History: As a baby Rain was abandoned in a small clearing in the center of a dense forest. Her mother had been a young, unwed maiden. The woman had fled her town in shame. She knew that a child born out of wedlock and its young mother would not be welcomed or accepted by the citizens from any of the nearby towns so she did the only thing she believed she could; she left her daughter to the forest, praying that the forest elves or gods would have mercy on the little being or that it would receive a swift and painless merciful death.
The Mother Goddess looked down in favor on the defenseless babe and a wandering Elf happened upon her. This Elf was an aged female who had recently lost her only son. The Elf’s motherly instincts immediately trumped the race barrier and the Elvin woman took the baby back to her home village. It did not take long for the other Elves to learn of the human baby’s existence for word travels fast. The other Elves would not accept a human among their midst not even a baby, they gave Medina (the Elvin woman who had found the babe) two options: return the child to the forest and leave it to the mercy of the beasts or face exile. Medina chose exile and with a backpack filled with blankets and clothes armed only with a bow, some arrows, and a small hunting knife she left her home with young Rain sleeping peacefully in her arms.
Medina was a wise and resourceful Elf and she immediately found a cave uninhabited by any of the forest creatures. Medina molded the cave into the home in which Rain grew and loved. Rain spent the majority of her days playing in the forest and learning survival skills from Medina. By her 8th birthday Rain could move with as much stealth through the forest as a grown elf. Her archery skills surpassed Medina’s and she eagerly absorbed everything Medina had to teach her. Unfortunately after Rain’s fifteenth birthday tragedy struck her innocent life. A small band of criminals happened upon the cave while Rain was out practicing with her bow and arrow in the thickest part of the woods. The bandits were ruthless and Medina had seen too many years to defend herself against them. Rain returned to find the cave ransacked and Medina’s lifeless body. The closest thing to a family Rain had had been slaughtered for a few pounds of food. The mark of a black panther was left on the cave wall, the only clue Rain had about Medina’s murderers. Medina had always been honest with Rain about her race and how the two came to be so Rain knew Medina was not her biological mother but Medina was the closest thing to a mother Rain knew so she without hesitation swore to avenge Medina’s death.
Other: Rain is armed with a bow and a quiver of arrows made for her by Medina. Just recently she secured a sword which she plans to train with in case she ever finds herself in close combat. She also still has the hunting knife that had once belonged to Medina with her.
