Caduceus Grimaldi - Qaballistic Magician - Tournament of Champions Edition

Name: Caduceus Grimaldi
Nickname: Cade or Cad
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Height: 6'
Weight: 150 lb.
Appearance: Caduceus is a pale-skinned young man, owing to his years of study amongst the other magicians of Tel'Han. His hair is a medium brown, streaked with darker browns and reddish portions, coming down to his shoulders when loose and into a close, thick beard and mustache, though he usually has it tied back at the nape of his neck in a sort of low-hanging ponytail. His eyes are a blue-grey, with a penetrating gaze that seems unsettling to those not used to it. He wears dark clothing in the typical Aleraran style -- dress pants, a frock coat and waistcoat over a white button-down shirt and dark necktie. On his feet, he wears well-made shoes of leather.
Personality: Caduceus is a relatively calm fellow, who loves books and thinks constantly of the connections between things, both magical and otherwise. He enjoys solving problems, but gets inordinately frustrated when he is unable to do so. Unlike most other members of Tel'Han, Caduceus worships a god-form known to him as Ain Soph (to be expanded upon in Religion). He keeps his worship of this being low-key to avoid ridicule amongst his fellows, but it is not entirely unknown. After his Charms battle with Atzar Kellon, Caduceus has grown a liking for strategy and the thrills of battle.

History: Caduceus was born twenty-three years ago in a small village on the edge of Concordia. He grew up in the Qaballistic community, learning minor magical knowledge as a child, until his thirteenth birthday, when he, being viewed as a man, was told he would need to seek his own knowledge of the workings of the world, and therefore the workings of magic.

He hated to leave his home, but his parents, with tear-filled eyes, agreed to send him to the Tel'Han monks in the Comb Mountains to learn what he could from the magicians there. He left on a merchant wagon, headed for the range, and arrived a few months later in the snowy village among the mountain peaks.

He spent the next ten years of his life there in deep study, quickly forgetting his homesickness and learning to love this new aesthetic lifestyle. While most of his fellow students were strictly secular, he managed to find friends among them despite his religious bent.

More recently, the young magician has met Keyei, one of the elders of Tel'Han. He discovered that the air master had once studied under Israel Regardie, a great Qaballist who is rumored to have mastered the most powerful Divine Name, the Tetragrammaton, and alongside Caduceus' former master, Chic Cicero. Keyei, recognizing the budding potential in the Qaballist, loaned his only momento of Israel, a book by the man titled "The Golden Dawn," to Caduceus in order to aid him in his attempts to further his magical prowess. He also gave a small suggestion for future magical growth that he should attempt the art known as Skrying in the Spirit Vision, or Astral Projection as it is more commonly known.

Since then, Caduceus faced off against his colleague Atzar Kellon in a Charms match, ending in the magician's loss, though that only drove him to love battle's surprises all the more.

The young magician now leads, alongside Ceidon Loré and others, the organization known as the Order of the Golden Dawn.

Religion: Caduceus worships a divine entity he calls Ain Soph as a part of an ancient semi-monotheistic religious tradition among his native people known as the Qaballah. This god-form is literally "nothing," and therefore more powerful than any other god, goddess, demon, or angel known to the rest of the world, at least as far as Qaballistic reckoning goes. The Qaballah recognizes the existence, however, of these other divinities as lesser beings vying for power under Ain Soph. Central to his religion is the study of magic and the idea of the Tree of Life as a map of attributions to the universe and man. The common credo among Qaballists "As above, so below" refers to the relationship between the macrocosm, or the world, and the microcosm, or the man.
Skills:
Elemental Magic:
Fire Summoning- Caduceus can launch balls of fire that, at his option, can explode upon impact, or simply leave burning flames on the target. He may also launch two of these fireballs at lesser strength simultaneously. Further, Caduceus may use this spell to summon a flame to his hand, holding it there as a weapon that does not burn him. He can, alternatively, create a bright, but harmless, flame to float nearby, merely providing light (often to read by). Yahweh Tzabaoth.
Wind Blast- Caduceus can summon up gusts of wind to push against objects or foes with a reasonable amount of force. He can also manipulate the direction of these blasts to form a shield of sorts against ranged attacks, and some magical attacks. Further, he can cause the air around him to swirl in a momentary cyclone, buffeting those around him and thwarting most ranged attacks. Shaddai El Chai
Shield of Sand- Caduceus can call upon mud, sand, soil, or whatever the prevailing earth variety (aside from large stones) to momentarily protect him from blows. This ability is more effective against ranged attacks than melee, though because the earth packs tightly it is still serviceable in melee. Adonai ha-Aretz.
Icy Grip- Caduceus can call upon the elemental energy of Water to freeze inanimate objects and small portions of living bodies. If used on living flesh, the spell causes frostbite on the affected area, and a small portion of the flesh, and some metals of plynt strength or weaker, may become brittle enough to break off. Further, Caduceus can use this spell to freeze the water in the air into a shard of ice shaped according to his will into an object roughly the size of a small shield or one-handed weapon. Elohim Tzabaoth.
Vital Force Magic:
Lay on Hands- With the laying on of hands, Caduceus can channel his own vital force into healing power for himself or someone else. This will heal damage proportionate to the amount of investment made, though Caduceus' own vital force powers this and so he cannot heal more than minor wounds without becoming incredibly exhausted.
Summoning Magic:
Ghob- Caduceus has made a contract with the Elemental King of Earth, the Paracelsian Gnome Ghob, and may summon him once per day with a proper circle and short (one post) calling. The ritual calling takes one post and a properly designed circle. If the circle or the ritual is interrupted, the summon is wasted for the day. The summoning may last for up to five posts of combat, or an hour of less strenuous activity. Ghob's profile can be found at the bottom of Caduceus'.
Astral Magic:
Etheric Vision- Caduceus is capable of calling upon his astral sight to see the auras surrounding people and objects, with a limited ability to see past or through matter.
Astral Projection- Caduceus, having traversed the path of Tau and attained the Zelator grade, is capable of projecting his mind across the planes into the Astral. He cannot yet communicate with material beings in this form, but he can observe. Anything that happens to his astral body will likely happen to his physical body.
Mental Shielding- Caduceus is capable of temporarily and partially cutting himself off from the Astral plane. While this is in effect his magical power is reduced and some of the higher-powered funtions of his spells cannot be used. As well, he cannot maintain a link to the Astral by which to call upon Ghob while this is in effect. However, it allows him some measure of defense against mental and magical assaults, as most spells touch on the Astral plane and draw energy from the Astral to maintain their hold on the Material, no matter where the energy to create the spell originated. This does not allow Caduceus to ignore magical and mental effects, but it does allow him to reduce magical damage and likelihood of mental tampering.
Astral Suggestion- Caduceus can reshape his astral body with some effort to cause moderately-willed NPCs and PCs, or lower-level PCs to see him as he wishes them to. This does not change his actual anatomy, only disguise it to onlookers. His voice and scent are changed as well, though if a false part of his anatomy is touched, the illusion will be shattered for that individual. The effort required for the illusion is dependent on how grossly different from Caduceus' own form it is, and how different the new form's thought processes are. This manipulation of his astral body requires focus such that he can only perform the most rudimentary spells while under the veil.
Elemental Temper- When experiencing an intense emotion, Caduceus' elemental magic pertaining to the corresponding element may become heightened according to the strength of the emotion.
-The Choleric Temper (Fire): Valor, loyalty, enthusiasm, eagerness, irritability, passion, anger, jealousy.
-The Sanguine Temper (Air): Kindness, diligence, cheerfulness, eagerness, dishonesty, fear, contempt.
-The Melancholic Temper (Water): Compassion, devotion, meditation, calmness, tenderness, indifference, sadness, secretive, lustful.
-The Phlegmatic Temper (Earth): Resolve, firmness, seriousness, thoroughness, objectivity, greed, anger, obsession.
Other:
Dagger proficiency- Caduceus can wield his athame, or any other knife, with advanced proficiency, and throw with similar accuracy.
Equipment: The clothing mentioned in his appearance.
Cup of Water- Caduceus has in his possession a cypress liviol goblet with a blue sapphire embedded in the bowl. It can fill up with cool, clear water twice a day upon the command "Canse Zelida." When animal or vegetable matter is placed within this cup and water is summoned into it, it may, upon the beginning of the next post, mix into a potion to bestow the arcane properties of that animal or vegetable matter upon the drinker for the next five minutes. These potions improve inherent abilities and attributes only, improving them by .5x. Example 1: Caduceus' stamina is wearing down and he decides to use a coffee bean he has with him to make one of these potions. Upon drinking the potion that results, his energy is renewed by half, bringing him closer to normal but not quite there. Example 2: Caduceus is faced with a need for greater speed than he possesses. So he makes a potion from the meat of a rabbit or other small, fast critter. Upon drinking the potion, he finds that he is 1.5x as fast as he was previously. Note: This does not multiply already enhanced attributes by 1.5x. This only increases by .5x, bringing 1.5x to 2x, for example.
Dagger of Air- Caduceus has in his possession a prevalida athame with an enchantment to return to him when thrown, so long as it lands within fifty feet of him.
Wand of Fire- Caduceus has in his possession a wand of liviol yew with a rod of magnetized steel inside and a fire opal at the tip. Once per thread, this wand can be used to charge a spell with the expansive properties of fire, creating a blast of the primary element (air, cold, or earth) of size and strength equal to Caduceus' fireball spell.
Pentacle of Earth- Caduceus has in his possession a pentacle necklace of mythril enchanted to increase its wearer's resilience and physical toughness. While wearing this amulet, Caduceus' skin becomes as resistant to damage as leather in places.

Elemental King of Earth, Ghob

Name: Ghob
Age: Ageless
Race: Elemental King
Height: 7'3"
Weight: 325 lb.
Occupation: Elemental King of Earth and Gnomes

Personality: Like all Gnomes, Ghob is usually patient and hardworking, but when angered he has been known to become malicious and difficult.

Appearance: Ghob is a Gnome. Not a burrowing gnome who builds machines and loves pranks and illusions. A Gnome of the Earth. He carries characteristics of all the different varieties of Gnomes: Elves, Satyrs, Brownies, Dryads, and still more. His skin is of smooth wood, beautiful and hardy. Ram-like horns of stone curl out of each side of his skull, over the tips of his long, pointed ears. Hair ranging in shades of russet, black, and other earthy colors flows back from atop his head, as well as covering his goat-like legs. Various sigils are carved into his oaken flesh, and atop his head is a crown of moss. From this crown, there appears to have grown a variety of precious gems all around and throughout. He wears no true "clothes," though his genitals and buttocks are hidden beneath thick hair.

Skills:
Fighting Style:
Earth Command- Ghob is so powerfully attuned to the element of Earth, representing the rocks, soil, stones, and vegetation of the world, that he may control any of these at will. Plants obey his command, earth quakes and reshapes at his will. He is usually reserved in his use of this ability, but when he is angered the land itself will become his staunch ally. He may raise a 4x4-foot wall of earth and stone with some effort. As Caduceus grows in power, his skill in summoning will grow and more of Ghob's power will come into play.
Purely Unarmed- Ghob refuses to fight with anything but his own body, which he is a master at using as a weapon. Horns, fists, knees, and hooves fly and there are few mortals who can match him.
Earth's Embrace- As an extension of his unarmed prowess, Ghob is skilled in grapples. He knows what hurts, what disables, and what frustrates beyond reason.
Personal Traits:
Immortal Knowledge (Earth)- Ghob may be called upon for counsel rather than for battle. When he is called for this purpose, he may impart knowledge of all things that concern the Earth and construction.

I've been asked to step in.

Ghob is a rather tall gnome, by any stretch of the imagination. I'm fine with the profile as written provided Ghob's strength in combat is supplemental to Caduceus (meaning Ghob can only amplify your character's own power) or if you limit his use to 1 attack per summon (advising Caduceus notwithstanding). Let me know how you prefer to do it, or if you have another suggestion.

You should just use Ceidon, it would be easier ;)
