Rith

Rith walked into the gates of The Citadel. This was his first time ever to see the arena but surely not the first he had ever heard of it. It was now time for him to begin honing his fighting ability and improve his skills, considering he hadn’t fought anyone in a long time this was the appropriate place to begin. The monks here were known for their abilities to give a combatant a new area each time, never at once the same. Also, their healing abilities were completely unmatched in any way, because you never could actually die, well unless they felt the need to not revive you at least.
One of the monks approached Rith and simply said “Rith, please follow. Your opponent will be arriving shortly.”
Rith followed the hooded man in silence to one of the many doorways in the area halls. The monk did not speak but simply motioned for him to go inside and afterwards just walked back down the hall to where they had just come.
Definitely a strange group. Well, time to see what you’re made of.
Rith stepped inside the doorway to find a snow covered arena which was approximately 25 yards by 25 yards with an open fighting area in the middle. The snow was about two inches deep, there were a few large boulders scattered into the middle of the clearing and the rest of the place was surrounded by a thick grove of pine trees and shrubbery. A few snowflakes were still falling, an image of a setting sun hidden by clouds was in the air, there was no wind, and it was chilly. Well this is different.
Taking a few steps towards the center of the arena, Rith turned to look at where he had just entered. The only things he saw were trees and snow covered greenery and also to his amazement that there were no tracks aside from only a few imprints of his last couple steps. He walked a little ways more and the ones near the back seemingly just faded back to where the snow originally was. Interesting, so at least you can’t be tracked in every move if you dart into the tree line. Observing the rest of the fighting area he began to plan where he could take advantage of his opponent.
Rith held his yew shortbow in his hands and pulled two arrows from his quiver and notched the first while he held the second between his last three fingers. He had his steel battleaxe laced to his back with the head resting on top of the quiver at his lower left lumbar area and the handle leaning slightly over his right shoulder. All he would need to do is give it a tug and he would then be in action ready to fight whoever his opponent was when they got too close. The iron dagger was hanging from his lower right waist and his steel knife was sheathed on the outside of his left leg on top of his leggings. His dagger and knife were merely meant more for intimidation and for those just in case situations. He was used to carrying an assortment of weapons though, so it didn’t bother him too much. He didn’t have any other armor besides his chainmail and studded leggings so they would have to suffice. When I get back to that smithy, armor is definitely the next thing on my to-do list.
He stepped up onto of one of the smaller boulders which was near the center of the arena, this gave Rith a good vantage point to begin the fight. He took a knee, bow in hand with the arrow notched and proceeded to wait for his opponent to arrive. He better fucking be here soon.
If you have any questions about the arena, just let me know. Aside from the snow on the ground replenishing itself there are no other special features to the arena. The trees and shrubbery extend back about another 15 yards to make the area more or less 40x40 yards with the center 25 clear except for the boulders. Think of the vegetation on the outside as a very, horribly overgrown forest.
