Ajal Ruakien

Name: Ajal Ruakien
Age: Appears 23 years old
Race: Ilthurian
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Green
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 175 lbs.
Occupation: Wandering Healer

Personality
Ajal is a carefree spirit. He sees life as something to be enjoyed, but he is aware that too much of a good thing can be bad. “Everything in moderation,” is his motto. He holds the protection of nature and the natural order of things in the highest regard. While he dislikes thing that disturb said order, anger is a foreign thing to him and he has never known hate. Dealing with unnatural things is merely something he was created to do, certainly nothing worth getting all worked up over. He can enjoy the company and confines of a crowded tavern just as easily as he can enjoy the solitude of a quiet forest

Appearance
Ajal is a tall, humanoid creature. He has a lanky build but appears to have at least some muscle about him. He looks scruffy: he is unshaven, although he lacks anything that could be called a beard, and his clothes are rumpled and unkempt. Even his wide-brimmed, straw hat appears worn. It is frayed about the edges and its color is a darker yellow than what a new straw hat would look like, as if it has seen many years of use. The rest of his clothing consists of a dark-red pair of trousers tied about the waist with a simple cord, a light-green shirt and a tan vest. His pants are denim, his shirt is linen and his vest is leather.

History
From time to time, Gaia, or Mother Nature, finds that that with which she has been entrusted is out of balance. Whether this be from creatures supposed to be dead roaming the land, to massive amounts of magic unbalancing the natural order of things, Gaia sees fit to correct the imbalance, whether through a massive force or something more subtle. That something more subtle is a creature called an Ilthurian.

Ilthurians are, essentially, avatars of Gaia. They have as much control over the elements as Gaia deems necessary for dealing with whatever was disrupting the balance. Gaia won't create more than two or three Ilthurians at a time, as problems that require more are most often dealt with my something stronger, such as a volcano or the sinking of a continent. They are beings that might as well be directly controlled by Gaia; near-mindless drones that exist to do nothing but carry out her will. Once their task is complete, they are absorbed back into Gaia, rejoining the life-force that created them.

From time to time, however, an Ilthurian, being made out of pure Life energy, will attain sentience. Their basic nature forces them to complete the mission for which they were created, but once that is done, Gaia does not immediately absorb the Ilthurian back into herself. Instead, she asks the creature if it wishes to continue existing or not. For those that choose life, Gaia gives them a name, some general knowledge about where they are and how to interact with other creatures, and sends them off. (Those that don't, of course, end up becoming part of Gaia again.) Ilthurians retain their instinctive knowledge of nature and the elements, and even their control of the elements. Gaia reduces an Ilthurian's control to a minimum, but allows the control to grow and develop, thus giving the Ilthurian the same chance as any other natural creature at survival.

This is what happened to Ajal. He was created to deal with a large number of undead and their creator. During the course of his mission, he encountered a small child being held prisoner for some reason or other. His compassion for the creature was such that the Life within him became sentient, giving him a desire to exists for the sole purpose of helping people affected by the imbalance in nature. After dealing with the Necromancer and rescuing the child, Gaia gave him the choice between sentience and merging back together with the life-stream. He chose sentience.

And so Gaia granted him Life and free-will. He would be able to choose his own path from now on, no longer restricted by Gaia's will. However, like most Ilthurians who choose to go on living, Ajal retained a strong connection to nature and strives to protect it.

Skills/Abilities/Attributes
The Elements: Ilthurians derive their power from nature, specifically, from the five elements: Fire, Earth, Water, Wind and Life. The fifth element isn't so much an element by itself, as it is comprised of the four other elements and yet is separate from them, such as how light is normally white, but is comprised of seven different colors. At the outset, Ajal can only control the elements to an extent limited by range and the amount of each element. He can create and/or control an amount of each element equal to a sphere with a diameter of six inches.

Each element that he creates is something a bit more than the element itself. Whenever he generates an element, it springs to being as sphere of energy, which he calls Primals, colored according to what element it is: Fire is red, Earth is green, Water is blue, Air is silver, Life is white. Each primal can then be turned directly into their element, taking on a form designated by Ajal, or used for another purpose having to do with that element. He can only control one primal at a time.

In general, each element can sense itself and tell the general properties of things similar to it, as well as detect the presence of the opposing element, though nothing terribly specific about it other than it's general direction and intensity. For instance, Water could detect water sources within thirty feet of Ajal and tell if the water was drinkable or not. Water can also detect if fire is nearby, but not if the fire is magically controlled or if it is natural, what started it and so on.

When creating an element, there are times when the size of the element that he can manipulate is limited to something smaller than his sphere. For example, the Earth element encompasses a variety of materials, from metal to dirt. The amount of dirt he can create or control is much greater than the amount of iron he could use or create with the same amount of power. Likewise, the three other base elements are dictated by the density (or intensity in regards to Fire) of how much Ajal has control over them.

The element of Life is a bit different than the other elements, though it retains many similarities. Life can detect whether or not nearby things are alive, how strong the life is, if there is anything wrong with the Life (though not necessarily what exactly is wrong with it), etc. It can also detect the forces of Unlife nearby, such as those given off by the undead. Life can be used to bolster the Life of something with Life, in a similar way that a battery low on power can be recharged with electricity. This serves to heal a creature by speeding up the natural healing process of the body. At the moment, Ajal cannot use Life to restore Life to something that has lost it. He will never be able to place Life into something that is not intended for it, such as a someone who has died from natural causes or some sort of inanimate object. He will also never be able to give more Life to something than it normally has and he cannot control Life that he did not create or that he has used.

Knowledge of Nature: Ajal was born directly out of nature, so he has something of an understanding of its inner workings. He can figure out how stuff in nature works by observing it or examining it. He doesn't so much 'figure it out' as he feels what's going on, allowing his instincts to guide him.

Physical attributes: Ajal is no stronger than your average human, although he is a bit less durable. He cannot stand up to much physical punishment. To somewhat make up for this, he is agile enough to dodge blows that would normally destroy him. He is average in strength, 1.5 times as agile as an average human, but only .75 times as durable.

Equipment
A quarterstaff. Made out of oak.

Hi there and welcome to Althanas! I'll be going over your profile and proposing any changes that need to be made to it before you can be approved. I do apologize for the wait on this, unfortunately I've been rather sick for the past few days and am still not feeling %100.

Physical attributes - he can be 1.5x as agile as the average human. It's a bit easier than saying 'above average', easier to gauge.

Knowledge of Nature - I know this seems like an innocuous thing to have knowledge of, however, Ajal is a level zero character and can't have mastered anything at this point in time. So, he may now know everything there is to know about nature. But he may still have instinctual knowledge of it. He just can't know everything.

If I understand your skills with elements correctly, you can form small sized spheres of those base elements that you can use to sense water, fire, wind (not sure why you'd need to sense that) earth and nearby life signs. You can speed up people's natural healing ability, cast fireballs, throw spheres of rock or earth, throw spheres of high powered wind and even spheres of water.

I'm going to have to ask you to remove the infusing part of the elemental skills for now, feel free to have him 'learn' it at a later level.

Once you make those changes, post here again to let me know it's been done.

No worries. I've made the changes: took out the infusing thing, rewrote the knowledge bit and clarified the physical attributes.

And for sensing wind? Wind is generally invisible, so if someone were to make some sort of magical creature made of wind or air, Ajal would be able to tell that it's there and that it's some sort of magical entity.

All right, you are Approverized!

Just remember not to continually use those magical abilities, after all they're going to drain his energy. ;)
