“Which Doctor pelage”

“A letter?” Ace said to the innkeeper, “Who even knows I’m here?” Ace quickly opened the envelope and pulled the letter out, with it came 3 gold coins. “Why do I need 3 coins?” Ace unfolded the letter, it read;

Dear Ace

I have heard you are the best of the best now here is a challenge for you; there is a town that has been infected with the “Which Doctor plauge”. I will give you no details of this pelage, only that you must kill every infected being, just incase you are not quite to this level, here are 3 gold coins to hire some help. If you succeed you will be rewarded beyond belief.

“God, ok well looks like its time to seek out some help” Ace said to himself “Inn keep do you have any healers staying here?”

“Yes sir, there is one young girl staying in room 13” the Inn keep replied

“send for her, I must speak with her” as quickly as the words left Aces mouth there was a bill boy off to room 13 to fetch the healer. "What is this girl’s name?"

"You would need to ask her sir, I know no more of her, then I know of you" the inn keep replied before he walked away

"Useless innkeeper!" Ace said

Izzy paced silently around her room, bored beyond belief.
"There's nothing to do in this stinkin' town! I've been here three days, and nothing!" She sighed and plopped down on her bed.
There was a light tap at the door.
"Enter."

A young man no older then 18 entered the room “a man beckoned for the healer staying in this room, would that be you?” The young man asked very politely. Before receiving a reply the man continued “he’s waiting in the lobby I believe he has money for you” the man bolted out of the room off to his next duty.

Meanwhile Ace waited very impatiently in the lobby, “where is this stupid girl? Why am I even waiting for her? I could do this quest on my own!” Ace blabbered on to himself. “I’m giving her till 5 before I leave without her 1 … 2… 3…”

"money..." she thought. Izzy was up, with her back pack on in seconds. She whipped down the stairs and examined the front room. A man with black hair was standing there as if he owned the place, but he was good looking "I"m going to assume your the one who paid for my services?" She asked. "Nice going Izyy, make yourself sound like a prostitute to a cute guy." She thought. She sighed and waited for his reply.

“Who are you?” Ace questioned the young girl “you can’t be the healer that the Innkeeper spoke of, your way to young! I need someone who can actually help me win a fight.” Ace turned to walk away but stopped “ok look I need help… I don’t like you, and you’re not going to like me, but there’s a lot of gold on the line!” Ace walked a few feet then stopped again; he threw 3 gold coins to the young girl. Get yourself some food or something and meet me at the first house once you enter “Nainocar Village” just after sunset. “it should be safe to enter the town then.” Ace thought to himself as he walked out of the door of the Inn.

She eyed him angrily as he walked out the door and when the door shut she shouted "The nerve of that... that... ARGH!" She stormed out of the Inn and ran after him. She looked left and right and found him walking north out of the town. "And why wouldn't I be good enought to aid you? You shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, after all i was... uh... never mind.. anyway, i can do a lot more than you think. Just because i'm young it doesn't mean I don't know my stuff. Anyway I'm not hungry, i ate." she lied. "So what's with this quest and all the mystery?"

Ace looked at the girl with a blank stair. He then turned to walked away again, “I don’t care what you do with the 3 gold, just leave me alone for now, and meet me at the place I told you just after sunset. You’ll see all you need to know soon enough.” Ace said confidently. Truth-be-told, Ace had no idea what to expect, and he was not going to take the chance of going in there with an inexperienced healer without knowing what he was up against. “I’m heading to the house now, be there right after sun set, we will rest there tonight and get to work first thing tomorrow morning” Ace walked away from the young healer once again.

"Can't i just go with you?" Izzy yelled from the edge of the forest. "I have nothing better to do anyway... please..." She half begged. Izzy did not want to walk through a forest in the dark, at the very least. And she definately didn't want to wander into an unknown village afte dark. "Creppy.." She thought as she shuddered.

"No!" Ace shouted back to her. Ace needed to do something first and that needed to be done alone, the house they would be staying in was his parents, he had not been in there since he was taken by the Clan of Mercenary's when he was 5, and he needed to know if his parents were still alive or not.

"FINE!" She didn't need him. She didn't need anyone. "Jerk..." She muttered to herself. She walked back toward the village and the Inn to await the night.

Izzy awoke a few hours later to the sun scorching her face. She looked out the window of hew room to see the sun beginning to set behind the forest. She shot up out of bed and quickly got ready to leave. Izzy knew if she left now, she would get there before the sun set and not have to walk in the dark. She didn't need that stupid... It was then that she realized she didn't know his name "oh well...first house, and i could never forget that face anyway... stupid jerk." She muttered under her breath. She looked at her dress sitting on her bed but decided to leave it behind. She would most likely be fighting anyway. She grabbed her cloak and her back pack and headed out to the edge of the town towards Nainocar.

The graveyard on the very outskirts of town was full, “many people have died since I left” Ace thought to himself. Ace scanned the graveyard looking for the plot of land his father had bought for his family, and there they were 4 grave stones in a row only two were missing, the spot where Aces would go, and the woman Ace decided to marry. Disappointed that both his parents and his 2 younger sisters were dead Ace quickly left the cemetery and walked down the road to the first house in the town, his parent’s old house!

The house was dark and eerie; it looked as if it had been abandoned for a long time now, and with good reason, there were vines climbing half way up the house and the weeds in the garden were almost as tall as Ace, it was obvious no one had lived in the house since Ace’s parents died. The town seemed deserted, and it was only 6:30 in the evening, even though it was so early the sun was still going down. As much as he did not want to admit it, Ace knew he would want the help of that healer from town, in order to complete his mission easily and in a timely fashion. As he approached the door to the old house he was careful to be as quite as possible, as to not alert anyone or anything of his presence in the town. “Where is that stupid girl?” Ace thought to himself, just as the words left his mouth he saw a small figure come into sight "is that her?

As the town came into view Izzy sighed with relief. "No more dark creepy forest." she thought. She walked to the first house and greeted her employer outside. "So... uh...before i help you can i know your name? At least... And why is this town so damn creepy!" She accidentally said outloud. "So, care to fill me in now? Or are you hell bent on being Mr. Mysterious?"

“Just shut up and stay here we have all night to make small chat” Ace said, Ace quietly entered the house and walked towards the main room, when he turned the corner coming out of the hallway and entering the main room (on the east side of the house) he saw them, three of the most hideous beings Ace had ever seen, these things were what you became when you became infected with the “Which Doctor plauge”. The three were standing in a very tight circle all facing inwards. It appeared as if they were dead, they varied in height-- all based on who they once were Ace assumed-- but for the most part they all looked the same: pail white-yellow skin with small blisters all over there back. They were so skinny that Ace could see there spines through there skin. Wondering why they were locked up in here, Ace circled around the room, and after a better look he walk back out of the house to check on his young healer. “Do you know anything of the “Which Doctor Pelage”?” Ace asked the young girl.

"I'm not a Cleric for nothing." She said matter-of-factly. "It's a virus that makes humans nocturnal... i guess the best word would be vampires." As she described the virus things slowly began to click in her mind. "Wait.. you mean we have to fight those things?" She said too loudly. A noise sounded from within the house.

Ace quickly ran back to the main room, the three were not so still anymore and were staring right at Ace. They began to run at Ace, and he quickly turned around and ran down a long hallway, heading towards the left side of the house. “Lucky this house is so old” Ace yelled as he jumped at the old warn down wall and broke right threw it. The little sun there was blasted right through the new window to the house, as soon as the sun touched the three “infected people”, they started to burn, and screech in pain, the two in front burst into flames and burned till there was only ashes left, the third managed to crawl back into the house and let out a massive screech before it as well burst into flames and died

Izzy fell to the floor with her hands over her ears. She quickyl called upon her powers to control the sound around her. She quickly tuned the whole world out one by one. When the screeching stopped, she didn't know if it was because her powers had took effect or because they were all dead.

“F**KING S**T! WHY DID YOU NEED TO GO AND YELL LIKE THAT! GOD” Ace yelled at the healer. Ace turned to walk away when he heard it again that screech, this time it was from the house across the street, then another one from a few houses down, then the whole town let up with screeches from the “infected”. “Holy S**t! we are royally F**ked! Come-on lets go” Ace beckoned to the healer who was still huddled in a ball on the ground, he ran over and grabbed a hold of her to try to get her to move but she refused so he threw her over his shoulder and carried her to the house. “What’s wrong with you?!” Ace yelled as he walked in threw the door and closed it behind him, still caring the healer.

Suddenly, just the voice of the man she was working with broke through the silence. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry.. I just.. I freaked out. I've never seen them before, and their voices. I have sensitive ears so I turned down all the volume. That's all." She calmed her mind and told herself over and over "It's okay. Calm down. You have to be strong and help him." Then she realized something. "Can you put me down please?"

"What? ... Oh" Ace dropped the healer, "now we need to find away to keep those thing out of the house! Do you have any ideas?" Ace looked at the girl laying on the ground, "maybe ill tie the vines and weeds outside together and somehow bind that whole shut.” Ace muttered to himself.

"That'll never work." She said as she dropped her bag and started fishing though it. "That virus makes them very violent, and super strong. Hence the nickname 'Vampire Bite'. If you know what those are, you know what we're in for." She pulled off her cloak to reveal her evergreen fighting costume and pulled out her Crescent Moon Blades and bow and arrows and threw her cloak in the bag. "As a mercenary, you were paid to eliminate them. Our only way out, now that they know we're here, is to fight." She pulled her sheathed blades around her waist and put a head band around her head to hold her bangs back. "You did come prepared for that option, didn't you?"

“Wow she’s pretty hot” Ace thought to himself. "Foolish girl! Of course I came prepared for a fight, but you worry more about keeping me alive, then killing them!” Ace threw his trench coat and “bible” off to one side then ripped his shirt off, exposing his muscular body that most guys only dream of possessing, and most women only dream of seeing. “A rare treat for you, to see me shirtless” Ace said as threw the torn up shirt off to one side and pulled his two Elvin blood rain blades out of the sheaths. As he slid each one onto his arm and griped the handle tight he looked back at his healer, and gave her a quick “here we go” smile, the last glimpse of the sun sank down below the earth and loud screeching could be heard as the “infected” ran from hiding, up the road, to the house Ace and the healer were standing in.

Izzy rolled her eyes at her comapions cockiness and pulled her swords from their sheaths. "You only paid me to keep you alive, nowhere does it say that i can't fight.So I'll do what I please." In actuality, Izzy hated fighting more than anything, but this man had given her something to prove. She wasn't just some young kid that knew nothing of the world and couldn't take care of herself. She was an ex "high healer" with training and abilities beyond the skills of any regular Cleric. This time, her reputation was on the line and even though she wasn't known among the average people, to her, her reputation was the only thing she had left. It didn't matter if anyone else knew it, she did.
There was a banging at the door and Izzy didn't hesitate in climbing the stairs and making her way to the top of the house. She climbed out a top story window and slung her bow with an arrow, took aim on the front door, and let them fly.

Ace stood at the top of the stairs just waiting for the "infected" to brake through the small wooden door, "5..., 4..., 3..." Ace Counted "2..., 1..., bang." with a Crash the door broke in and the "Infected" swarmed the house, being at the top of the small narrow set of stairs Ace could fight the "Infected" almost one on one, as the first "Infected" made its way up the stairs Ace braced himself, gripped his blade handle tight, and threw his fist at the "Infected", Driving his blade clean through its head, the "infected" dissinagraded to dust, but there were all ready 3 more "Infected" making there way up the stairs. "Healer! How many can you see?" Ace said as he kicked the next "Infected" in the chest knocking it back down the stairs on top of the others.

Izzy left her bow and arrows on the roof and with her blades on hand flipped off the roof. Landing on one of the Zombies heads, breaking it's neck and stabbing it in the heart, it burst into dust. "11" She muttered under her breath. Then she heard her campanion call out to her. "At least 30 left and I've already taken out 11! And I forgot to buy arrows today, Damnit!" She swore. She turned quickly and decapitated another and then another "12, 13.." Then they all began to surround her. "Not very stupid are they..." she thought. She stopped her one on one attack, spun as fast as she could and sliced as many of the infected ones as she could in one rotation. "How're you doing in there?" She called out to her companion.

“God Dam these things!” Ace yelled as he picked one up over his head and threw it down the stairs, three more “Infected” ran up the stairs at Ace, he drove his blade threw the first ones chest and kicked the next one in the head. The limp body on Ace’s blade turned to dust. Ace turned around and ran up the second set of stairs, closely followed by 4 infected towns’ people, Ace made his way to the roof where he looked down on the young healer girl, who was surrounded, he turned back around just in time to see one of the infected people jump at him, Ace reached out and grabbed its wrists, he then dropped onto his back, placed his foot on the beasts stomach and threw it head first off of the roof, it fell to the ground, landing on a few more of its kind. “You ok down there?” Ace yelled as he threw himself back to his feet and got ready for the rest to make there way to the roof.

"I'm fine..." She said as she stabbed another in the chest. With every swing she could feel her powers dwindiling, it took so much energy to kill even one because their skin was so thick. "Wait..." she though. "They're extremely sensitive to light..." As quickly as she was able she killed the two that were in front of her and ran as fast as she could to the farthest corner she could find. She began to sing her spell as loud as she could focusing all her energy and calling upon the maxime power held inside the Gem around her neck. Most of the town was bathed in light and as the infected ones closed in the light began to effect them. They began to shriek and moan, the closest ones to her burst into dust particles. "YES! Ten in one move!"

Out of the corner of his eye Ace saw the healer run away from the fight, "guess she got too swarmed?!" Ace smiled to himself, before his attention was swept back to the fight. Ace kicked a piece of board that was laying on the roof, into the air, he caught the bored and threw it at one of the infected that had just climbed onto the roof, it drove into his head and he burst into dust. A bright light came from the direction the healer was in, Ace turned to see what it was but blinded by the light he stumbled and slipped off the roof, crashing through the front porch Ace Laid there till the light dimmed, he then poked his head back up and noticed all the infected towns people were running away from the healer, she jumped for joy as she shouted "YES! Ten in one move!"

She looked up and saw Ace crash through the floor from the roof. "Oh no..." She breathed. Using the last of her energy she sprinted to his side. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for you to fall. Are you alright?" The world began to spin and unable to keep her footing Izzy collapsed to the ground. "Useful, but... definately... a bad...idea..." She said out of breath.

"Wow! You ok?" Ace said in shock "Stupid girl! She’s exhausted all of her energy." Ace bent down and threw the healer over his shoulder. "Well it’s no longer safe here, they know where we will be", Ace began to walk towards the forest, "easier to deal with wolfs then those things all night."

The sun began to rise up over the mountains to the east, "there’s been no sight or sound of the infected town’s people all night." Ace said to himself as he sharpened his blades "i guess ill get some rest." Ace leaned back up against a tree just inches from the healer, and folded his arms in front of him, as he dosed off he watched the last sparks of his camp fire dwindled away with last moments of night.

Izzy slowly began to regain consciousness. "well that was stupid..." she though. All the thoughts from the previous night came flooding back to her and she shot up and looked around. They weren't in the town, there were trees everywhere "We're in the forest." She looked at Ace sleeping a few inches beside her and came to the conclusion that he must've brought them here after she'd collapsed. "Well... that was nice...for a jerk" She said outloud. She looked at his now soft features and realized she couldn't keep his eyes off him. "Okay... fine! I'll admit, he's really good looking when he sleeps." She said to herself. "But he's an ass so that just totally blows that idea out of the water!" She huffed. "And besides, those can't be real!" She poked at his tomach and was amazed at how rock hard his abs were even when his muscles were relaxed and he was asleep. Izzy yawned, still drained of most of her powers and decided she could wake up a couple hours before sunset and stil be okay to fight. She shivered in the cold of a near sunless sunrise and lied down beside her companions back to keep warm.

Ace awoke several hours after he dosed off, by the sun it looked to be about noon. He was set and ready to go, 6 hours was more then enough sleep for him, he looked over at the healer girl and realized she had moved closer during the night, startled by this he jumped backwards. “She’s sort-a kind-a cute when she’s not talking.” Ace thought “oh well time to find food." Ace stood up and stretched, he look back down at the girl “man she has a nice body though, oh well.” Ace turned and walked towards the near by lake “time to catch some fish for dinner”

By the angle of the shadows of the trees it seemed to be around 2 p.m. "Hey... where'd that guy go?" She thought to herself. She got up and looked around for her bag and her cloak "OH NO!!!" She shouted so loud that all the birds scattered.

Ace walked up the hill back towards his makeshift camping site, with three fish in his hand, just as he came within site of the campsite he heard the girl yell "OH NO!!!", Ace dropped the fish and ran to see what had happened. When he reached the camp site the girl looked extremely worried. "What’s wrong?" Ace asked very confused

She looked at her companion with an evil stare. "You..." She said ominously. She walked up to him a pointed her finger into his chest. "you forgot my bag! Do you have any idea how expensive all the stuff in there was? And my cloak..." She began to think about what would befall her if a member of her family caught her without her cloak. "Anyway. If any of that stuff is gone, it's your ass!" She shouted at him. She huffed, turned around and sat cross-legged on the dirt ground.

Ace stared at the girl blankly as she yelled at him, when she finally shut up and sat down Ace decided to speak up, "Look you babbling idiot! It’s the middle of the day, go back to the house and get it. Besides if they did take any of your stuff where could they have brought it? To another house in town?" Ace started to walk towards town "Anyway, I left my stuff there to, and I’m sure my bible was just as expensive as anything you could be carrying". Ace said calmly as he walk off towards town.

She stared after him, slightly annoyed at his carelessness. she was also very suprised at how calm he was after she'd yelled at him. She sighed and followed after him. "So, you never did answer my question you know?"

"And what question is that?" Ace said as he walked, he knew she was going to try pry into his life but he didn't care, he would tell her the same thing he told everyone. “I can’t wait to, get away from this girl” Ace said to himself as he waited for her response.

[Alice_Izzy]

"You're name. That's all, you don't have to be so suspicious." She said as if the answer was obviouse. "It'd be nice if I at least knew your name." She said kidding around. "She stopped him from moving to make sure she got an answer. "What? Mr.Mystery can't even tell me his name." She giggled.

"Why? Why dose it matter to you what my name is?" Ace looked at the ground and walked around the girl, "look after this we will probably never see each other again, so what’s the point of me telling you, now lets go get our stuff and figure out a better plan then what we did last night."

She rolled her eyes and gave up for the time being. "Anyway, i had an idea. There are a lot of vines in that town and I'm a chlorokinetic...it's not one of my stronger abilities but it helps. But that's besides the point. I was thinking if we could tie the vines around the houses we could collapse them in during the day, i can make the vines smaller and you with all that muscle mass can pull on them i think we could do it. Besides, yesterday was just a mess and i do not want to deal with that again..." Izzy sighed at how pathetic her powers were. She was one of the weakest Clerics she knew. All the stories of how great Clerics could be seemed very out of reach.

“Good Plan, but it is almost Three already I doubt we can kill all the infected people today, so once again, our biggest worry is somewhere safe to stay tonight.” Ace looked back at the forest, “we were lucky last night, they didn’t come after us cause of your light, but I doubt they will stay away again tonight, and we can’t risk that they won’t come into the forest for us tonight.”, Ace looked at the girl “Lets work on a place to stay first, then kill as many as we can till sunset then we will start again early tomorrow three or four days we should be done.”, they reached the road to town, it would only be a few minutes till they got there, “so what’s with the cloak, why is it such a big deal?”

She was shocked by the question, she didn't even knew he'd remembered her saying anything about that. "It's important to me, okay..." She answered simply. The flood of memories of that day so many years ago when her family abandoned her made her sad. Even though it had been nearly 5 years she wasn't able to get over it, she wasn't even sure if a person could get over that sort of thing. She looked down at the road and continued to walk in stride with her companion.

Ace walked up the road relatively quickly, paying little attention to his companions response, he wanted to get to town long before dark fell and they only had another few hours to get ready. He did not really care about anything he left there, everything he had was replaceable, but something he noticed when he fell threw the porch is what he cared about, it was an old black cigar box, with a dragon on the top, he had seen it before, but could not remember where. There it was just within sight, the house, and from the looks of it the infected towns people were not back here last night, as he could see a few of the arrows, the healer had shot, sticking up out of the ground. As they reached the house Ace stopped, and pulled it out of the ground, and examined it, “no blood?” he whispered to himself. He could see the ground was gray-white, covered with ash from the infected people dieing last night, they were lucky to still be alive.

Paying no attention to anything around her, Izzy walked stright into the house to find her bag. She walked into the main room to see her bag open and all its contents thrown everywhere. "Stupid creaters!" She said angrily. She looked around for all her items when she saw a door with stairs sitting wide open. She grabbed her bag, leaving all the things she didn't get a chance to pick up behind, closed the door and ran out of the house. "You didn't go in your basement when we were here last night did you?" She asked her companion.

"What! This house doesn’t have a basement" Ace asked very confused, he stood up and walked to the porch, “There it is!” Ace squat down and grabbed the box out of the rubble, blowing the dust off of the top, “Where have I seen this before?” Ace asked himself as he stood back up still staring at the box, “ohh well, show me the door?” he turned to the girl.

She walked back through the house to the main hallway. To the left was the door she was talking about. "Whatever it is, it has stairs that go down.... and to be honest, it's REALLY creepy." She looked at him and smiled. "So have fun going to see what's down there. I'm going to get my bows." Izzy turned around and walked toward the roof.

Ace stepped in threw the door, “when was this added?” Ace asked himself quietly; as he took each step he was careful not to make any noise, at the last step he paused, there was a light, meaning that the infected town’s people could not hide down here, so in that way he was safe, as he stepped off the last step onto the stone floor, he heard a growl from what appeared to be a far distance away. Ace turned the corner and all he cold see, was a long, dimly lit tunnel. “Where did this come from?” he asked himself.

Izzy sttod on the roof as she collected her Bow when she heard a low rumbling noise that sounded like a growl. "What is it with this creepy town!!!" Izzy shouted in her head. "Well, I'm not going down there... I'm way to much of a coward..." Izzy sighed and scaled down the house. She stood in the backyard of the first house by the trees. The plants gently blew in the breeze and curiosity took over her. She sat down in front of them and began to medidtate on the images they might hide. Everything was dark at first and slowly the images began to appear. There was a young boy, he couldn't have been more than three with dark black hair holding on to a woman's hand, no doubt his mothers hand, and laughing freely. The mother look worried, or terrified, and it appeared as if she was always that way. Her eyes would shift every few seconds and even though she wanted to focus on her son, she couldn't do it for long. The boy then tunred around. The image shocked Izzy, it was her companion and there was no doubt about that. Then the image faded and her powers gave out but, driven by curiosity she called upon her gem once more. The images returned, the mother was crying and being held by two men in black, they had her held tightly, she was screaming "No, don't take my son! Don't take him too!! Take me!" The boy was crying uncontrollably "Mom..." he sobbed, "Don't let them take me away." the terror was plain in his eyes. "I won't let you take Ace from me!" She shouted and she kicked and punched with a furry that only a mother could muster, "Stupid b****." One of the men swore and he backhanded her across the face, knocking her unconsciouse. Izzy opened her eyes as she let the images sink in. She shook her head quickly got up and bolted into the house and down the creepy stairs. Without thinking she stumbled down the hallway until she saw Ace. She stopped dead in her tracks, pressed up against the wall and watched him carefully.

Ace took three steps into the tunnel, he was in a round room that was decently lit, there was a narrow tunnel on the other side of the small room, there were seven torches on each wall of the tunnel, about 30 feet apart, ace then remembered the box, he stopped and lifted the box up to look at it in the dim light. It appeared as if there were any locks or taps, not that he was trained to find these things, he lifted the lid and inside there was a red Ruby about half the size of a dime, and the rest was filled with black velvet cloth. As ace leaned in for a better look the gem started to shake, he then felt a shaking in his pocket, there was a glow coming from his pocket, ace put his had in and pulled out the pendant his grate, grate grand father owned, there were cracks of light coming threw the brown warn down old brass, the cranks got bigger, and brighter, “What’s going on?” ace stared at the old heirloom laying on the palm of his hand, all of a sudden the pendant shattered, ace jerked his head back to protect his eyes from shards from brass shards, when he looked back there was a brand new, pendant laying where the old one once was, it was shining brass, with a in graved dragon on it, the head and tail being raised off of the original surface, the body looked as if it was divided in to seven parts, with a small hole in each part. The dragons eyes lit up red, and the ruby started to glow as well, there was another roar from deep within the tunnel, the ruby flew out of the box and landed in the first body area, the pendant shook and a brass cover slid over that area, with a small whole showing the ruby, the first body piece was now raised even with the head, the ruby sat perfectly in the dragon. The farthest torches lit up brighter, showing a door at the other end of the tunnel, “if that’s the head, then this house must be the tail?” Ace said out load before he began questioning his sanity, but decided to take a close look. As he walked, ace could see carvings on the walls of the cave, but could not pick out what they were because of the dim light. When he reached the lit area, he could see the carvings clearly; to him it looked as if it was a riddle of some kind, the walls read;

Ace read the wall and could only pick out one “Equivalent word”, it was matched with “Fire’s Unflinching Wrath”, “Berserk” he whispered, as soon as the word left his mouth he heard a loud hum in side his head, he got really hot and his eyes turned red, he felt an uncontrollable rage come over him, he somehow knew this feeling would go away soon, he had to hit something, he turned around and with all of his strength threw a punch, right into the opposite wall of the tunnel, there was a massive dent, way bigger the aces physical capability, the anger faded and he felt normal again, from muttering the word to this very moment it too 3 seconds tops. He felt week his knees buckled, his eye sight faded, he dropped to the ground and fainted. A few moments later he opened his eyes again, he felt weak, his hand was broken, and he had a huge head ach.

"Oh my god. Are you okay?" Izzy said as she ran to Ace's side. She grabbed his hand and began to inspect it. "You broke that really bad... even I can't repair it." Izzy pulled her bag off her shoulders and began to fish through it, she pulled out a mall bottle of oil and a bandage and placed them on the floor. She began to recite her spell and a few of Ace's nuckles replaced themselves. "I know that was probably painful but unfortunately that's the best I can do" Izzy head spun a little from the sudden loss of energy. She grabbed the oil and spread some of it on his hand. "It'll make the swelling go down and help with pain." Then she wrapped the bandage tightly over his hand. "There. That should do it. Just don't try and grip anything otherwise that spell will have been a waste of time. How do you feel, anything else hurting?" She asked genuinely worried about him, his past had given her understanding as to why he was so harsh so she decided to be as nice and understanding as she could.

“Thanks?” Ace questioned the healers motives for being so nice, but did not bother to ask, his hand didn’t hurt before but he was grate full the healer could help a bit, “so when night comes, how am I supposed to fight?, I need to grip the handle to my blades.”, ace sat up and pulled himself over to the wall. Supporting himself with the wall he stood up and examined the creator he made with his fist, “if I use this in a fight I could do some damage to someone’s face!” he said smugly.

"Ya, cause that would go over well..." Izzy sighed at the simple mindedness Ace had. "You can't fight tonight. If i save up my energy I'll be able to mostly heal the break. If you break it again you might lose use of it. So get the idea out of your head and lets get out of here." Izzy through Ace's arm over her shoulder and helped carry his weight out of the dungeon.

"well where are we going to go?" ace asked the healer "there’s no where that’s safe, and you cant fight tonight ether if your trying to save your energy." Ace stopped walking at the bottom of the stairs, he looked back down the tunnel, this is the closest thing he has to figuring out his past, and they had to just leave it, and what was making those loud roars and growls he heard, these were all things that was swirling through his head.

"You've got a point..." Izzy stopped to think. They could stay down there for the night and get back to work the next morning or face the things that go bump in the night. "you know, you have a point." Stay here I'll be right back. Don't move." She ran up the stairs and out into the woods behind Ace's house to pick up a few branches and timbres for a fire and then she ran back into the house and down the stairs. She dropped the wood at the bottom of the stairs and ran back up for a couple chairs, the kitched table. She through them up against the door and borded them up as best she could. "Do you think that'll hold it?" She asked Ace.

"probably, but i need my book, and coat if you don’t mind, not to mention all the stuff you left out there" ace said to the healer "besides neither one of use has eaten today." he reminded her "look we have about an hour till sun set, there’s a farm about 10 minutes down the road, and i saw some chickens running around there, lets go grab some veggies and a chicken from there, some pots and materials from the kitchen and we will cook something to eat and start at our mission again tomorrow, besides it nicely lit down here, and the walls are strong, we should be safe for the night, but we both need to eat." Ace started to walk up the stairs, still drained of energy it took allot of effort to do just this simple task, "you run and find some food and ill grab the stuff we need from the kitchen and our other stuff." ace pulled a chair out of the way.

"Okay... And just so you know, my name's Izzy." She said as she ran out of the dungeon. Izzy felt bad that she knew his name against his will. She walked as quick as she could toward the farm, she didn't want to be outside any longer than she had to. Ace was right about the chickens running around outside, but they didn't look very appealing. For five minutes she ran around trying to catch one until finally she get one by the legs, she went and pulled a couple vegetables from the garden. She looked to the sky to see that the sun had nearly set. "Crap." She had about 2 minutes to get back into the house before the infected ones woke up for the night. She bolted for the house. She ran as fast as she could and burst through the door with a minute to spare. She called out to Ace, "If you're not already down there get down here now!"

Ace walked out from around the wall at the bottom of the stairs, "what’s all the yelling about?" he asked, "come look", Ace had set the dining room table up agenst one wall and set a chair up on ether side, in the center of the table was a candle stick holding 3 candles, a bowl set on a plate in front of the two chairs, there was a spoon, a knife, and a fork was placed on the table beside each plate. In the center of the room there was a small fire with a pot of water hanging over it, and cushions from the couch laid out in to a small bed on the other side. "We can make stew from what you got at the farm, and all your stuff is over by the cushions. By the way my name is Ace. After you fixed my hand up I needed to do something nice for you.”

Izzy breathed a sigh of relief at not having to hide the fact that he had told her his name. She marvelled at what he'd done to the small dungeon "That's so sweet Ace..." Izzy blushed at his thoughfulness when the chicken in her hand croaked and started squirming. "Ew...I'm still holding it... here." She held the chicken out in front of her. "Please, take it, now." She said as she closed the door. "And how're we going to keep the door closed?"

Ace reached out and grabbed the chicken; he took it and slammed it down on the table, he reached over and grabbed a butcher knife from the inside of the table, he lifted his hand and with one motion brought it back down and cut the chickens head off, letting go of the chicken, he turned around, “so you know how to cook?”, the headless chicken ran around the room.

"EW!!!! Yes... but I'm a vegetarian..." Izzy was extremely grossed out by what Ace had just done. "Sweet, cute, but absolutely barbaric." She thought. Skin it, gut it, cut it, and all that other stuff and I'll cook it okay?" Izzy said unable to look at the now dead chicken on the floor.

"Ha-ha ok sounds like a plan, so why are you a vegetarian?" Ace grabbed the chicken and put it on the table, he started to pre-pair it, as Izzy made dinner they talked a bit, ace read his bible, and examined the walls a bit more, when dinner was done they sat down to eat.

"I'm a vegetarian cause of what you just did... that was discusting." She shivered at the memory. "Eat, I'm not hungry." Izzy laughed and sat back in her chair. "Hope it's okay. I haven't cooked in for anyone in a very long time." Izzy inspected the dungeon and the work that Ace had done to it. "you know you really didn't have to do any of this right? You are paying me after all for my help. Or is that no longer included in the deal?" She laughed.

"Ha-ha sorry bout that, but it’s the only way to kill them." Ace laughed. Then got up and pored out a bowl of soup, walked back to the table place the in front of Izzy, and walked over to poor another bowl. "I’m not eating alone, after you cooked!" he sat down, "and yes I am paying you, but that doesn’t mean I can’t make this experience bearable for the both of us." There were sounds of people walking around up by the door, "The infected towns people are looking for us, Shhh!" Ace said. He and Izzy sat quietly for a few minutes till the infected people left, "there gone, and now eat! You need your energy remember" Ace laughed as he ate a spoon full of soup.

Izzy looked at her picked up her spoon and looked at the food on it. Hesitantly she took the spoonfull in her mouth and was surprised she didn't throw it back up. She finished it quickly and tried very hard not to think about what it was. "There, done, happy?" She laughed. "So, what're we going to do tomorrow? You have any ideas?"

"Nope, but we will figure it out when the time comes, we should get some sleep." Ace stood up and walked towards the "bed" made of cushions. "You take the bed" he said as he sat down beside the wall and leaned his back on it.

Izzy sat where she was, she didn't think she could actually bring herself to sleep comfortably when someone else wasn't; but that was usually what caused problems. She thought too much about things and was too kind hearted, it bordered on frustrating and annoying. Izzy sighed, the stress of the last couple of days was beginning to get to her. "Maybe i should just lie down..." She thought to herself and, without giving her conscious the chance to argue she walked over to the make-shift bed and lay down. Though it was comfortable and relaxing it wasn't enough to make her sleep. Unable to sleep Izzy began to soflty sing the lullaby her mother used to sing to her as a child.

Ace sat with his eyes closed for what seemed to be many hours, even though it was probly only a few minutes, he was not able to even think of sleep, listening to the song his mind rased about what had happened. The song slowly died down, quieter and quieter till it was completely gone. Ace opened his eyes, "was Izzy asleep, or did she just stop singing??" ace asked himself, he then stood up and walked to the far end of the hallway, what was this power he had felt? Why was there this tunnel under his parents house? And what did it have to do with his family? Ace sat there pondering over these questions for hours .

Izzy yawned and then heard Ace walk by her, at least she hoped it was Ace. That thought made her open her eyes, though she did so reluctantly. She watched as Ace disappeared around the corner. Izzy got up and peered around the corner and watched Ace as he sat there and just stared. He stayed there for nearly an hour, that's when Izzy decided she was safe to walk over to him. She sat down silently in front of him cross legged and just waited.

Ace Lost to the world sat and stared for a wile, "you should be sleeping." he said with no other reaction, he was fixated on the writing on the wall, "What do you think it means?" he asked, the letters glowed, he wondered if Izzy could even read the writing on the wall, or if it was just him who could, "after this I need answers!" ace said to himself. He turned his head and looked at Izzy, "I said you should be sleeping!"

"I'm not tired." She answered simply. Her eyes drifted to the words and symbols on the wall that Ace was looking at. She read the symbols over and over and realized not only did she not understand them but they were in a language she had never seen or believed she'd even heard of before. However, she did recognize one thing: "It's a riddle of spells." She exlaimed. "But I can't give you an exact translation. Waise Heill or Vakna, that one I'm not sure about. Du Sundavar Freohr, Adurna, Nagz Reisa, Thrysta Deloi, Draumr Kopa, Brisingr." She said softly. The words began to glow birghter but then they stopped. "Like I said, it's not the right language. The spells want to work but the translation isn't literal enough." Izzy tried to think long and hard, recalling all the hours she spent training herself in the art of magic, but nothing resembled the language or the spells close enough would make them work. "Wait, you said something before and it worked. Berserk... Which spell did that activate?" Izzy was extremely curiouse.

Ace stared at Izzy for a few moments as she read over the words, then she turned to him and spoke "Wait, you said something before and it worked. Berserk... Which spell did that activate?" she looked very curious and exited at the same time, "What! Oh ...sorry!" Ace snapped back to reality, “Yah! It was berserk..." the letters to the bottom spell started to glow again, and so did the Ruby. Suddenly Ace heard the same loud hum inside his head, and he felt really hot, his eyes glowed fiery red, and a massive rage came over him again, he started to breath very deeply, "Must not hit wall! Must not hit floor! Must not hit Girl!!" Ace repeated to him self over and over again... about three seconds after it started, the feeling was gone, and once again ace felt weak and tired.

Izzy watched as thebottom spell glowed "Brisingr, berserk..." She though about and tried to make the connection between fire and the word berserk. Then she heard Ace speak. "Must not hit wall! Must not hit floor! Must not hit girl!" Izzy looked at him funny and saw the anger contort his face. He seemed infuriated, that's when she made the connection and took 5 steps backwards. She watched him and waited for him to calm down. She waited and slowly his face reconfigured itself and he looked calm again. "Do you feel better now?" She remained where she was and waited for his answer. "I get the connection... by the way."

"What?" Ace asked very tired and worn out, "What are you talking about?" Ace looked at Izzy and waited for her reply, but before she got a chance to reply he blacked out again.

Ace opened his eyes slowly; the light was intensely bright, "what? Where am I?" then Ace remembered what happened, Ace sat up very quickly and looked around, “Izzy where are you?" she was no where to be seen, the small room was still the same, the pot of soup still sitting over the fire, from the makeshift bed where he was sitting he couldn't see the stairs or down the long hallway. "Where is that girl?" Ace said very frustrated as he forced himself to stand.

Sitting over the still warm pot Izzy dipped a peice of her torn cloak in the water when she heard Ace stirring behind her. She ran over to him with her cloth in her hand and was him trying to get up she sat beside him and said: "Don't even bother trying to get up." She grabbed him by the arms and made him stay where he was. Izzy placed her hands on his chest and whispered "Waise Heill." The spot where her hands touched his chest glowed faintly and she felt a small amount of her power drain and transfer to him. "Feel any better?" she asked as she whipped his forehead from the sweat that had gathered there. "Brisingr means fire." She began. "When you think of fire you think of wild untamable flames right? Well it's the same idea of going berserk. Your anger flares and you become uncontainable; you have to concentrate as hard as you can not to kill the first thing you lay eyes on. Last time you punched the wall and left a huge crater in it. I think these spells manipulate your body. Whether it be your strength or form or other things i just can't think of." She explained to him. She pulled out a peice of paper with the riddles on them. "I wrote them down, these spells were left here for you." She said more than she'd meant to. She hoped he hadn't caught her last words, he'd kill her if he knew that she knew what she did.

"Get off of me, I’m fine!" Ace said as he shoved himself away from Izzy, "What time is it anyway?" he stood up. There was no noise, and so other signs of the infected being upstairs, "we should go see how light it is, see if those things are still up there" ace took a step towards the door then stopped, "how do you know who these spells are for?" Ace stared down at Izzy who was still sitting on the bed

Izzy was stunned by her own words. She was dead and she knew it. She had no way to get out of it and no excuse as to why she would know why the spells belonged to him. She looked up into his eyes and saw the rage in them. Yup, dead, no question about it.

"Look I don’t know who you are but I have been down here for way to long..." Ace looked at the stairs "now I’m paying you to keep me alive wile fighting those thing up there, not to be reading carvings on walls down here, lets go and get this done, ill worry about what you know and why you know it later" ace walked to the stairs, turned back to Izzy, still sitting on the bed, "You coming?"

Izzy eyes wers till locked with Ace's, she was actually scared of him. She didn't know what to do or say so she got up and followed him to the door. She desire to tell him what she knew assulted her, she wasn't a liar and the knowledge made her feel guilty. "This is your house... well your parents house.That's how i know the carvings are meant for you... you're the only one who could use them." She admitted quietly. "I saw it... outside..." She felt tears come to her eyes. she had tried to hide them before but the full force of the memories didn't allow her to hide them anymore. "You were taken from here... and your mom. I'm sorry I didn't know. I was just curious."

Ace stopped, he was two steps from the top of the stairs, "What!" he looked back, "what did you just say?" he turned back and faced the door, he dropped his head in shame "you? How do you know all of that?", he lifted his head "you know what, it doesn’t matter. That was along time ago, and I’m different then I was then!" Ace became enraged as all the memories he had kept hidden rushed back to him, "F*CK THIS!" Ace yelled as he lifted his foot in the air and kicked down the door. The door flew across the small hallway and smashed on the wall, Ace stormed through the door. One of the infected towns people was standing inches from aces face, the towns person opened his mouth wide and was about to let out a huge Roar but Ace reached up and grabbed the towns person by the neck, lifting it two feet off the ground. "Not this time!" Ace threw the town’s person across the room, pulling his weapon out stormed across the room after it, as it stood up it went to let out another Roar, but this time ace lifted his blade in the Air and rammed it down his throat!

Izzy ran out after him and began to sing a song in the highest range she knew. She sang it as loud as she could and then manipulated the frequency to hurt the ears of the infected and stop them in their tracks. Luckily for her their ears were more sensitive than human ears and it worked perfectly even though it caused them to scream in agony it was a small price she was willing to pay.

Pulling his second blade out, ace noticed there were two infected standing right out side the window screaming in pain, Ace turned and charged straight at the large window that took up most of the wall, with his last step he pushed off the floor and jumped, shattering the glass and tackling the two to the ground, he was quickly thrown back into the air and landed a few feet away with a thud! Ace quickly pulled himself to his feet, and squared off with the two incredibly strong, and pissed off infected towns people. Ace ran at them and they ran at him, just before the three collided ace dropped to the ground and slid between the two, arms out reached and weapons ready, the blade sliced there feet off like butter, the two dropped face first, into the ground. Standing back up and looking down at the two ace felt no remorse for who they once might have been, right now they were the scum of the earth, not fit to live, they were dirt, no lower then dirt, and they had no place left on this earth. Without even a second thought ace out his boot on one of there heads and put his weight on it, squat between the hard ground and Aces boot the infected head slowly crushed, the sound of bones breaking could be clearly heard, and the puss and blood mixture oozing out of every orifice in its disgusting deformed head, didn't bother Ace at all.

Izzy looked at what Ace was doing and nearly hurled at the sight of him crushing its head. Continuing her song she stabbed the few infected ones who stood around her. It was then that the sun showed itself over the hills. "Ace, if you're okay with demolishing your house, help me break down the walls! We can end this now!" The few infected town people who were outside burst into dust. "ACE!?" Izzy called again.

Ace stared at the head crushing under his boot, his rage was worst then any he had ever felt, the puss oozed out of the infected persons head, it was screaming in pain, but ace just kept pushing, "H... Hel...P! mm...Eee!" The infected cried, "So you can still speak?" Ace said still standing on its head, "Mer...Seeyy!" the words were short and sounded like he was out of breath and was on the brink of death, exactly what Ace wanted. "Mercy is for the ones who deserve it! and anyone who begs for mercy is far from deserving." Ace pushed down with his foot even harder, "My BRother... St..ooooP!" the infected person said with even more pain in its voice, "WHAT!... Don't ever call me bother, both my sisters are dead! They would never be turned into one of you!" Ace yelled at the infected. The pressure on its head lightened, the infected turned its squat head just enough to see aces boot raised two feet above its head. Ace drove his foot down as hard as he could, the skull shattered, and the head exploded, for a few seconds ace stood there staring at the mess on the ground that was once a living person. The sun rose over the hill enough that the light covered most of the town. The second infected beside ace started to scream then burst into flames and exploded startling ace back to reality, he looked down the road as most of the infected ran for cover. They were fast, but it’s hard to outrun the sun, almost all of the infected burst into flames before reaching a "safe" house, which was a relative term seeing as how ace planed on hunting them down. that ace could see 3 infected managed to get into houses before the sun got them, "there is only 3 left, why would we destroy the house" ace said still staring down the road, "lets go."

Izzy stared at Ace in shock and disgust. He was showing his newest victim no mercy and the stuff coming out from its head enough to make her want to vomit. He was no longer the somewhat thoughtful man he was the previous night, he had become a monster fueled by his rage and sadness, and Izzy was truly terrified of him and the monster she’d unleashed in him. It also made her sad, Izzy had hoped that there was the possibility of finding a friend in Ace. Izzy didn’t remember ever having anyone she knew would stay by her with any degree of permanence and now she wasn’t sure if she could even stand to be friends with Ace. “I’ll just finish with this and get out of here.” She thought to herself. “Let’s go!” She heard Ace call to her and that snapped her out of her own thoughts. “Let’s go? Go where?” She shot back harsher than she intended.

Ace started walking in the direction that the infected people were running. Izzy called after him "Let’s go? Go where" he stopped "to finish this" ace stared down the road "I’m not the person you thought I was" still not turning around he continued "I’m a monster, trained to kill; I have no remorse for living things, and no regret for anything I have done. You were the first person to ever think there was another side to me, I’m sorry to inform you there isn’t!" Ace started to walk down the road again, still not looking back to see if Izzy was even coming, he didn't much care what she was doing, if she came along then he would get this finished with faster, if she didn't he would get all the money to himself.

"Ya, okay..." She thought to herself. She rolled her eyes and followed him. "So mr.badass," She said her tone dripping with sarcasm. "How exactly do YOU intend to finish this?" Izzy became about as distant with him as he had been with her. He was being a whiney little baby who had taken deep displeasure with the world and was taking it out on her. She wanted so badly to leave him here to finish this on his own but not only did she know that wasn't the way to go about solving a problem, she needed the money and she wouldn't have the heart to do it. Sometimes, to her deep regret, she hated being as kind as she was. "Well?" She asked again.

Completely ignoring Izzy's sarcastic comments Ace waked down the road, "ill show you how." he said as he stopped and looked at the house to his right, "wait here!" he walked up to the door, then looked at the sky, "ok no clouds, no chance of surviving." Ace reached for the door knob, he opened the door and walked into the house, closing the door behind him. It was dark in the house the windows were boarded up and there were no lights on, this made it very hard for ace to see. He walked down the hallway and peered around the corner, there was one infected person standing in the center of the room, walking as quietly as possible he snuck to the infected person and tapped him on the shoulder, its eyes shot open, ace had his fist raised and pulled back, as soon as its eyes opened ace drove his fist into its face, the infected flew back across the room and with a loud crash it smashed into a cabinet, collapsing the cabinet down on itself. Ace stood waiting for the dust to settle, out of the cloud of dust the infected person charged at ace, "BERSERK!" Ace yelled, Ace jumped into the air, twisting his body and hips he threw his bodyweight, outstretched his leg, and kicked the charging infected person clean in the side of the head, it flew across the room again, this time toward the boarded up windows, it hit the ground and rolled it was only a few feet from the window, ace landed on his two feet and instantly started to charge at the infected, it stood up and screeched then started to charge at ace, as the spell began to fade from his body ace felt weak again, "I cant loose!" ace whispered to himself he closed his eyes and yelled "AHHHH!" out of pure rage the power of the spell seemed to come back to him, the two collided, less then a second later ace felt the boarded up wondow in front of him brake, then he felt the hot glow of the sun on his body, he opened his eyes, he was out side, a few feet above the ground with his two arms wrapped around the burning waste of the infected, the body burnt away and turned to dust, as for ace he fell and smashed onto the ground.

She followed him toward the house and then waited outside like he instructed. "whta was the point in me even coming! Your so damn independant!" She shouted at him kind of hoping that he wouldn't hear. She folded her arms over her chest and stood outside tapping her foot. Then she herad muffled screams from inside. "That sounds promising." She went to walk inside when Ace and the infected exploded from inside the house. The infected one burst into dust particles and Ace landed on the ground out of breath and severly weakened. "There's still two of them left and you went and used all your energy on one, your a real Einstein you know that?"

Panting, Ace sat up, "who says that was all my energy?" Lifting himself off the ground ace leaned on the wall, "yes I’m tired right now, but I wont faint this time at least", turning around ace took a single step and stopped, "and yes I am independent, that matters why?" ace started walking towards the next house, barely able to sport his own weight, he staggered down the road almost as if he was drunk, after about 50 feet he looked back, Izzy was still standing in front of the door, "you coming?"

Izzy sighed as she watched Ace attempt to walk away, he was trying to look strong, he wasn't very sucessful. "You coming?" He asked. She giggled at him and walked towards him. "So have a plan yet, or are we just kind of winging it?" She asked.
