View Full Version : Andhaka; Wind Elemental

Andhaka Adiir
01-25-09, 05:34 AM
Full Name: Andhaka Oleander Adiir

Race: Human/Wind Elemental

Age: 49

Gender: Female

Description: When in the form of gas she has a slight blue tint to her and glitters when she comes in front of the sun. Being more of a consciousness in that state, her body is whatever gaseous materials happen to be present in the area, and based on her will power (which is quite small at her age) she can take on more material, or be selective on what kind of gas she is made up of. At her age, she generally fills up eight square feet of space, and can only stretch herself up to twenty feet from her central consciousness (Ten feet in any direction). She can not get rid of her glitter at this point and can be noticed by the trained eye. When she is near, it is obvious to most magic users that there is a magical force present.

In human form, she has light dusty brown hair that is long and wavy, falling in thin wisps around her face and shoulders. Wide light blue eyes are framed by long but pale colored lashes and set in a heart shaped, somewhat pointed face that has transparently pale skin. She is thin and lithe and with long limbs, proportionately, and without womanly curves. Her height changes each time she comes into human form, and depends on how much solid matter could be persuaded to join into her form, and the size can give her the look of a child or teenager, or sometimes young adult, all depending. In places where people are using a lot of magic, or there are simply a lot of people around, if she changes in these places, she ends up tiny, whereas if she changes where energy is abundant, or where not many people are, she ends up larger. Her changes are largely random and very hard for her to control. She turns into a human every time it rains. When it is too hot her human form tends to evaporate. Her moods can also affect these changes.

Her looks are a female reflection of her fathers, only pale and stretched due to her mother's contribution. When in human form, a thin ethereal layer of clothing covers her, just thick enough to obscure her private areas and just enough fabric. It is generally a color between whit and blue and is something akin to a bathing suit for her top and a scrap of fabric for a skirt that is held together on one side. If she does not have enough matter to form these barriers of clothing, she avoids the change to human at all costs, being a very shy prudent girl.

Personality: Very serious, which is at odds with her nature as an air elemental. Is constantly trying to study the world around her, but finds herself distracted by her uncontrollably short attention span and odd impulses. She almost cannot hear music without dancing, and gets caught up in other's emotions. She wishes to spend her life in study, like her father, but finds this very difficult.

History: She is the daughter of an elder wind elemental, Saavhi, and a human mage, Oleander Adiir, who specialized in shape shifting. He changed to many forms in his experimentations, ever the scientist, trying each one and recording the various principals of it's difficulty and how it affected the world around him. At one point he changed into a Wind Elemental and was overcome with his repressed longings of freedom and shot out of his home, abandoning all to the feeling of jubilation and music. Flowing onward, with his strong will and ingenuity, he was able to amass himself over his year as an Elemental and win the affection of an ancient spirit, Saavhi. They blew together across the lands, experiencing things in tough and go, as wind spirits do, until one day Oleander blew past a dead man who he recognized as his brother, and realized that he had come home. Memories assaulted him then, and he recognized the sight in his mind of many atrocities he had blown past without a thought. Horrified, he changed himself back, and in one last act of impulse and selfishness, his companion too. Saavhi was enamored with the physical world at first, but after a short and passionate love affair, longed to be free. She was with child and waited long enough to let the thing out of her, then she evaporated in a puff and took off, now associating her lover with constriction and monotony. Oleander was heartbroken as he watched her fly away, knowing that if she ever came back, she would breeze past without a thought.

Andhaka, for her part, stayed, half solid and half gaseous, near her father. Her mother had been gone since her birth, and any needs she had were met by her father, surly and serious now more than ever. He was shaken by the tragedy in his small home that killed his brother, and Andhaka, feeling this, took it upon herself to be protector of their home. Eventually, Oleander grew old, while Andhaka stayed much the same, advancing her human form very slowly, when in fact she was in it at all. Eventually, he grew old and died, and Andhaka was left not knowing what to do. She had seen her mother several times, and the creature cared for her, but only wanted her if she wished to wheel aimlessly about the realm. Andhaka was well known, since her mother was well liked, among her spirit brethren, but largely avoided because of her unnatural view of things.

Language: Wind whispers, Tradespeak, snippets of others, mostly songs.

Occupation: Self Appointed Guardian

Weapon: None.

Armor: None

Skills:

Change Shape - From physical to gaseous. I'll repeat here: Her height changes each time she comes into human form, and depends on how much solid matter could be persuaded to join into her form; her density and weight also varies. When in wind form, her ability to manipulate objects is extremely limited.

Wind friends - She has acquaintances among the more powerful and older wind spirits. They will grant her small favors if it doesn't take too much time or is too boring. They are extremely fickle and how well she controls their actions depends on her will, of which she has very little at her age.

Magic - Her father was a powerful mage, the same blood that runs through her. He told her she would have control over some forms of magic, should she choose to develop the talents that come to bear. None has for her, yet, except for those things natural to her wind sisters.

Empathy - Being a creature of emotion and impulse, she can sense excitement and emotion and energy around her, more acutely in wind form than in solid form. It is a wind power and thus very hard to direct, she cannot amass specific details without extreme acts of will.

Items: She has a house full of magical items and tomes which she dares not carry with her for fear of going up in smoke (literally) and losing them. She knows very little about most of the items in her fathers, now her, house.

Welcome, just one thing before I approve this. The Wind Friend ability, what kind of favors, for example, can you call on?

I was planning that as the wind spirit (my character) grows in age/levels, she gains more control over her powers. Things like blowing gusts of wind, all the way up to twisters, or for those that can finely control, pulling the breath right out of someone's lungs.

For wind friends, it would depend on the age of the spirit around and their willingness to help. An aged wind spirit, should one be around, could blow wind with great force or finesse, but only for a few seconds as they have infinitely short attention spans, and she has not the will at this point to keep them there.

So, in game play, it would work something like this: Oh my gosh, we have to get through this wall otherwise we are in great peril. She would whisper to the winds and I would choose, sometimes yes, sometimes no, whether a wind spirit powerful enough was around, and they would blow down the wall. If there was resistance or it took too long, or there was any sort of complication whatsoever, she would lose her helper. The stronger the wall, the longer it would take, and the stronger she will have to be to coerce them to stay.

They could also act as extremely unreliable messengers. Most wind spirits know some Tradespeak, and snippits of others, though mostly what is found in songs.

The easiest thing to get them to come along for would be a party or dancing of any sort. They'd blow around a room like crazy for that.

I would also like to clarify that not all wind is a spirit, so they would not always be at hand. While they travel quickly. they are not light-speed fast. Their speed, again, depends on their age and power. A young wind could perhaps go ten or fifteen miles per hour, a mid aged twenty or twenty five, an older thirty or even forty. The most powerful travel at fifty or sixty miles per hour.

Have I answered your question?

I will always act for what (I feel) is best for the story line, or what is most interesting. I will not use these as a constant bail out, just an interesting part of her history that comes in handy every now and then. I assure you that if it is most interesting for a spirit to abandon her, fail her, or even on an impulse work to the contrary, I will do it.

yep yep, you answered that quite thoroughly as well, haha. Alright, just be careful about using it in the case where you might be fighting against another player and you should be just fine.

APPROVED!
