Name: Quintrel "Quint"
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Height: 6’2”
Weight: 180 lbs
Hair Colour: Brown
Eye Colour: Emerald
Occupation: Troubleshooter

Personality: Quintrel is a private and self assure individual. Quint has clung to his battle school training though it’s been well over ten years since the fall. In Quint’s mind keeping the training alive is an act of defiance against those who struck down his people. Beneath his placid, disciplined exterior Quint is a sharp witted and passionate person. He never forgets a kindness and never forgives a slight.
Quint appreciates the finer things in life and partakes of them whenever possible. He is not however flamboyant in his pursuits. Rather his grace and finesse express themselves in a fluidic efficiency that is a wonder on the dance floor and a terror upon the battlefield. Quint has always possessed a defiant or rebellious nature which comes the surface in the presences of authority or those who believe themselves better than he.

Appearance: One impression dominates the man’s features: Confidence, a sort of refined self assuredness which permeates ever ounce of this mysterious stranger. From the meticulously maintained military crew cut of his hair, to his polished soft leather high boots which seem as though never to have been touched by mud or soil.

His step and movements are to the trained rhythmic pattern which beats true with in the heart of all soldiers yet there is finesse within them that tell of the birthright all Breyton’s possess. What surprises you most about this cutting figure is his lack of military insignia. Rather than the uniform of the rank and file Quint simply wears a long and flowing brown leather duster, about which is draped a fine blood red Scarf which seems to trail nearly to the ground regardless of the many loops coiled about his neck. You wonder quietly to yourself what hidden dangers could lie beneath such a simple wrapping but fearful of rosining this intimidating but dapper figure, with his wide brimmed leather hat resting peaceful over his eyes you decided it best to allow your imagination to sate the burning curiosity with in you.

Looking at the man’s face, the hat partially obscuring the view you realize that this stranger has survived much hardship. Already the lines of time cut across his checks and you remember his eyes as they passed over you upon his entrance. Grey like cold slate but with a frightening twinkle as if a thunder cloud preparing to let lose. Following from his face down the row of finely polished bronze buttons which adorn the center of his great jacket you come across his hands covered in traditional Cryan fashion the fine reddish brown leather gloves have flames tooled across the back palm side along the edge of which are written longs strings of runic alphabet.

Equipment:

Quint’s Duster: Made of finely worked leather the great coat was custom made for its wearer. It length fall to just below Quint’s calves and hangs loose from his shoulders its sleeves end and inch or so beyond his wrists. The inside of the coat is quite voluminous a fact it’s owner has capitalized upon with a great number pockets and straps which line either side of the jacket. The majority of which are designed to hold magazines for his repeating crossbow. Not all of the customizations are material in nature. Quint has had the jacket imbued with a minor magical aura which makes it incredible resistant to damage be it acid, fire, slashing, or piercing. The coat is not immune to such effects nor does it protect the wearer in any great degree from the forces associated with these factors it is however remarkable more resilient than even superior quality mundane leather could be.

Quint’s Runic Gloves: These gloves serve as focus items for the majority of Quint’s flame related abilities. The leather of these gloves have been fortified with the same spell as his duster.

Bandoleers & important contents: Quint wears duel bandoleers across his chest beneath his duster. Each bandoleer has 4 loop straps and six small pouches. One of the loop straps in unusable at the point where the two belts cross. At the center of the bandoleers are two steel rods inlaid with copper filigree. These rods are a thumb’s width in diameter and a forearm in length. While primarily used as focus items for his electrical abilities these stout rods have been used in melee in a pinch. The pouches contain a variety of minor trinkets including: a ball of heavy woolen thread, a magnifying lens, a polished had mirror, several small metal marbles, five finger- sized quartz crystals, and five Unguents of mending. A few mending needles of various gauges and shapes. In the loops can also be found two quartz crystals the width of a thumb and the lengths of a forearm, three iron spikes.
The Iron Flask: This dark iron flask appears simple even crude in comparison to most. Its exterior is of little consequence however as Quint keeps it for what happens within. The flask turns any liquid poured in to pure cool water. Though the flask appears to only hold a half liter of water it in fact can hold 2 liters without additional weight.

Weapons:
Quint’s Repeating Crossbow: Quintrel’s prized possession is his light repeater. The modified crossbow is constructed from high quality dark cherry with bronze fittings. The crossbow is designed to receive a 6 bolt magazine which slots into the top bolts are crank feed into position. The weapon can be fired accurately from one hand but is designed for two and requires both to reload. The weapon hangs from a thong on Quint’s belt.

Repeater Magazines: Repeater magazines are interchangeable and require standard sized bolts. Quint keeps a stock of pre-loaded magazines along with a few “specialty” magazines. Typically Quint keeps four standard magazines (loaded into the crossbow) as well as a magazine who bolts have been imbued with fire, acid, electricity, and daylight. It takes two posts to replace a magazine and ready the crossbow the fire again or approximately 20 seconds as Quint is well drilled in the procedure.

Curved cavalry saber: at Quintrel’s side he carries a finely crafted all metal cavalry saber. The steel blade is kept sharp and flowing Breyton script works its way down the back towards the bronze caged hilt.

Boot Knife: a weapon of surprise and last resort Quintrel keeps a utilitarian steel dagger tucked into his left boot.

Armour: Quintrel has always believed that preparation was his best defense. That being said there is a time when the best of plans fall short and the keen observer will note that Quintrel wears a woolen long sleeve tunic, woolen pants, an excessively long woolen scarf coiled about his neck, and even woolen stockings is this simple a fashion statement?

Skills:
Martial training: Quintrel’s youth spent at the battle school as prepared him both mentally and physically for the rigors of battle. He has receive basic training in the standard arms of war. (allowing Quintrel average proficiency with spears, swords, hammers, and axes)

Tactics: Quintrel’s study of great battles and warlords has provided him an insight into the ebb and flow of combat. As a result Quintrel perceives his environment and the actions of those around him in a strategic light allowing him a slight advantage in react to the circumstances around him.

Studies Magicka: Quintrel’s study in the mechanics of force allows him to read and write in the runic language of magical equations. He is also able to interoperate magical auras and residues deducing their purpose or originating force.

Horsemanship: Quintrel has been trained to ride, fight from, and care for horses. His aptitude for riding is above average as his natural Breyton grace seems to express itself naturally in the process.

Bolt and Blade: Quintrel has received intensive training in the use of the cavalry saber (both mounted and unmounted techniques) and well has drill with his repeater for long hours honing these skills to a deadly precision.

Abilities:
Fire weaving: One of the two major forces Quintrel has developed a strong bond with. Quintrel has learned to summon and weave the threads of his will into fire itself. Common examples are for Quint to fling bolts of flame at targets searing whatever they touch or causing highly flammable items to ignite. While the bolts requires only momentary effort, with further concentration Quintrel can produce fiery gouts of flame from his hands or heat metal he touches to red hot. With considerable effort and focus Quintrel can wrap himself in a proactive sheath of flame. While these are natural abilities Quintrel has spent years developing without the aid of a focus item the abilities require far more effort to summon and control.

Dancing Lightning: The second force Quintrel has forged a strong bond with is electricity most commonly expressed in the form of lightning. Quintrel has used his Iron rods to conduct the electricity or to hold charges to be unleashed later.

Steel Wool: One of the first abilities Quintrel has mastered, Quint has learned to alter any woolen product giving it the strength of steel while still maintaining the weight and flexibility of wool. The effect lasts for as long has Quintrel focuses upon maintaining it which prevents him from working any other magic at the time or performing complicated tasks. Once his focus has broken the spell slowly unravels over the course of three minutes.

Minor Imbue: Quintrel has learned to imbue minor force energies into receptive objects. So far he has created an unguent which can repair items it is worked into. The unguent could mend a tare but large gaps would require additional material. The unguent can also be used to repair broken items however all major pieces are required for the mend to work. Quint has also been able to imbue quartz crystal with the ability to radiate light, and minor elemental charges have been successfully imbued into iron tipped bolts. The duration of the charges depend upon the effort Quintrel uses to imbue the item. Imbue a small crystal to glow for an hour would take very little effort. Having an iron bolt hold a specific charge for a week or would be very taxing and doing a dozen or so would be exhausting.

Breyton Birthright: All Breyton are innately gifted with a degree of grace and finesse as well as an inborn sense for aesthetic. They are by nature talented dancers and artisans.

History: Quintrel was a cadet of the prestigious battle school of Breyton. The academy produced the elite battlemages renowned throughout the realm. That was a long time ago however, before the Fall and as far as his world was concerned Breyton was dead and so were the Battlemages. These days Quint was a remnant, discarded and ignored. He had lived his life as a troubleshooter for various wealthy individuals, with the occasional pro bono case thrown in there. When times were lean Quint would switch tactics to troublemaking.
Quintrel had been spending some time in the constable’s care for one such incident when the offer came. Some stranger had paid his bail and with even so much as a word had disappeared again. When Quintrel collected his gear from the constable he found a sealed letter. Upon opening the envelope Quint was surprised the see the letter written in the flowing language of Breyton, an outlawed language since the fall, the letter was addressed to The Battlemage.

Just remember, though the duster is more resilient, it IS still leather based. And what elements can you Imbue into, say, a bolt? Just the fire and electricity that you can control?

I would say that fire and electricity would be the easiest elements for him to work with. That said, given a little extra effort he can work elements he doesn't typically use.

As for the duster I don't view it as armor it simply been fortified so that it won't be in tatters after every encounter. at best it would provide circumstantial benefits from splash effects. if this were a stat heavy setting I would consider it to have increased hardness and marginally increased dr. Above average stabs and strong slices with a keen blade will go right through it.

Alright, just be careful with the elemental charges as overuse can be considered powergaming. However, as long as the charge is 'minor' as you have written it shouldn't be that big an issue.

Approved and good luck with the tournament!
