10-05-08, 11:54 AM
Name: Orochi Xiao
Age: 27
Race: Lamia
Hair Colour: Silvery-Lilac
Eye Colour: Red, White iris and pupil.
Height: 6ft 4in
Weight: 64 kilograms
Occupation: Nomad (with a Criminal Record)
Personality:
From years of isolation, Orochi's personality is yet to develop but what is known is... He doesn't take aggression well. When confronted, or spoke to in a violent manner, Orochi is known to not be able to control his aggression which is often thrown back at the person who started it in particular, and results in fighting or even death. Happiness, sadness, worrying, and most other emotions can not be shown properly and he is still learning from other people. His personality seems mixed up, as he does not know how to react in certain situations. For example, when he is hugged, he will not hug back as he does not know what to do and will seem cold but is in fact happy being hugged. This is also a problem when he is trying to get something across to someone. If he wanted to warn someone, or tell them how much he liked them, his voice would be one tone and not change in any situation which can cause misunderstandings.
As he meets more people, he will learn an develop his personality further, much like a child copies their parents.
Also, he despises people who hurt animals for food or for the sake of it. Orochi only eats rodents because of his lamia blood, and is the only type animal he makes an exception to killing as long as he eats them afterwards.
Appearance:
Orochi is a tall slim build of a man, his limbs long and lanky at his height of 6ft 4in. His face is thin, and so is the rest of his body. Although he is thin - he is far from frail. His lips are a light blue from his strange diet of rats, mice, and other rodents. Not very filling for his body to say the least. Also, Orochi is a lamia, though not as most think. Unlike the pure-blood lamia women, certain lamia men do not a have reptilian lower halves but to everyone else, he is clearly known to be one of the species. The feature that brings the most attention are his eyes - The white of his eyes are blood-red, whereas his iris and pupil are pure white. This is unusual to other races, but is the only eye colour lamia men have. The women's eyes are reversed. His hair also brings a lot of attention because it has quite a few unusual features. His fringe which covers the top half of his face is scruffy and clearly not done by a proffessional hairdresser. It is a light lilac shade which shines silver in the light. Also, his hair hardens as it gets further down his back, where they start turning into scales. He can use his strange hair as armour, but it is not very strong and are much like normal scales, which is also an attribute only given to lamia males. His nails are purple, he has a line of lilac scales on his spine, and in his small mouth are two long fangs, much like a vampire's rather than a snakes.
Now onto his clothes which aren't as strange as his actual bodily features. The male lamia has both ears pierced three times on each side, and the earrings he wears are all exactly the same - six thick silver bars. Orochi wears a loose baggy t-shirt, that hangs low around his neck to show off his lamia birthmark, which all of his species have somewhere on their bodies. Around his neck is a very loose black collar made of metal, which four tracking chips (which all don't work anymore) can clearly be seen as thick vertical lines. He wears a black long sleeved leather jacket which is scuffed at the shoulders, elbows, and hems. On the back of the jacket are a lot of belts in a criss-cross fashion, and on the front are two scruffy worn pockets. The collar of his jacket is able to fasten together covering the lower half of his face by a buckle. He wears black denim jeans which are very tight as not to be caught on anything. Nine belts on each leg criss-cross up his shins, and stop just below the knee. His boots come up to just below his knee too, and have small horizontal thin metal plates up the front. Also his gloves come up to his elbows, and they too have small horizontal thin metal strips up them - three on the back of his hand and ten up his arm. His pants are held up by one belt, and one thin black brace which is slightly seen when his jacket is open. A little satchel is attached to his belt, and is black with a white snake on the front.
History:
Orochi's name is derived from the 'eight-branched snake', a legend in his village. His parents named him this hoping he would be something special in the future. He had a quiet little family, and Orochi was a kind little boy, who never ever cut his hair, and also never had any friends. He was sweet, and gentle - to animals not others. He thought animals deserved much kinder attention, and when he saw a family who lived in his village come home with a dying deer which was then slaughtered in their garden for food, Orochi dedicated himself to helping them. At the age of 5, Orochi caught pneumonia after sitting outside in the rain, with a leaf in hand, protecting a caterpillar from the water droplets. This caused him to become vunerable to illnesses and has stayed that way. When Orochi was younger, around the age of 7, he was locked away in prison (should be legal at 10yrs but no-one really likes lamias) for what the judge said was "a deserved sentence of 20 years" after killing a group of teenagers who were tormenting a feline as he walked past. They had it up and were about to kill it when Orochi noticed the animal was screeching and hissing, and went over to look. Noticing how cruel they were treating the animal, Orochi told them to stop, but one boy retaliated using offensive language, and threatening him with the knife, which the little lamia didn't take too well. After the massacre, the little boy was surrounded by the dead bodies, Orochi used the precious time to stay and remove the rope around the furry creatue, but by that time, a group of adults had spotted him, and took him into the police station, where he admitted what he had done finding it perfectly normal to do.
In prison, Orochi hardly ate but his snake instincts kicked in at 15 where he started eating the small rodents that entered his cell, hence his thin frame. He was succumbed to illness after illness, causing him to become even thinner, and paler. The only thing that kept him alive was his lamia blood, and his roommate who protected him from the deadly gangs in prison, and took care of him when he was ill.
Only just been released he returned home, then left again so now Orochi has no idea where to go, but knows his parents are dead as they were old when he went into prison, and he had recieved a letter when he was 12, informing him of their death and letting him attend their funeral. He returned home to retrieve the items left for him, but felt he needed to enter the huge world and experience what he had missed.
Skills:
Pudao Use - It takes a lot of skill to use a Pudao, and Orochi is still not used to it. His fighting style is slice-n-dice, but also means he can injure those he does not want to injure. He really has no idea how to use it, and usually stays attached to his back under his scales, just in case he needs it. He's not a lover of this weapon, but if someone can show him how to use it, he should be able to get better.
Snake Communication - With lamia blood running through his veins, Orochi can talk to snakes. Any snake at all. He can also hear their conversations, as if they were human too. This helps a lot as he can ask them for help, or tell companions which snakes are in a bad mood, or which are deadly.
Acid Spit - Orochi is part snake which is what a lamia is. His spit is extremely acidic, and can burn through many materials all except certain stones and metals. Unfortunately, this means he has to watch how he speaks, and cannot kiss anyone or let his spit come in contact with them at all. Lamia's have a defense to this because they are snakes, but unfortunately, everyone else doesn't and will burn. Ouch.
Martial Arts - Being brought up in a strictly fight or die family, Orochi had to learn how to fight. He was took up the mountains to train with his father, and he also trained all throughout his time in prison. His snake reflexes give him amazing strength, speed, agility, all to 1.5x that of a human and his scales give him a good defense as he just has to flick his hair around him to create an armour which protects him from minor damage but unfortunately, can be cut through. His fighting style revolves around kicks and flips, because his arms are not very strong but his speed and long legs make up for it. He still has a lot to learn though.
Equipment:
Pudao - His one and only weapon and it's hardly ever used. He finds it really awkward to use, and rarely fights with it. The blade is made of steel, and the staff of wood which is black with a lilac snake coiled around it, which adds to the distinctive appearance, as does the snake-head steel blade collar. This Pudao is good for long range and short range, though is a little tough to handle at short range. This was the most prized possession in Orochi's household, and knowing his parents were dead meant everything was left to him. Returning home, he took the food, the water, and the Pudao.. then left the rest for the other family members.
Satchel - His satchel is black with a lilac snake embroidered on the front. Made by his roommate and himself in prison, he can put allsorts in this, as long at it's no bigger than 10 inches either way. Currently it includes bread, rat-meat, a bottle of water, a few coins and a grey scale took from his mothers tail.
Gloves - The black gloves on his hands which reach his elbows, are in fact made of scales with thin horizontal metal plates up the front. His father made them for him before he went into prison so he could wear them when he left. The scales are just as strong as his hair, and protect his lower arms from minor damage.
