Name: Zhang Konji

Age: 38

Race: Human

Hair Color: Dark Brown

Eye Color: Hazel

Height: 6'6"

Weight: 230 lbs

Occupation: Chakuro (Translates roughly to 'wanderer', see History)

Personality: Zhang is an old soul- even-tempered, contemplative, content and determined. Touched with uncompromising wanderlust, he rarely remains in one place for very long, constantly seeking the next venture into realms unknown. He views potentially dangerous situations as mirrors into the soul, revealing what lies underneath the conditioning and manipulation of any society.

To friends, he is a defender and a source of earthly wisdom. To strangers, he is a kind but withdrawn vagabond. To enemies, he is an untiring force of nature.

Appearance: Zhang is tall, straight-backed and solidly built. His hair tends to be a wild mess, his eyes are narrow and the expression on his angular face is often serious. Those that are familiar with him come to understand that this doesn't mean he's always upset, merely in deep thought.

For those that appreciate a more visual approach, I will provide a link to a drawing (© the awesome Sidney Poole) hosted on Deviant Art:

Weapons: The first of three prized possessions. A yew quarterstaff, 6'2" in length. Decorated with a simple but elegant pattern of white vines all along its length, partially wrapped in a white fabric that's soft to the touch and highly durable. This quarterstaff has proven to be tremendously difficult to damage, mostly because Zhang refuses to allow it to be damaged.

Armor: The second of three prized possessions. Zhang's armor consists largely of tanned leather with underlying chainmail, as well as more flexible hide joints. His pauldrons, greaves and lower-leg armors are all steel (spikes included), an added weight that nearly two decades of travel have accustomed him to.

Other Equipment: The third of three prized possessions. A small wooden pipe capable of producing one soaring, peaceful note. Lovely to passers-by, but serves no immediately discernible purpose.

Skills: Zhang is a master of the quarterstaff. In Oromonai Tel, children of both sexes are taught to use the quarterstaff as a multitool before anything else. Their proficiencies in and predilections toward certain modes of usage enlightened parents and instructors to different facets of their personalities.

Zhang is a highly adept hand-to-hand combatant. He is prone to staying on the defensive and analyzing his opponent's technique via feints and parries, then engaging on the offensive when he is confident and armed with knowledge.

Abilities: Allepti Achuro (Center of the World): A title Zhang shares with only 104 other people from his homeland of Oromonai Tel, this is the highest order of martial, diplomatic and self-preservatory skill one can achieve before turning 59 (whereupon you are considered a Makoro [Grandfather], a highly respected elder). It is the mark of having lived your instruction, devoted your life so far to understanding the ways of nature and living things, the school of Eromii (Strength of the Oaken Vale) martial arts and the teachings of the Grandfathers on diplomacy, peace and meditation.

Achieving this status begets a blessing from the spirits of nature that binds Oromonai Tel and defends it from the fouler elements of the Endless Wood. While Zhang and his folk are unable to weave threads of magicka, call upon divine favor or tap recessive psychic abilities, they are gifted with a stronger resistance than any other folk toward all three. Allepti Achuro have the most powerful endurance, the result of a boon whispered into the very essence of their beings by the elemental guardians of their home.

(This does not by any means imply invulnerability toward mystical/psychic/divine influence or 'attacks', merely an enhanced resistance toward them [3x the normal humanoid standard resisting prowess].)

History: Born to a respected envoy to the Outer Realms and one of the mysterious and revered Sylvan Priestesses, Zhang Konji enjoyed a childhood of unconditional love and rigorous discipline. Initially displeased with leaving his storybooks to learn how to wave a big stick around, he came around within a year and immersed himself completely in the teachings of the Grandfathers.

At the age of twenty, like all before him, he earned his quarterstaff after enduring a hellish gauntlet and set out on the Journeyman's Path to, as the Grandfathers put it, 'discover his name'. He hasn't quite yet found the meaning behind those words, but is enjoying his roaming life as only a young boy enchanted by fairy tales could.

[To summarize Allepti Achuro, Zhang's enhanced physical attributes are measured in multipliers, with an average humanoid being the reference: 2.5x Strength, 3.5x Speed, 2x Agility and Constitution.]

Hello Atle, and welcome to Althanas and the Tournament of Champions!

This is an incredibly interesting character you have here, and very sober to boot. Though, might I suggest stating somewhere that Zhang's strength, speed, agility and/or constitution are beyond that of an average human? You may use multipliers: for example, a character could naturally have perhaps 4x the strength of an average human and twice the speed, or vice versa (as opposed to skills that give momentary boosts that go beyond these limits).

However, if you wish to keep your profile as is, I will be glad to approve it!

Thank you for the welcome, miss Ataraxis. I've included the numbers you requested, and hope you don't find them too high.

Perhaps 2.5x for strength, 3.5x for speed, and 2x for agility and constitution would be better: I think that should be quite alright for a character dependent on his body for combat, especially since you have no magic or magical items. It should also give you a chance against other melee fighters with immense strength.

If you're okay with that, then edit those numbers in and you're approved!
