((G'day, I'm from Dark Rain. There should be a bunch of other guys coming here too, to be exact, my partner and another pair of roleplayers. I hope this is okay ^.^))
Name: Syaoran Li
Age: 47
Race: Vulpse Homosapien
Hair Colour: Fiery orange
Eye Colour: Teal
Height: 6 Foot 3
Weight: 100 kg
Occupation: Scholar
Personality:
Syaoran considers himself to be the embodiment of conceptual thought, having at all times a metal bound book hanging from his belt so he may indulge himself in writing out his insightful findings. The beast retains a cool head, even in the worst of times, for he has spent his entire life living with the danger of being purged from the earth. Syaoran , while keeping a calm face and a neutral face, is filled with great rages and horrors that seep out when the battle is dire, using the primal strengths and unbound instincts to finish off his foes.
Appearance:
Syaoran looks to be a humanoid beast, to be more specific, a fox. Syaoran's paws are humanoid in nature, but covered in fur and padded, little claws neatly kept on the ends of the figures. The beast's face was that of the animal in question. His maw was long, whiskers next to his black wet nose and long lips that hid pearly white sharp teeth. Syaoran's eyes, unlike the body, were human. Sparkling teal orbs with deep pupils. The facial features of the beast was covered to mostly all by a wide rimmed straw hat, a black one way veil surrounding his face and draping just to his shoulders.
The fox stood tall and commanding, his fluffy ear tips black and always listening. The mane served as hair, sticking out from the main body of fluff that covered his body. The fur's colour was that of the common European Red Fox, comprised of deep reds, oranges and browns. The beast is generally clad in a long, forest green trench coat that contains the various writing and weapon implements.
The next layer down is a hard steel breastplate with various runes burnt into its surface (no arm armour so as to allow the movements required for his elemental magic). The belt is made of heavily grade chainmail, a long silver chain coming off it, holding onto the metal clad book that always hung to the right of the beast. The bottom half of the beast was more to his animal heritage, using the double joints starting with the human front knees, then the animal back joint bellow it. Each length of the leg was wrapped in metal, chain link joining the parts at the joints. The paws of the beast were generally covered by the extra long sleaves of the coat, but underneath the paws were clad in the sharp fighting claws that embodied the ferociousness found inside the animal. To appear human, Syaoran extends the lower joints so that it is completely straight, giving him an extra 6 inches worth of height, this way it only appears that he has knees. During combat, the beast flexes the joints to allow greatest movements.
The tail of the beast was able to slip out of the armoured pants, but generally stayed stuffed inside so the illusion of humanity wasn’t broken.
History:
The fox was born into a wealthy family in a far away place. He is the beginning of the legend of the cursed child. The legend goes as such:
There once was a family called Li whose riches surpassed that of the king, and their very beauty gave light to the darkened streets of the town known as Krask. Every year the family held a ball where people could come and dance and be merry. It was one unfortunate ball that a druid happened to arrive at the villa and saw that the gardens, owned by the Lady Li, were neglected and over-run by weeds. The druid entered and enquired to the couple as to why this was so. Rather than answering, Master Li laughed at the druid telling him to have a bowl of punch and not to worry about it. At the time Lady Li was pregnant with their first child. The druid was infuriated with the way he was treated and immediately cursed the family to always be in connection with the very essence of nature. The Li's laughed it off once more and the druid went on his way. A month later the woman gave birth to a baby, but this was no normal child. The child was a beast, an animal whose teeth caused pain to the woman each and every feeding, the claws cut up the man during play. The child was an abomination.
Syaoran was forced to leave home at age 14, when Krask discovered of his existence and sought to burn him alive for being evil. His entire life was to run and survive. It was at age 23, when he was taught to read by a monk who was also travelling (but for very different reasons), that Syaoran decided his existence was to be with the world, and learn of the world. It is through this understanding that he learnt of his strengths. Rather than hiding in towns, he stayed in dens of animals who accepted him as their own. He also found and developed his ability to manipulate nature, moving elements and growing plants. His entire life brought him to where he was today, a profound thinker who manipulates the world around himself. Syaoran finds himself at this tournament for he believes he has experienced everything possible in the natural world. Now it was time to learn of the artificial world of the humans.
Skills:
Claw Mastery: The fox's natural weapons are his teeth, and his claws, so it was only natural to begin training in the ways of using metallic claws in the same way he may use his natural nails.
Basic (Average) Book Technique: If the time arises, Syaoran has learnt how to use his metallic book as a weapon, but if it is no necessary, he won’t.
Martial Arts (Advanced): The time spent with monks over his entire life has allowed Syaoran to learn various Martial Arts in conjunction with his claws.
Abilities:
Elemental Claws: Syaoran has the ability to focus the energies of a specific element into his own paws thus allowing a greater damage and effect. This is a natural ability given to him by his nature side. This particular ability does not require the element to be around, but can be instantaneously cast if the paws are dipped into the element to make it stick. The magic itself works in by focusing energy into the paws, forcing specific elements to stick to it. The creation of the elemental claws requires the use of Elemental Manipulation to draw in the element to stick to the paws. The element MUST touch the paws(with or without claws) for it to stick to become an Elemental Claw, but the element can be moved to the claw through Manipulation.
Earth: Greater power and the ability to entrench the enemy into the ground on hit. Entrenching occurs by contact with the enemy because the magic that makes earth stick to the claws leaks through the enemy's body, causing the ground to liquify for a moment which makes the enemy sink into it. Once contact is gone, the earth returns to its solid form.
Fire: Intense heat made to blister the skin and melt defences.
Water: A rusting effect on metallic weapons/defences.
Air: Increased speed and allows extended attacks by using a small moving wave of air. The speed increase is only found in the paws, as the air allows the physical form to negate air resistance.
Elemental Manipulation: Due to his connection to nature, Syaoran has the ability to manipulate the nature around himself. It can be as broad as armour made of wisping air, or a giant rock wave. Generally, by using the movement of the body in a specific way, elements can be combined and even amplified. The main purpose of elemental manipulation is to either use the power of the element to buff allies or to throw the element (in varrying forms) to hit the enemy with it, such as forming the throwing ice blades at the enemy, or even just as simple as a giant bolder. NOTE: Syaoran has the power to create elements that do not exist in proximity to him, but it takes time and a lot of focus to create very small amounts.
Earth: To use at full potential, short, fast, sharp movements are required. The Earth is one of the most commonly used elements, as it almost always exists on the ground. The earth can be thrown at the enemy in a blast, or even as a wave, but generally as a buff, the rock is formed around an ally as an extra layer of armour. There is really no limit to how earth can be used, imagination is key. Syaoran can manipulate up to 20 lbs of earth at one time, obviously the denser and stronger the earth the more it weighs and the less he can manipulate of it. NOTE: Magma is molten rock, and so by using earth manipulation, it can be harnessed.
Fire: To use at full potential, flowing movements that come back to the body then out again are required. Fire is used as an offencive attack and sometimes as a buff to make weapons stronger. The fire manipulation is most effectively used to redirect flame based spells away from allies and himself. Sometimes the beast can focus enough to throw fire spells back at the enemy, effectively turning the enemy's spells back against them. Unlike the other elements, because fire burns on the gas released by an object due to heat, the fire itself is amplified and manipulated in the same movements. At this point Syaoran can manipulate fire into spheres up to one foot in diameter, as well as controlling/redirecting fire coming at him, however this tires him greatly and he cannot continually do it.
Eg. A match can be used to create a torrent of flame.
Water: To use at full potential, flowing movements and move around the body are required. Water incorperates all forms of the element, liquid, solid and gas. It is the free transformation of changing the element through these forms, then throwing it at the enemy. Commonly, water is turned to ice then shot at the enemy as super thin needles. Syaoran can manipulate up to 10 lbs of water before he begins to grow tired.
Air: To use at full potential, movements must be localized to focus on one point are required. Air manipulation is the most 'friendly' of all manipulation, mainly used as a means of assisting allies. By creating an layer of air around an ally, all air resistance can be neglected, allowing a greater speed with less effort required. Air is not commonly used as a damager, as it is difficult to focus the freeroaming element into a focal point on an enemy, but it can be done, generally in the form of air blades. Syaoran can produce air around an ally for up to 1 minute.
Metal: No movement required but vast amounts of energy. Metal is not a common use of manipulation during battle because of the ratio of energy expended and results. This can be used to change any metal object into another metalic object, but just like with the other elements, can just be used to throw the element at high speeds at the enemy. A basic, and one of the least manipulations is just to pull away an enemy's weapon such as a sword to disarm them. Right now, Syaoran can manipulate metals of Plynt and below.
Lightening: Lightening is a very chaotic element that can not be created, only harnessed. It can not be mechanically made, it must be cast in a spell or shot from the sky for it to be manipulated into other things such as a sword or just aiming it at someone else. Like metal, it requires no movement but requires a lot of energy.
Nature's Connection: The fox, because he is half animal, can convey with animals and can attempt to 'borrow' them for various tasks. Commonly, Syaoran uses birds to send messages or distract the enemy.
Beastly Advantages: Due to the fact Syaoran is half beast, half human, his strength and senses are greatly enhanced to the points of seeing in the dark, hearing distant noises, following scents and amplified strength. The downside to being a half fox is that he stinks like a rotting carcass due to glands excreting scent. *the strength aspect to Beastly Advantages is 3x an avarage human's strength
Philosophical Considerations: Syaoran's life has led him to solve puzzles and the questions of life, allowing him to think through illusions and tricks of the tongue by concentrating on the realities of the world and the truth.
Equipment:
Steel Gauntlet Claws: The main weapon of Syaoran Li. These are metallic plate gloves that make sharp points at the tips of the figures, allowing the use of elemental spells and a great amount of mobility while fighting. Because they are gloved in nature, the metal can be used to deflect sword swings with an open palm.
Bird Seed: A common favourite food amongst birds used by Syaoran to lure birds in, using his Nature's Connection to convert them to do his bidding.
Nature's Voice by Syaoran Li: The metal clad book that hangs from a silver chain on the belt.
The Cross of the Saintly Spirit: An item given to Syaoran by an ancient wise man of the church. The curious artefact allows any raw source of energy to be converted into holy magic. This holy magic can only be used to heal physical wounds and mental ailments. The cross works on the basis of conversion, so it can be used as much as nessisary, so long as Syaoran can spare the magical energy to do so. ((A real world example would be a conversion plug for electricity, like if your from Aus, you use an American converter so you can plug into a socket in America)) *The forces that Syaoran uses to manipulate the elements can be focussed as a raw energy into the cross.
Double Plated Steel Armour: All metallic armour worn by Syaoran is double plated. The beast can stand to wear more weight than a normal human so he took advantage of it as best he could.
Veiled Straw Hat: A hat worn by Syaoran to hide his beastly identity. Only up-close can you see into it, but can quite easily see out.
Trench coat, forest green: Nothing fancy, a trench coat that holds items and looks fanciful. To a point assists in keeping Syaoran warm (but can easily be done with fur)
NOTES ON THE ELEMENTS: The degree to which the element hurts is directly proportional to the amount of energy put into the attack.
