Esmerelda

In retrospect, she shouldn't have gone to Jadet in the first place. Esmerelda was frozen in time, being transported to the gods only knew where. She had gone down to Jadet to explore, that being her current mission in life. With her programmer serving with the Aibrone monks, he was presently the only one that could change her mission directives, and he wanted to learn more about this strange new world.

Esmerelda was not of Althanas. The most advanced nation in the world couldn't match her degree of technical sophistication. That was perhaps why the Alerarians were intrested in Esmerelda in the first place. A pair of them spotted her close to Jadet. As she walked up with spikes protruding from her body, but no blood, they realised she had to be unusual, but simply wrote her off as a mage of some sort. But as her spikes retracted, they became more intrested, for she turned slightly to her side, revealing that where her arm was missing, was an advanced mechanical device of some kind. They knew they had to capture her for further study, when her mace morphed into her missing arm and re-attached with a click they could barely pick up.

The merchants knew an easy profit when they spotted it, and this particular pair found enough money easily silenced any morals they may or may not of had. So they followed her, and because one happened to be a very skilled magic user, froze her in a timeless second once she turned down a dark alley for purposes unknown to them.

Quickly they bustled her into a crate enchanted to be small outside and cavernous inside, and had her shipped to Alerar.

And that was all Esmerelda knew. She knew she was in a prison somewhere, but where exactly, she didn't know, aside from being in Alerar somewhere.

"Ahh, so I can see you can change your appearence at will. You were a pretty red haired woman with tight almost too small leather armor and green eyes. Now your a short fat ugly troll looking woman with browh hair and brown eyes. Your armor fitrs right though." The Alerarian scientist who was sent to the prison to investigate her said.

Esmerelda took in her surroundings. She was in a prison cell made exclusivly of Prevalida. Too strong for her to do anything too. She couldn't even eat it properly, yet. Beyond the cell was a wall that she surmised was made of granite, or some other such thick stone, and a common oak door with steel bands running accross it for reinforcement.

The scientist himself looked as most dark elves looked, with white hair and black skin having pointed ears. This one wore a grey silk suit with what was clearly a white stuffed shirt and a red vest. He even had a top hat and a long black cane, tipped with gold at either end.

"Who are you?" Esmerelda asked.
"My, such charming intelligence. One would almost accuse you of being a living creature. I am Dr. Enias Maril, one of the better scientists in all Alerar, if I do say so myself."

Rows and rows of iron-fenced cells had been carefully placed along the room, designed to be uncomfortable as possible to their occupants. They stretched not more than ten feet long and six feet wide, with nothing other than an old wooden bench and the sour smell of feces to serve as their decor. In the damp shadows of the prison the sound of dry groans seemed to become one, a single beast that spoke with the combined wailing and sorrow of their inmates... being trapped in such a shit hole was a real pain in the ass.

"Oh, would you all shut the hell up already!" The voice of a woman rose above the wailing, "I can't hear myself think with all of you fuckers sobbing like bloody mental cases!"

Among them there was one who hadn't lost it's sanity Fatina Reviinock, more notoriously known as 'The Crimson Lady.' She arrived not too long ago, having been trialed for treason after trying to recreate some of the powerful craft the necromancer Xem'zûnd had used to terrorize the neighboring nation of Raiaea.

For a wizard of her caliber, being in such position was beyond demeaning.

Inside her cell a dim light broke through the shadows for three seconds before vanishing back into the dark. The small flicker of ashes grew bright each time her pale lips inhaled the smoke of that fine tobacco, and quickly the prison's humid stench was replaced by the aroma of the burnt leaf. She could hear many of her partner inmates go berserk, wanting a small piece of the herb for themselves after suffering months of withdraw from their sweet addiction.

She had managed to acquired five precious paper cylinders through the smuggling underground among prisoners. Her provider had been pretty kind to her, offering three cigarettes for her armor plates, throwing in a lighter for releasing some of his male urges, and walking away with two less that what he had bargained, for a reduced tariff of only one serious beating.

It was good she did not have to give him another for the lighter, she was already covered in that aspect. From all the spells she might have once known, after being stripped from her Crimson Duraga, she can only preform the Plasma needle. It was a good skill for lighting tobacco in the dark...

"But it better help me get my ass out of here tonight..." Or she would have to face her death sentence tomorrow morning.

Fatina sat in the rasp surface of a bench, waiting, meditating about how, what, and when to carry out her great escape.

"Difficult to count on any of these bastards to keep their mouth shut if I try to use the needle to cut the steel," she whispered to herself, "they seem to have rusted enough for it to cut through, but I am sure the boys will want me to take them out for a ride..."

She braced herself as she exhaled the last puff of tobacco. After fighting the bars for a good half-and hour the prisoners eventually silenced, many of the collapsing in exhaustion, until the only thing left was the thick darkness, the sour stench, the cold of night, and the single whisper of a woman that sang:

"I'm fucked..."

Esmerelda sat in her cell, patiently waiting. Dr. Enias kept asking her questions, even threatened to withold vital energy and supplies from her. But she sat there, silent, and unhelpful. As he stormed out he cursed his superiors for not having better facilities ready for such a surprise. Esmerelda smiled as he left, things were getting quieter. Dinner had passed, and the guards inquired of her particular needs not wanting to cross their supeiors by damaging such a valuble artifact, and she ignored them as well.

Finally, the sun began to set, and the guards left her alone, foolishly assuming that since she was successfully brought in under complete secrecy no one would try to free her, or that she could escape from their prison. How wrong they were.

After she was left alone, she stood, understanding her sole objective was escape by any means neccessary. She melted into her liquid state, which wasn't really liquid at all, rather the swarm loosened up enough to lose their hold on her form. She slid on over to a crack in the wall that lead to an outside area. Sliming her way through it, slowly, she found herself in a sort of courtyard. She slimed through another crack, and found herself in a cell that contained a blond haired elf with shimmering green eyes.

Esmerelda had never met Fatina, and didn't stop to introduce herself as she reformed, her defensive spikes completly out.

"Pardon me, but my objective is escape, I seem to have gotten into the wrong room. I'm sorry to have bothered you." Esmerelda said. She spotted the rusted Iron bars and smiled. Though weaker than her steel strength, Iron was still consumable for her, and her favorite hair substance to make her hair with. She didn't eat any, but figuring the woman's release would buy Esmerelda some time, Esmerelda turned her head sideways as she bent for the lock, and bit it off in a couple of bites.

She went liquid momentarily, as she resumed her normal highly attractive form, choosing green hair and eyes, with green colored tight barely fitting leather, and black skin. This was pure strategy, for such a woman was bound to be memorable, and when the woman was never found again, Esmerelda would have nothing to worry about.

She stopped at several prisoner cells, and freed them as well from their iron cells, while purposely leaving others in. She cared not where the other prisoners went, but she followed from a distance, noting the direction they went, and turning off to side paths knowing the guards would focus on the largest grouping of escaping prisoners, while the ones remaining in their cells gave Esmerelda's description to the guards taking count. All Esmerelda had to do was slip out a crack in the outer wall, and she'd be free.

Having counted a minute's time, Esmerelda shifted her appearence to a blue scheme, having blue hair, eyes, leather, and light yellow skin, like an Akashiman. No one would be looking for the blue woman with yellow skin, they'd be looking for the green woman with black skin.

Fatina could feel the warmth of the extinguishing cigarette baking her lips as she looked but not stared at the wall, too troubled to be worried about anything other than her escape. After much meditation she could only see two solutions plausible from her position, either she tried to escape stealthily tonight, or pull some extraordinary crap once she where outside the wall, she didn't have the fire power to force herself out.

"Then again who would."

Her worries banished in a whim and her sleeping scenes recovered as a weird sound interrupted her thoughts. It was coming from the wall before her, at the beginning she did not think much of it, 'some sort of cockroach or other nasty bug' she thought.

She watched in awe, her eyes wide open and the filter almost falling from her taciturn lips, as she saw her bug permeate through the wall like liquid. In her life she had seen similar kinds of sorcery, some high-level polymorphic spells that had been used my the elders at the academy and by her twice at the most. Just another one of those many spells she had never really cared about, until now when she needed them most.

Fatina stuck a defiant pose against the intrusion as it began to assume a humanoid form. Her leg crossed before her and her shoulders where thrown back as she held the extinguished cigarette beside her ear. She very much doubted they would keep a prisoner this skillful in such a feeble place. Fatina was an exception since she was useless without her book. She could only assume one thing... One of the many Crown Wizards she had abused during her reign as the Rouge Madame had come to kill her off when she was most vulnerable and before the government got her head.

Nothing of the sot happened.

A woman materialized in front of her to explain her purpose.

"A prison break?!" She could only exclaim as the dark-skinned woman bit the lock off, setting the whole prison astray. Fatina did not hesitate as she stormed from her cell, just behind her savior who had just assumed a more elegant shape.

"Move it move it move it!" She stretched her arm as she ran through the cells, placing her fingers over the bars and using the plasma needle to break some of her mates free. Aiding this woman's plan was a priority, this woman had the potential to escape successfully, and Fatina was going to tag along as far as she could.

Fatina's own little plan didn't last long though, as she worried to follow the pattern of the inmates and tried to remember as much as she could about the prison's inner structures, she lost sight of her. Fatina did not stop though, she kept running through halls and halls, crossing other prisoners that ran with and against her path. Everyone in the desperately sought an exit as guards scrambled, but not many would find it...

IC: Esmerelda rounded a corner in her escape, shadowing the inmates but not directly trailing them. Up ahead she saw the very same woman whose cell she had seeped into earlier get cornered by a pair of guards. They looked like they were fresh from the academy, or wherever it is Alerarian guards come from. Esmerelda didn't really care one bit on the subject, but perhaps a meat shield to throw at the guards in case of trouble would be nice. She made sher her defensive spikes were out, and crashed headlong into the guards killing one on impact from the spikes and trapping the other beneath the first's body. Esmerelda retracted her spikes and got up.

"Keep up with me if you want to escape. You shadow the main group you don't outright follow them." Esmerelda snarled in her haste. She got up and took off running again, rounding corners and darting down side hallways, when she came to a window looking out at the main gate.

It was large, and fully enchanted. Esmerelda could spy large gears, and so surmised it was also mechanical. She couldn't fully comprehend blending magic with science, but the prospect interested her. If she was going to keep her meat shield, then she'd have to find a way to keep her nearby. No slipping through cracks anymore.

"Come on, we have to find the gate key, or gate keys. Otherwise, you aren't getting out." Esmerelda snapped. She was never nice when she was in a rush. She wasn't really angry or impatient, she currently lacked emotions period, but why waste precious seconds saying things in a nice manner? Esmerelda moved down the hall to where she thought the Warden's Offices were.

Dr. Enias Maril was roused from his bed as the alarms sounded. Fearful his prize might have escaped, he hurried to where she had been kept. He prayed she hadn't, for she was to be moved to proper facilities tomorrow. His heart fell when he found the cell empty.

"But how?" He exclaimed loudly, asking a question he didn't know the answer to.
"She had to have liquefied or in some manner changed her shape. I'll have to remember that after I catch her again. The Chairman won't be pleased, no not at all." Dr. Enias trembled, thinking of the head of the secret organization he belonged to.

He rushed out to try and use his limited skills to catch Esmerelda.

ooc: Sorry for the delay :x

It was not long before she was caught by a pair of guards who where crushed by a woman, that much like her liberator, had spikes mounted on her as an armor. Fatina would not sense a single thread of magic, or any remainder of a spell, she had always praised herself on her keen senses when it came to feeling magic. By now she had realized this woman's great shape shift potential. Her methods where complex, however. Either she kept her level of magic incredibly undetectable, or she was not a wizard at all.

'Demon? Chacal?'
She asked herself as she was carried away by the woman.

Fatina was not stupid, a creature of this woman's level of sophistication could most likely preform the escape all by herself. Why had she saved Fatina, if she where the one doing it she would have never bothered about helping those who cant save themselves. Fatina was an insurance.

"Hauling me like a dog! who do you think you are?" She barked as the woman pressured her to continue just after she had peeked out a window.

Suddenly they where on their way toward the Warden's Office. The ruckus of the other inmates slowly died down as they ran father inside the western isle of the prison. Some of the men should have been captured by now, and some others found a place to hide along the labyrinth of halls that created the prison.

Fatina stopped just before a corner, she knew that across the next hall they would find what they where looking for, and their defender. She was still digesting the bold way she was trying to escape that place, she couldn't believe she would put herself in such a situation inside the Warden's. But there was still a chance...

'If Crimson Duraga is in there, then they can kiss this damn shit hole good bye.'

"Wait" Fatina whispered, as she placed her arm across the woman's chest and peeked over the wall into the office's door.

"Before we go in there, may I know the name of whom pushed me to my death?"

Dr. Enias knew they's have to get the keys to get out. He also knew the prisoners wouldn't know of the shortcuts, so as Esmerelda and Fatina approached the Warden's office, he jumped out surprising them.
"AHA! I have you now. Come beautiful machine, the secrets you possess could help Alerar greatly. Why do you refuse me so?" Dr. Enias pleaded, while charging up a lightning bolt.

"I am a Warmachine of the highest caliber. I am not a research bot. I am designated Esmerelda, not beautiful machine. Now get out of my way before my swarm devours you." Esmerelda threatened, only partially bluffing.
She did in fact have the ability to devour organic material, and even merge with it, but these abilities were presently scrambled, and so she couldn't use them at present.

"Good to know." Dr. Enias growled with a smile, preparing to launch a lightning bolt only strong enough to stun.

Esmerelda knew he was going to launch an attack, so she waited until the very last minute, and then right as the lightning flew from his hands, she leapt to the side, dodging it.

"Curses!" Dr. Enias said.
"Keep him busy while I retrieve the keys." Esmerelda shouted to Fatina.

She ran around Dr. Enias who made a clumsy attempt to lunge at her. Dr. Enias was not the sort to be trying to physically force anyone, much less a machine, to do anything.

Fatina

Just as she had asked, her question was answered. Fatina was bewildered by her realization. In her life had she seen such a machine, she was almost sure she had some alchemy stuffed in her. Although she was a a little pissed too, 'If she was that great of a war machine she should just bust our asses out this place, even break that barrier outside,' Fatina though.

She didn't have more time to puzzle, however, as she fell to the ground after a bolt of light hit the the floor not too far away from her, missing Esmeralda as she raced for the keys, indicating Fatina to buffer the freak.

"My pleasure!"

What Fatina could tell out of the man's appearance was that he, belonged to the ones that operated the prison. Fact that would make it more enjoyable to beat him up. She clenched her knuckles, and channeled whatever was left of her magic in her hands, "It's going to be a pain pinning you down ain't it?"

The man -who she would later know as Dr. Enias- disregarded the mage for a second as, with a worried look, saw his precious machine run off. Esmeralda gave him her back, and so he began changing another of his bolts. Fatina ran to Dr.Enias as fast as she could, using two of her fingers striking one of his hands as hard as she could.
His hand fell numb, and the glow of his palm banished into the shadows of the hall.

Dr.Enias looked at her in anger, moreover frustrated as his distance from the machine grew. In a quick motion he lifted his healthy hand to her throat and began to squeeze in a frantic fashion, evidence he had never done something like this before, Fatina was not surprised. She could feel the tendons in her neck sinking deep under the pressure, and her cheeks blush as blood began to pool in her head and her lungs struggle for air.

Thankfully he didn't have his other hand to help him, it was easy for her to aim for his face and administer a sting blow that filled both eyes with water.

Esmerelda
09-25-08, 12:30 AM
Esmerelda moved over to the door, and jiggled the handle. Locked. Of course the probability was high it would be locked, the warden probably wasn't an idiot after all. But there was a gap at the bottom of the door. Perfect.

Esmerelda melted and slid under the door, reforming on the other side. Now, where might the keys be hidden, what did they look like?

Esmerelda realized that if she were fully functional and not possessed of many scrambled files, all of this would be easy, she wouldn't need a meat shield.

She ransacked many books, and sorted through many drawers, until she discovered the locked drawer in the warden's desk. She disconnected her right arm and turned it into a mace. She bashed at the desk and draw and within a few hits, the draw opened without protest.

After reattaching her arm, Esmerelda pulled out a Key, suspended beneath an amulet, and, a book. It appeared red with gold pages. Obviously it was very special. Maybe it had important information on how to get out. Esmerelda saw Fatina struggling with Dr. Enias. Fatina could probably use the book as an improvised weapon.

She rushed to the door and unlocked it. Stepping out of the door she threw the book at Fatina.
"Catch! Knock him out with this weird book I found in the warden's office!" Esmerelda shouted.

Dr. Enias meanwhile released his grip on Fatina as his eyes watered.

He brought his hands together and slowly pulled them apart, collecting as much moisture as he could from the air, he was going to drown Fatina.

Fatina
09-29-08, 07:02 PM
Fatina sunk her nails hard into Enia's face as soon as the slap hit him across the face. With this, he released his grim enough to allow her two hands to grasp one of his, and bring it to her mouth when she bit deep into the flesh, making him bleed profusely. The quick thundering session of attacks was too much for the partially-feeble man to handle. He released Fatina from his grasp and she fell into the dusty floor as she desperately gasped for air. She began to cough soon after, releasing strands of spit twined with blood that stained her hands and made on them a bloody mud. She grasped her throat and forcefully attempted to release the horrible pressure the man had caused on her trachea.

What ever relief her release gave her, it quickly banished as she looked up into what was supposed to be her victim. Water from the air began to materialize around his hands into a mass large enough to fit an infant in. Fatina by no means was a novice when it came to the magical arts. Elemental magic was one hard to master, from all of them the most simplest was that of the water. When it was used as it was largely utilized for, healing. As an offensive element water was a mortal kind of alchemy, killing an enemy abruptly through incredible amounts of pressure that would force the liquid into a human's skull, flooding the lungs with water.

Fatina mustered the strength to stand up on a attempt to tackle Enias to interrupt his spell. Esmeralda had long disappeared from her peripheral vision, giving her the deepest feeling of abandonment she had ever felt in her lengthy life. Fatina assumed the machine had made a run for it after finding the keys and Fatina did not blame her, that's what she would do in that situation. But her suspicions where wrong. Suddenly the door to the warden's office opened, Esmeralda stood at the other end, and she threw Fatina and object instructed to be used as a weapon.

"Shit!" Fatina shouted as the book flew through the air, opening, it's pages trashing in the wind.

Fatina extended both her arms and caught the book, the dirt in her palms had aided the catch by her sweaty hands. Not realizing yet what she had retrieved she held the book firmly by the ends, turned around in a brisk and smashed the book into the man, flinging her whole body with it.

Dr. Enias felt the impact by the heavy object, and he fell back, but his concentration was impeccable and his cast if any barely flinched. The bumpy surface of the leather gave Fatina a nostalgic feeling. Her troubled eyes quickly shifted her attention from her aggressor, down into the book. The golden edges, the blood color, memories suddenly bursting into her head of countless spells and powerful craft, this was The Crimson Duraga!

Fatina placed a hand under the book and suspended the other above. The golden paper began to glow, and with a snap the book opened, its pages swirling as they moved left to right. It was not long until an aura surrounded the sorceress and her eyes began to glow.

"Momma will teach you not to try eating fish bigger than you!"

Fatina swung her free hand as her book stopped on a page. Dr. Enias observed as the water he'd began to materialize, now maroon from the blood of the bite, stopped moving to gridlock his hands in position.

"H2O? Let's step it up a notch." Fatina winked at the man across him with a smile. She had him where she wanted and it felt good, an incredible boost of ego after weeks in prison with her powers completely stripped away. She tapped her finger on a page twice and the water froze at the blink of an eye.

"Petty you playing with water. You shan't try to strangle a witch!"

The ice then grew into spikes, turning it's insides into an iron maiden, mutilating the man's hands to shreds, tainting the transparency with the crimson of blood. Fatina thirsted blood, her vengeful soul had slipped into a short trance. She was being overflowed with power again, and it was the best god damned thing she had ever felt.

Esmerelda
10-06-08, 06:37 PM
"I see I found you a weapon you are particularly skilled with, this is good. If we don't get out of here now, we'll be in serious trouble, and I doubt even your book can get us out of it." Esmerelda said, without a trace or hint of worry in her voice.

She took off running down the hall, spikes completely out, she went left, then right. Esmerelda switched colors as she ran, possessing red hair, green eyes, white skin, and normal brown leather. The guards, most of them, had taken the captured prisoners back to their cell. So the doors to the courtyard were undermanned. The lone guard was easily taken by surprise as Esmerelda turned her left arm into a crossbow and loaded one of her strands of hair, turned into an arrow into it and shot him in the neck, a lucky shot indeed, if machines can possess such.

She lead them out into the courtyard, where she was forced to stop, by the wall of guards surrounding them on all sides, for even a contingent of guards spilled out of the prison doors they just came from.

"Alright woman, work your magic, we need to get towards the door. Were I completely intact I could do it myself, but most of my files are scrambled. Don't try to take them all on, lets just force our way to the door." Esmerelda said.

So saying, she began running towards the doors. The keys she had taken were safe and sound, for being a swarm of nanites, she was easily able to create an empty compartment in her belly area for safe keeping. As she neared the first guards, she made a fist, and backhanded the closest one as she morphed her fist into a mace head.

Fatina
10-30-08, 07:32 PM
Fatina broke the ice, and with a kinetic bash that might as well break his back, she pushed the mangled body off her path and into the wall where he shrieked, and cursed incoherently, a sea of blood pooling below him. She smiled, winked at the man and made a meek noise as she set off after the machine.

The figure of the morphing woman grew smaller as it sprinted through the desolate halls. During her stay at the prison they had not confiscated her armor, as her death wish had been to hang dressed in her war garments. It had proved to be a wise decision, but now, the metal on her legs slowed her down, proving to be no match for the one in the machine's limbs. It was only natural that when the shape of the gate appeared at the turn of a wall, the machine was already upon the sole guard, taking the first kill, pissing Fatina off beyond belief, prepping to prove this gadget the real power of her Duraga.

They passed the gate and quickly stormed upon the first row of soldiers. Strings of light flew about her, her book open in her and, pages fluttering. Her mouth began conjuring spells by chants on an unrecognizable language. The sound of cracking bones ran in her ear as she moved just behind the machine. She extended her free palm which seemed had been lit in fire, her fingers pointed froward and through the mass of bodies she stuck them into chests and limbs, discharging a strong amount on electricity. If she hadn't killed them they fell into the ground numb.
