Name: Christopher Cronin (Topher)

Race: Human

Age: 19

Height: 6'2"

Weight: 162 lbs.

Appearance: Chris usually dons dull-colored clothing. Since he spends a fair amount of time hunting, it is necessary that he have a slight amount of camouflage. He wears brown or dark green pants and a similarly colored shirt. He has also a wolves' fur cape which he wears in the winter. His ears and neck are usually hidden behind his medium length, golden brown hair, which hangs down over his forehead, and covers the tops of his deep set, dark brown eyes. Chris is lean, but quite strong. His veins jut visibly out of his forearms and biceps.

Weapons/Armor: Chris garnishes a sheathed, steel long sword about his waist. It is a finely crafted weapon with black rubber wrapped around its hilt. Also in his arsenal are a maple longbow and a leather quiver half-filled with the eleven iron-tipped arrows he has left. Chris' armor is light. He outfits only a leather vest under his shirt, a pair of leather boots and a pair of leather vamraces.

Skills/Items: Through the vast amount of time he has spent hunting, Chris picked up telepathy of sorts. Through staring down his prey he is able to sense an idea of its intentions. He quickly learned that this startling talent carried over to humans as well, and has honed this gift to be able to detect lies and partially understand the intentions of men. The more a man speaks, the easier it is for Chris to pick up on the man's inner thoughts. The only downside is that he has terrible headaches when he exercises this power too often. The other unusual skill that he possesses, if one can call it a skill, is that Topher has an astonishing tolerance for the cold. He has spent so many days hunting in the winter that his abilities are no longer marred by the harsh winter air. He is handy with his sword, although he has not the level of skill with this weapon as he has with his other. He is not quite an expert marksman, but his undeniable skill with his bow is easily above average. As for his items, Topher carries a small pack with equipment for making fires and a small array of spices for his meat. He also bears a small skinning knife.

History: Born into a conceitedly aristocratic family, it did not take much time for Topher to realize that he would not be home for long. He never liked living in his family's chateaux, and much preferred being outdoors. He took up archery after his ninth birthday. His aptitude in this area led him to hunting, which he quickly took a liking to. This hobby would prove invaluable to him later. It would cease to be a pastime, but a way of life.

When he was twelve, Chris became friends with a boy named Matthew, the son of a tavern owner in his town. The two boys had much in common, and soon became inseparable. Matthew was a bit larger than Topher, but the aristocrat was no pampered and delicate child. He won the bulk of their scraps. Chris' father and elder brother had always resented his friendship with Matthew. They felt he should not be acquainted with a low-class commoner, such as this tavern owner's son, but Chris paid them no attention. He continued to spend most of his time with Matthew.

When he was fifteen, Chris first fell for a girl in his town by the name of Maria. She was quite pretty with curly, dark hair and olive skin. She had the most stunning blue eyes Topher had ever seen. He spent a few days flirting with and romancing the young girl until she finally told him that she felt the same way about him. They began to sneak out together at night, and would meet up and take trips into the woods. The young pair would embrace and kiss and talk of running away together. Chris knew it was only a fantasy, though. He would not think of stealing Maria away from her family with no means of providing for even himself, much less for her.

When he finally decided that he could stand being with his condescending family no longer, and that he was forced to leave his town of birth, Chris said goodbye to his first love and to his friend Matthew. He took what provisions he could carry, his longbow and a steel sword from the armory, and left his town.
