Jasmine

Updates are in purple

Name: Jasmine Aurora Matrino (uses only first name)

Age: 21

Gender: female

Race: Morian (Race history in history part)

Eye color: sapphire blue, darkens to amythest when angered. (the angrier she is the darker the amythest)

Hair color: black

Height: 5'

Weight: 120 lbs

Occupation: traveling merc

Appearance: Young, and what some, if not many would call beautiful (though she doesn't think she is), Jas is most often seen wearing a snug, dark blue, sleeveless dress with silver trim. Around her waist she wears a silver sword belt and on her feet black leather knee high boots good for walking long distances in. Around her neck she wears a silver locket on a silver chain. Inside it is a picture of her parents on one side and her "brother" and his best friend on the other. Jasmine wears her hair in a long braid that comes down to mid thigh. Jasmine now wears a second locket (http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:4CoyvsX7snkJ:www.althanas.com/world/archive/index.php/t-7870.html+Althanas%3B+Requiem%3B+Jasmine&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1&lr=lang_en&client=firefox-a) next to her first, on the same chain. It currently holds no picture.

Personality: Jasmine is good natured, but has a very quick temper. Her only real vanities are her hair, which she makes sure to take very good care of, and her complexion, which she also takes very good care of. She is generally trusting, but once that trust is lost, it is very difficult to earn it back.

Weapon: Primarily a long straightsword. Handle is a two hand handle wrapped in black leather with silver embroidery (denotes the weapon of the nobility in her homeland) and 2 throwing knives (one sheathed in each boot). The sword is elven steel, the knives titanium
Jasmine also now carries two, 4" steel daggers (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=539&page=2) They each have an ivory hilt with roses carved onto them. These are unsellable. They are for decoration only. The only time they would be used as weapon is if they were the only thing she had on her at the time of an attack.

She also keeps with her a pure white dress (earned in the same place as the ivory-hilted daggers). This dress is a dancing dress and is worn only when she is dancing. This dress is also unsellable

Skills: accomplished swordswoman, but by no means an expert
knife throwing - able to hit a still target at 50 paces, moving target at 10 paces

Magic: 4 forms of fire-
Blue fire – Jas speaks the words “blue fire” a ball of blue flame about the size of a basketball appears in her hand. This she throws at her enemy. It burns whatever it touches for 5 seconds. Should it be blocked with sword or shield, said item will catch fire, but will not likely be harmed.[/color]
Red fire – Again Jas needs only speak the words and a number up to 3. This time when the fireball forms and she throws it, in midair the fireball splits into whatever number she said and each ball changes directions so as to come at the target from several different directions at once. Each burns for 2 seconds, and can only do half the damage of blue fire. As with blue fire, it burns whatever it touches, even if blocked with weapon or shield.
Yellow fir - Yellow fire is non-combatant and is used only for providin light and concentration practice. Right now, Jas can make it glow to produce a circle of light about 5 feet in diameter or as small as a single candle, but has the potential to make it be as large as 10 feet or as small as the head of a pin.
Purple fire: mixture of Red fire and Blue fire. The ball that forms in her hand is purple and the size of a basketball. When she throws it, it splits into 3 balls half that size. Each ball has a kind of “tracer” that makes it head straight for the target in the same fashion as red fire. Like blue fire, it burns for 5 seconds. Each ball does the same amount of damage as blue fire.
Jasmine also no longer needs to say the words for her fire spells.

Restrictions on her magic: Jas can not do more than one form of fire at a time. Blue fire may only be used twice in one day, or red in one. She can not do both red and blue in one day, the red takes more energy to produce though the damage done is much smaller. Yellow fire is almost inexhaustible, but it is noncombatant and can only provide light. How stong the light is depends on her concentration level and stability of consciousness. (If she's unconscious, sleeping, drugged, whatever, she can not produce the light and if she nearing unconsciousness the light will flicker and fade with her concentration) Purple fire can only be used once in a thread, and no combative magic can be used after it for the rest of the thread.

These fire spells can not burn up a weapon unless that weapon is highly flammable. Example: a wooden staff would likely burn up, however metal would only take scorch marks. The metal would light up with the fire, but not take any damage. ((a plain sword, would temporarily be a flaming sword))

A Father’s Love: in times of very great or mortal danger, her sword will become as strong as delyn for the length of two of Jasmine’s posts, due to the spirit of her father putting itself into the blade in an effort to keep her weapon and her body, whole. At that time it will return to the normal steel. Usable once a thread and only against a weapon of delyn or stronger when she is in mortal danger. Jasmine is not yet aware of this and will not be able to call upon it as a normal spell would be called. She has no control over when it activates itself.

((to the mod: if you will not let me have delyn, please tell me what the highest you’ll let me have is and I will change it to that, thanks. I am also aware of the opportunities this may have for powergaming, but I promise, I will use it carefully.))

A Mother’s Love: in times of mortal danger in which her sword is of no use, or A Father’s Love has already been used, the spirit of Jasmine’s mother will form a small bubble around Jasmine. (About 5 feet wide and 5 feet tall.) It will hold for two of Jasmine’s posts and is tinted a pinkish-rose color. Jasmine can be easily seen through it. It will deflect blows from blunt objects and glancing blows. If one were to stab it with a sharp item such as a sword or dagger, the point of the weapon will go through the bubble, though it won’t pop it. The barrier will prevent any other person from entering it, so the weapon’s progression will stop when it the opponent’s hand comes in contact with it. It is impervious to all magic attacks.

Armor: none

History:

Race History:
The Mori race is evolved from several 100 generations of elf and human mixing. Before the race became what is is today, several families of elves and humans left their home on one of the main continents. The name of this home as long since been lost in the pages of history, but it was a place in which relationships between humans and elves were looked down upon.

These families were tired of the looks they got from others of their races and so left to find somewhere where they could live together. After several months on the open sea, they came to a seemingly inhospitable island. Hoping for the best, the ships circled the island and found a narrow entrance through the sheer cliffs that comprised the shore of the island.

Once through they found that there was a wide bay inside and that the land was fertile. Seeing there were no signs of habitation, they beached their ships and settled there.

Over time two cities were born and the Mori race evolved. No one remembers where the name of the island, Moriah, came from, but that is where they derive the name of their race.

The Mori are about average human size. Some look more elven or human than others depending upon the percentage of elven or human blood running in their veins. The average life span is 250-300 years.

Character History:
Jas was born to Lady Maria and Lord Alberto Matrino, in the tiny island kingdom of Moriah. A mere two or three weeks after her birth, her parents along with every findable servant in her parents country estate, were ruthlessly tortured and killed. A small servant boy, who had just come to them that past winter, was given charge of tiny Jasmine and told to "hide real good so the bad men won't find you" (he was 8 years old at the time). Obediently he found a hiding place and was not discovered.

After the last of the murderers had left, little Eric began to make his way to the nation's capitol and to the king, for Lady Maria was the king's younger sister. There Eric told all that had happened. From then on, Jasmine and Eric were raised in the royal palace.

At 15, Jas was informed by her uncle that she was to be named heir to the throne as he had no children and that as she had not chosen a suitor for her husband, one had been chosen for her, Lord Montego.

On her 16th birthday, the day she would be crowned heir and her betrothal announced, her fiancé led a small coup to take the throne. After capturing both king and princess, Montego attempted to force the king to just hand over the kingdom as he did not really want to kill the king. Unfortunately, Montego hit the king once too hard and killed the old monarch.

Having been forced to watch this, Jas was now afraid that he would kill her too and so ran away. She took with her only the sword that had been her father's and a few scraps of food from the kitchen.

A few weeks later she found she was lost, hungry and quite sore, in the jungle in the south of her homeland. A family of the people who lived there saw and took pity on her. They took her in not knowing who she was and taught her how to use the sword she carried and knife throwing.

After 2 years, fearing that Montego would eventually track her down and hurt these people too, she left and made her way from her home to the nearest continent. For the past 2 years she has wandered where ever the fancy has taken her.

Shortly after arriving in the small town of Underwood, Jas made several acquaintances. The night was cut short as several temple guards came in looking for one of the young men that had been at the large table. After a short scuffle and flight through the town, Jasmine found herself alone again.

She started off through the Corone countryside a few days later. While she sat in a tavern, she over heard a young man talking about doing a particular job. Her funds were getting low so she offered to help. The next day, they were well on their way to put an end to a robber band. The fight was very short and not all rewarding to her mind. But the job was done. Once she received her pay and a small amulet to boot, she was on her way again.

Her travels took her on several more adventures. Once she managed to recruit three people to come with her back to Moriah. She had planned it all out. With these three people to help her, she would destroy Montego and put someone on the throne that would not wind up destroying the tiny nation. She made two good friends in the inn before that trip, Logan McCloud and Rainee Miyami. There was third man with them, Seth Dahlios, but she did not befriend him. In fact, for the entire length of their journey, she was rather afraid of him and did her best to stay out of his way. Logan, however, missed the ship and was unable to join them.
Two days from their destination, the crew revealed their true identity as pirates. With the help of Seth, they captured Jasmine. From the ship, she was taken directly to Lord Montego. Lord Montego put up a good fight, but he was unable to defeat them. Jasmine discovered on this trip that her brother, Eric, was still alive. She set him and his wife on the throne and returned to the mainland. She felt that because if her cowardice when Montego first took over, that she was unfit to rule Moriah.

As with most journey’s the ride back to the mainland seemed to take no time at all. On arriving back at the port from which they had left, everyone went their separate ways. For Jasmine though, she could not stop thinking about Logan. Whenever she was not busy with something else, an image of his face or the memory of his voice crept into her thoughts. Without her realizing it, the young man had somehow stolen her heart with a simple dance and now she longed to see him again.

Then one day, the Braves received an ultimatum from an entity calling itself Malice. They had two days to leave the tower, or be forced out. The Braves of course would not willingly give up their home and war broke out in the tower. In the midst of the battle, the Great Crystal that protected the Tower from the harsh climate of Salvar was broken. Over the course of the next hour, the once great Magi Tower crumpled. Neither Malice, nor the Grey Braves could use it.

At one point in the battle, Jasmine faced three men from The Gideon Order. At the time, all she could tell was that they were enemies. As one attacked her, another Braves person came into where she was at and distracted the one attacking her. Taking their opportunity, the remaining enemies, ganged up on her and were successful in knocking her out. When one of them left the tower, he took her unconscious body with him. She is currently residing wherever it is that the man of the Gideon Order took her. (Due to her unconscious state when being taken there, she has no idea where that is.

Sometime later, Jasmine escaped the Gideon Order and struck out on her own again. She did not return to any of those of the Grey Braves, having decided that the group had not done her any good. Instead, she wandered wherever the fancy took her. She encountered many new people on her new travels. Once she even helped a few in searching for fragments of a certain jewel. She was sorely disappointed when the reward she’d been expecting did not come to fruitition.

Nevertheless, she pressed on. She came across a vampire one night, but was able to escape nearly unharmed. She had not realized when talking with the man earlier in the evening exactly what he was. She still doesn’t know exactly what she’d done to make him so angry with her, but was thankful that he was very flammable as she shoved a fireball in his face. She hasn’t seen him since then, but she doesn’t exactly look forward to seeing him ever again.

Several days later, while she slept, a woman’s voice came to her, bidding that she come to wherever the voice was. At first she did not wish to humor the voice, but eventually she gave in and followed the voice. On the journey to find the owner of the voice, she went through the land of the dead. Or at least some part of a world where the dead and living could meet. While there, she met, at last, her mother and father. She also again met Lord Montego. He of course, tried to kill her, but the spirits of her father, mother, and Abram (a boy she had known previously and been close to) protected her. Her father in that he strengthened her sword. And her mother in that when her sword failed Jasmine, her mother wrapped her in a protective bubble. In the spirits’ world that bubble was very strong. Unfortunately, it will not be as strong in the world of the living.

Further on in her journey, Jasmine found herself flying and linked by a silver cord to another person. This person turned out to be a young man named Zerith whom she had met at Scara Brae some time ago. As it turned out, they were linked for a reason. Jasmine was one of many mages that were Chosen. Zerith was to be her protector (which was called a Warder.) At long last, Jasmine met the Goddess of Magic and found the source of the voice that had drawn her out of her comfortable bed. She had a new purpose in life now and was determined to fulfil it.

The following winter, Jasmine returned to her now free homeland to attend the ball her brother was holding to celebrate midwinter. While there she met a young man named Prince Raelyse. As the night progressed she found she liked him more and more and eventually they kissed. That kiss developed into more serious kissing until Jasmine suggested that they go to her room and continue there. Things progressed right along as one might expect, however things did not go entirely as the prince would’ve liked.

The following morning, Jasmine awoke in her bed, alone. Prince Raelyse had been gone for quite some time. The side of the bed where she’d seen him last wasn’t even warm anymore. Disappointed and angry, Jasmine arose and started about her day. She went to her countryside estate where she stayed for a day or two to relax after the torment of waking alone.

Meanwhile, her warder, Zerith, had gone on to Hamasha. The second day after the ball, Jasmine rose early, saddled her horse, and rode off to meet him there. When she was a scarce mile from the port city, she could hear explosions. Puzzled and worried, she hurried on to find Hamasha was under attack. She did not know who the attackers were at first, but over the course of the next week or so, Moriah’s defenders were able to force the mysterious attackers away.

It was after this that Jasmine made her way back to the jungle tribe that had taken her in so many years ago. She had promised that she would return one day, but had yet to fulfil that promise. She spent a few days there then returned to Hamasha. From there she went on to the mainland to continue her adventures.

A mere two months after that Midwinter Ball, Jasmine was quite broke. She had traveled to Alerar and now was dancing for a few gold a night to try to make ends meet. She didn’t particularly like dancing for money, but there were none of her usual jobs to be had. Unknown to her a slaver was watching her every move and had a particular order to fill. Jasmine fit the bill perfectly and in short order, she had been forced to join 30 other girls who had also been either outright kidnapped or wooed with promises of better pay.

They were taken to a camp to hold until the buyer came to pick them up. Once they had been loaded into a carriage, they were taken to Erebus where the Grander, Raelyse, made arrangements for the sudden deaths of the slaver and his men. The girls were taken to a dungeon, but after Raelyse came down to see his new harem, Jasmine was sent up to his room. Seeing him again had re-kindled the flames of anger at his sudden disappearance so long ago, but as he had that night, he was able to tame the young girls anger with a few kisses and soft caresses. Before she fully realized what was happening, she was in his arms and being carried off to a world of bliss such as can only be found in the arms of a lover and his bed.

Jasmine is currently still residing at Erebus, unsure as to whether she should join her paramour’s group or just remain there until she can’t stand being in the same place anymore.
