Name: Marduk the Black
Race: Human of Draconic Decent
Age: 27
Sex: Male
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 175
Eye: Color: Gold
Skin: Deep Tan
Hair: Black
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Occupation: Dragon Shaman of Thek’og’mak, Black Dragon
Appearance: This dirty warrior stands five and a half feet tall. His hair is woven into dreadlocks each ending in a minor trinket or fetish that marked his ascension as the head Dragon Shaman of Thek’og’mak. His hands wear clawed gauntlets that end in wicked barbs, dried blood flaking and chipping off them as he idly flexes and unclenches his hands into fists. A chain shirt of steel hangs across his torso as his leather pants reach into muddy and caked boots. A feral look highlights his golden eyes as he gazes out a constant frown marking his fearsome and scarred face. A beard hangs off his cheeks, of which the lower portions too have been braided with trinkets and minor fetishes have been imbued.
History: The peasant that had become Marduk would forever remember the day he learned the true might of a dragon. A knight seeking to slay one such beast tread into the village of which the peasant, whose name was forgotten in the annals of history, and recruited every able bodied man. Arming them with swords and shields, these people were lead into the lair of the great beast, and it was here that Marduk was changed. Witnessing a single breath of flame ignite the knight that had lead them on this foolish errand Marduk fled with his fellow men, only to find that slowly the dragon picked them off one by one.
It would have been impossible to witness such a fearsome sight and not be changed by it.
It was in this cave that Marduk committed his first murders, slowly feeding his fellow villagers to the dragon in the hopes of surviving the horrific experience. He would push off the weak and in doing so buy himself time as they fled in abject terror. Marduk was slowly turned from a normal man into a feral beast doing whatever it took to survive and the peasant that was Marduk was completely suppressed in favor of this beast, which seemed to take a twisted pleasure in pushing these people to their doom.
He emerged alive and unharmed from the cave, and upon looking at the Hamlet, he sneered. These simpletons had blindly followed someone who was weak, taking the armor and the weaponry at face value, and in doing so, perished as they were weak in themselves for relying on others. As he snorted in derision he left the mountain that contained the dragon’s lair, and moved off into the world, turning his back on the village, and became something else entirely.
This was over two millennia ago.
Marduk quickly was inducted by a black Dragon into the shamanism that would embody his entire life. Black dragons are world renown for their cunning and appetite for destruction. The most bloodthirsty aspect of Tiamat, their consummate mother, the instilled a further callousness that would forever follow Marduk in his choices and decisions, even as he worked to free Tiamat from her hell. He quickly rose through the ranks, even slaughtering his monitor in a final showing that only the strong were truly of worth to follow a vassal of Tiamat.
Marduk was blessed and became a shaman that year, only to be captured by a group and held against his whims to the virtues they instilled. It was here that he learned how to fight, how to track and how to sneak. It was here that he developed his skills, even as he waited, watching and waiting for his time to come.
Years later he found himself upon the shores of a new continent, it housed the portals to many realms, and it was here that Marduk finally was freed of his bonds. In an unlikely assault upon the stronghold of the group that forced his loyalty, he witnessed the weak once again uprooted by the strong as he lead a small group of these members to safety. This group was now the beginnings of his cell, and he would begin anew to indulge in his teachings.
This group wandered the continent doing some good, but mostly only if it benefited Marduk. He would ensure the group would be helping him accomplish his goals, and lead them into battle in order to push and test them, to weed out the weak. In the end he was left with a core group, Kyr Kaital, the Wizard with a propensity for destruction, Ben a cleric of a destructive god, Sasha, the leader of a local thieves guild, Seliana, her apprentice sorcerer, and Abraxis a war golem that had been reactivated after centuries of sleep.
On the cusp of achieving his goals and unleashing Tiamat upon the world, the mother of the chromatic dragons, Marduk made one vital mistake, he trusted his allies and fell victim to that which the peasants had so long ago. They turned against him, and even though he fought tooth and nail, they sought to destroy him. While they could not truly stop him, they did something far worse.
They sealed him in a dimension, and left him there to rot.
The only way back would have been to slowly concede his path was wrong, and that he should turn a new leaf. The realm would know when he had whole heartedly agreed with the change and only expel him from the realm at that time. However, Marduk was not to change his heart so easily and ranted, he railed against the gods and their so called authority. He raged and railed, till finally he passed out, and when he awoke, the process began again.
This process continued for two millennia.
Now, a tournament has opened the portals on the material plane once more. Althanas had long since forgotten Marduk the Black, and yet he had not forgotten it. So full of hate and rage, when the portals opened, they detected a powerful warrior, and inadvertently released this unpunished evil into the world. Marduk had emerged, and now he wanted vengeance. At the height of his power, he had been able to draw upon his draconic lineage. He had also worn a series of artifacts that keyed into his powers as a Dragon Shaman. The Grafts of Dragonhood had each been taken by a member of his former retinue, and hidden, hoping against hope that if Marduk ever returned, he would never find them again.
Marduk the Black remembers, he does not forget such slights easily.
Born again into the world that shunned him, he will carve a bloody path to the very decedents of those who betrayed them. He will wash in their blood as he takes back the Grafts of Dragonhood. He will find his patron dragon, and reestablish the old connection. He will do all this, and then he will continue his dark works, unleashing the five headed dragon once more into the world, as is her birthright.
Abilities
Unarmed fighting – Average – Inherant - Marduk the black has long since given up using any form of weaponry, only a fool trusts his life to a weapon. Hand to Hand is the basis of all combat, and he makes extensive use of it. Unfortunately, his time in the realm of penance has diminished his strength and reflexes, making his timing off. Those who study him see he has the basics of a very brutal and feral fighting style; he only needs time to refine the patterns he memorized so long ago.
Sneak – Below Average – Inherant - Marduk once was amongst the more stealthy members of the long forgotten Order. However, towards the end of his career he had less use of subtlety and a full appreciation of Brutality. Because of this, Marduk has let this skill degrade, though now he has discovered he shall most likely have need of it, and has begun once again to practice.
Breath Underwater – Shaman - Upon reconnecting with his Patron Dragon, immediately Marduk was given the ability to breath underwater like his patron. When immersed in water he is not hindered in the slightest, swimming as freely under the waves as quickly as he would run across the lands.
Commune – Shaman – Marduk has the ability, when completely immersed in water to begin a connection with his patron dragon. However, at this moment, he can only receive general emotions from his patron, and perhaps one word or two if the connection is especially strong. He does however know, the dragon gets every word he sends, and often uses this as a means of reporting his whereabouts, so his patron can move to support or perhaps punish the Shaman.
Equipment
Steel Chain Shirt – Self explanatory his armor waiting to be replaced as soon as he finds his old armor.
Steel clawed gauntlets – his main method of attack, these claws end in vicious sharpened spikes that he rakes across flesh or uses to get a grip on someone before tearing a chunk out of them.
Travel pack – Filled with basic food rations a waterskin and a few fetishes that he uses to keep in contact with his patron dragon.
