So far everything was going according to plan. Mercenaries had been deployed to Dheathain and to the countryside south of Radasanth, and within the week Teric hoped to be in possession of his very own limestone quarry. It was a big deal for the mercenary, that quarry, and in a way he was finding himself quite excited. The prospects that quarry held for him were huge; so huge that he was already putting into motion plans for after the quarry was acquired. It might have been a little presumptuous, counting his chickens before they hatched like that, but Teric wasn't concerned.

Pembleton would have been concerned. The veteran found himself thinking as he strolled casually down Corone Blvd. in Radasanth. That was why he hadn't informed the accountant about this little job - and had left him behind at his office. The penny-pincher wouldn't have been too thrilled about shelling out money for a job that might prove itself worthless should the first group of mercenaries fail.

If they fail, I'll just have to do it myself. Teric vowed. The limestone quarry was just too important to let slip away should his underlings prove incompetent.

Teric had put the word out last night, letting the job offer spread by word of mouth through the city's dark places. It was a pretty simple job, but he mentioned that part. He'd only mentioned the pay, four hundred gold crowns, and that anyone interested should find him. That last part was why he walked slowly through the streets now, occasionally wandering down seldom travelled side streets and the dark alleys were mercenaries might feel more comfortable approaching him. Four hundred crowns was a fairly sizable fortune to some people, and the veteran didn't have any concern about being left to wander forever.

Someone would find him eventually...
