I'm starting a sort of robotic character whose internal dialogue is more like computer technical jargon, and I want to start him off in someone else's quest/story for whatever reason. You make him, or you find him, or you find him and unleash a more powerful and complete version that you defeat and he degenerates into Rhythm, or whatever. I'm also available for any thread.

I don't want to make the profile yet because I want to be flexible with the history. Anyone want me in? Anyone at all.

Hey there, and first off, welcome to Althanas!

There's a bit of a problem with your request, I'm sorry to say. To start, you definitely need a profile so that you can write in the IC Regions. I know you want a flexible history, so there are ways to accommodate you while still having a profile for other people to peruse and from which they can get basic information about your character. You might just be able to give him a very basic history, or perhaps none at all if you list very good reasons for not having one.

Now I can't give you definite tips or answers on this, so you should try your hand with a profile and compromise with The Real of Greeting moderators, who I'm sure will understand your goals with your character. Just, don't tink of profiles as burdens and things that are set in stone! Many of our players have overhauls of their profiles, or update before they even level to add or change information.

I meant that I fumble together an origin story with someone, or agree to become involved at a certain point in the quest, etc. and once that's confirmed, THEN I make the profile, THEN I make my first IC posts.

The only problem so far with my request is that I'm not likely to get anyone interested, and you don't seem to be. :(

I know what you meant, but you still need a profile to post in the IC forums. That's why I suggested that you leave the history blank while just filling in the general appearance, skills and the like, so that the moderators can know what's going on and if he's doing anything his skills don't allow him to do. It's purely for convenience purpose. After you make the thread, you can update that profile with your history of how he came to be in that quest and what happened afterwards, or you can wait until you level to insert it.

And don't be in such a hurry, it takes time before people answer in recruitment threads. Most likely because they want to see if someone will remain active before they take on a quest with anyone. They'd probably also feel better if you had a profile. As for me, I'm not in a position to take on any more quests, unfortunately. I do find your character concept rather interesting though, and that it'd be very fitting with my character, as she's something of a technology-buff.

Anyway, yeah, I know how it is around here. If I don't get interest within a few days, people just assume I don't want it anymore and my thread never gets replied to. I'm fairly active, it's just I'm not sure anyone is going to be willing to give me a chance.

Man up and get out there. Join other people and their quests. Come up with something and let the people who want to play with you give ideas and listen. That's how it works.

Sounds great, you two. I got finals as well, so just post again once yours are over. I sort of want to maintain the story I already had planned (alternate universe with futuristic technology, and events occurring in ancient althanas), but if not I can adapt.
