Personally, I'm not very big on using AIM anymore. It tends to be murder on the computer I'm currently forced to use; the only reason I've been on lately is to catch up with old friends and discuss ToC stuff with my partner.

As a contrast though, I am on mIRC all day. I constantly have the thing running, and I love using it. It doesn't seem to have any sort of effect on how retarded this thing runs.

At any rate, I was thinking just yesterday about the old AIM chats that we'd all have, and how much fun they'd be. The only problem with them, was that no one would know that there was one going until you got the invite.

What I'd like to know, is how many of you are familiar with or use mIRC? I'd like to start up a channel for the ToC, but I don't want to waste my time if no one'll use it. I figured that it would be a good way of getting familiar with each other before the whole thing starts, and it would be much easier than setting up a chat function like we had here before.

If enough people will come, I'll set up the channel ASAP.

Never heard of it, unfortunately. On the topic of AIM effing up your computer, though, you could just use Meebo (Meebo.com). It doesn't need to have any software running and doesn't lag computers up at all.

Is that my Internet Real Chat?
I'm up for it.

Internet Relay Chat :D

It's awesome, if not a bit difficult to use. Once you figure out how to connect to various servers, it's a cake walk, but at first it can seem a bit confusing.

After which, you can leave it running all day and the chatroom is a dedicated one, so it's always open. No one has to be in it for it to exist, and there's some awesome options you'll just have to look at for yourself because I don't feel like covering all of them.

An Althanas IRC web of channels would be perfect for this place :D

Yeah, my thoughts exactly when I returned and started noticing the trafic and new members coming in for the ToC.

This is mIRC (http://www.mirc.com/). As Typheus said, it can be a little troubling at first, but as soon as you got the hang of it, it's SO easy to use - I'm borderline retarded and I skim through the use of it everyday.

If you don't want to, or cannot download mIRC, ircatschool.com (http://ircatschool.com/) is an absolute breeze to use, and a good alternative.

Nice idea, Slayer. I'd be up for it. Just give us the channel and the time to meet on and I'll be there.

Perhaps even a daily thing? Like set up a time at night for us all to get together and all that. I remember once before we tried to use an mIRC channel with Althanas and maybe like 8 people used it, 4 at any one time.

Currently, I've set it up on the DarkMyst server, with the channel name of #AlthyToC.

As far as I'm concerned, I'd be more than happy to have it a daily thing. I'll be in the channel all day, so there will always be at least one person in it.

Now, I'm still working on it, but yeah, feel free to come, people.

I'll be there when I figure this stff out. Ecks Dee. Good job, Slayer. Kudos to you.

Indeed, good idea, Slayer of the Rot.

Yet ANOTHER server for me to connect to when I start up the computer. Lol.

For anyone who is unsure of how to connect on mIRC, here is what you need to do, though you can set things up in the options and what not:

/server irc.darkmyst.org

Then, type in:

/join #AlthyToC

And then you will be in the channel, ready to go talk to people.

Also, you can check out X-Chat (http://www.silverex.org) as an IRC client. The link is for the completely freeware Windows version. I use X-Chat and actually prefer it to mIRC.

I do believe Tainted Bushido mentioned Mibbit, or something like that as a chat server, too, so there's that option.

We had a decent turn out for the room's first day, and I'd love to see more people drift in tomorrow.

I'll be up around four in the afternoon, pacific time, because I'm fucking lazy, so after that point, there'll be someone, probably in chat, until four or so in the morning.

Remember everyone; server = DarkMyst, channel = #AlthyToC.

Mibbit is a HTMl, web based IRC client. And though it does have its own network, you can access any IRC network through it.

Though, one thing to remember is the FULL address of the server, which again is irc.darkmyst.org. ^_^

You need that full address for which ever client you wanna use, I believe.

You COULD type in /server Darkmyst

Then type /join #AlthyToC

This will first join you to the server, DarkMyst, then will join you to the channel which is #AlthyToC

Easier if you're a person who likes to manually type that stuff in :/

I tried going to the Mibbit chat (DarkMyst server, #AlthyToC channel) at 3:51AM Eastern/Atlantic time, but nobody was there except for a ChanServ bot. Is there a preferrable time I should try again?

I use mIRC frequently. Thanks for the help on the server switch, though, I usually reside on the Rizon server.

Name will probably be Nieve.Roja, not sure yet.
