatest mistake. When a sharp mind, eager to learn, is introduced to foul powers, the allure is far too great to resist. The day that Siaphus was shown the various forms of Occultism: Necromancy, Diabolism, and Cabalism to name but a few, his mind began to warp. Before long nothing else would do, he needed more secrets, more forbidden lore and dark knowledge. The ravages of such impure study have rendered him the horrible creature he is now.

Abilities:

-Necromancy (Average)
Siaphus possesses the basic ability to manipulate necromantic spells

-Diabolism (Average)
Siaphus understands a small portion of what is necessary to communicate with infernal beings.

-Cabalism (Average)
With the power of symbology and runic lore, Siaphus can emplace and use magical sigils.

Spells:

-Bleeding Touch (1/day) Two pressed fingers and a quick spoken word result in a rupture of tissue and muscle in the local area of contact. Blood vessels will burst, resulting in some minor internal bleeding and bruising, as well as a weakness of the affected muscle. This spell is rarely lethal, but it is painful, and useful as a combat advantage more than a means of dispatching a foe.

-Conjure Lesser Wraith (1/day) Summons a quasi-real entity of negative energy whose attacks cause damage to living matter, resulting in fierce pain and internal bleeding. After roughly thirty minutes of existence, the wraith's energy is expended, and it dissolves back into nothingness.

-Demon Augury (1/day) Grants Siaphus a lesser power of communion between him and a demonic entity, allowing him to learn some of his opponent's weaknesses or the location of something minor. The demon contacted is a fickle being, and may possibly mislead him if he sees fit or if Siaphus fails to pay proper tribute. The demon cannot enter or manipulate the world through this spell, he can merely communicate with Siaphus.

-Symbol of Pain (2/day) Siaphus can inscribe and emplace a rune which wracks subjects in the area with searing pains. Its effects are roughly that of a well-placed sword strike, but without physical scars or signs of affliction. Anyone remaining within its area of effect, or a soul unlucky enough to have it inscribed upon him, remains subject to the pain until it is removed or they leave the area. The symbol is rendered powerless after roughly thirty minutes of effect.

Your long knife may be made of steel, also I noticed that you don't have any fighting abilities with the knife. If that's not what it's for, then by all means you don't need one, just making sure you didn't forget it.

Symbol of Pain - causes 2x the amount of pain of an average sword wound.

Lesser Wraith - the Wraith may only stay in this world for up to half an hour or until he receives too much damage. (Amount of damage is left up to player disgretion.) Also, what exactly do you mean by attacks 'cell systems'? I assume living matter would just be the flesh.

Siaphus uses his knife mostly for utilitarian/ritualistic purposes, i.e. carving symbols. I've changed it to steel, added durations to the wraith and pain spells, and elaborated on demon augury, but it remains no more powerful than it was before. Hopefully that does it.

Half an hour is a little long to experience such pain from a simple symbol, especially since in reality most battles don't even last half an hour. Cut it down to two minutes, please and then you should be good to go.

The effects of the symbol aren't continuous when triggered, it only affects people within a very small radius around it, if they leave the pain stops immediately. They can simply walk a step or two away from it and they'll be right as rain. He uses it to ward areas and such, not necessarily for direct combat. It would be of no use as a way to deter an intruder if it lasted two minutes.

Ahh, well I trust you to use it well.
