Height: 5'10"
Weight: 165 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: N/A

Personality

Silas is a quiet, monkish sort of man who prefers to be alone or with a single friend - and strongly dislikes any group setting. He is a man purely and devoutly dedicated to his craft, and as such has little time or want for social distractions. Reserved and introverted, Silas is more of a listener than a talker, although he has been known to open up a little to his few friends and to the students he takes on.

Appearance

Silas can best be described as a middle-aged, Caucasian male of average height with an athletic build. Aside from the bushy eyebrows and stylish goatee, the man's only other remarkable feature is his musculature. Silas is a man with quite literally no fat on him, leaving his skin with the appearance of thin, tanned leather stretched over tightly coiled steel springs. He has a slightly cartoonish look about him, in a way, with his bulging arms and legs attached to a less bulky torso.

Silas dresses simply, usually wearing traditional Wudang attire (such as the Liangongfu). He likes to roll his sleeves up to the elbows, and doesn't care for clothing made of any material other than natural, woven linens.

Weapons/Armor

NONE.

Skills: (Passive)

Fighting Style: Eight-Diagram Palms Shadow Boxing

"The power of the eight diagram palms knows no bounds -- the palms seem to strike even before the hands move. When the hand threads upward, it's like a hundred birds paying tribute to the phoenix; when it threads forward, it's like a tiger swooping downhill. Walking round and round, he is like a stray wild goose that has drifted from the flock; but when the palms are thrust forward, they can move a mountain. Now dodging, now ducking, his body slithers in and out; using the opponent's force he delivers a counter, blow, with as little effort as pushing a boat down the stream."

Silas is a master of his chosen style of martial art, an exceptionally beautiful art emphasizing the use of spiral movements, sophisticated footwork, and fighting angles. The style emphasizes extreme flexibility and the ability to move with tremendous grace, speed and power.

Pros:

Incredible Speed: Silas can move 4x faster than the average human. When utilizing his speed to its fullest, Silas has been known to strike down unprepared opponents before they even realize what's happening.

Precision Movement: No movement on Silas' part is wasted, each and every contraction of a muscle is perfectly timed and balanced. He's trained his body to react almost instinctively in ways that not only allow him to dodge or avoid danger, but at the same time set up or initiate a counter attack while dodging.

Uncanny Flexibility: Silas can move his body in ways that might seem impossible to others. His limbs can seemingly bend and move as if made of rubber at will, and Silas can quickly slither his body into normally uncomfortable or unsustainable positions with ease. This ability is particularly useful for dodging attacks.

Cons:

No Armor, No Weapons: Silas' level of dedication to his art is such that he refuses to wear any form of armor or wield any weapon. Armor would simply impede his ability to move with the speed and grace he is accustomed to. Weapons, in Silas' mind, are nothing but an impedance. Why limit yourself to using a sword when you can use your entire body as a weapon?

Monk Zen

Silas is a master of controlling his mind and the very spiritual energies that flow through him. As a result of this Zen like control over his body, the effectiveness of mind-clouding or mind-altering spells cast against Silas is reduced by 25%.

Techniques: (Active)

Exploding Palm:

If Silas strikes someone with an open palm, the normal force of the blow itself is automatically magnified by a concussive blast of Qi energy. Since this technique is the core staple of Silas' arsenal, it is kept purposefully weak so that he can perform it numerous times without tiring. There is no limit on the number of times this technique can be used.

Specifics: An open palm strike delivered by Silas is 2x as effective as a normal punch. Certainly not enough to kill, or even serious injure someone, but easily enough to knock the wind from their lungs or knock them unconscious if he scores a blow to the head.

Qi Shield:

While Silas doesn't wear any type of armor, that doesn't mean he is without the means to protect himself. By sacrificing a portion of his Qi energy, or "life force", Silas can shield himself with a shimmering, almost invisible barrier of energy. This shield appears directly in front of Silas and can deflect any one blow (even magic) before dissipating immediately.

Specifics: Can be cast immediately, and shields Silas from any one attack. Doesn't work if the opponent is directly next to Silas, as the shield appears in front of him, and doesn't protect against area of affect spells. Can be used 2 times per thread, with each use taking a considerable toll on his energy.

Spirit Leech:

One of the darker techniques at his disposal, the "Spirit Leech" ability allows Silas to drain a moderate portion of the spiritual "Qi" energy of anyone standing nearby. This drained energy then replenishes Silas' own energy, and even causes small wounds (cuts & bruises) to heal. Unfortunately the ability is indiscriminant in who it draws energy from, so both allies and enemies can be affected equally.

Specifics: Anyone standing within 15 meters of Silas will feel themselves weaken physically. They will feel tired, and normally find the effectiveness of their skills diminished by 10%. Conversely, Silas will become stronger by 10%, and any minor wounds he has will heal immediately. Can be used 1 time per thread.

Curse:

While a master of utilizing his internal Qi energy to aid his fighting, Silas can also use his opponent's energy to impede them. By striking in a particular manner in a particular part of the body, Silas can cripple the spirit energy of his opponents, weakening them drastically.

Specifics: Silas has to hit his opponent squarely in the forehead with two fingers. If he can manage to do so, then the struck opponent will be weakened by 50% for the duration of the next 2 posts. Can be used 2 times per thread.

Phoenix:

If Silas is ever killed, he has trained his body to purposefully and violently release the last of his Qi energy in an explosive area-of-effect effort to take his killer with him.

Specifics: When killed, Silas's body will explode in a ball of blue and white flame. Anyone standing to close will be either serious injured or consumed by the flames. Usable only 1 time.

History

Silas’ history is known only to himself, and the man seems to enjoy a shroud of mystery. Many suspect he spent a considerable amount of time in some remote temple training amongst monks long forgotten by the world, but others aren’t so sure.

Hey there Gesse, welcome to Althanas and the Tournament of Champions!

You have a great character here, and you even included drawbacks to pretty much all of his abilities. This is as balanced (and helpfully descriptive) as it can get, so there is nothing for me to say other than...

You are hereby approved!
