View Full Version : The Crow Flies Straight

T. Morgan
01-26-09, 07:22 PM
Name: Thomas Morgan
Age: 23
Race: Human
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Grey
Height: 6'2''
Weight: 205 lbs.
Occupation: Enforcer
Right-Handed

Personality: A man hardened by violence and scarred with tragedy, Morgan is somebody few will rarely ever meet. Though he has little self-value, the thug spends his entire life providing for those he loves in any way he possibly can and will sacrifice anything or anyone to achieve that end. He is rarely quick to anger and has a fair degree of patience after all he has had to endure in his life, and it is when Morgan gets very quiet that people who know him the best learned to stay away.

Morgan prefers to live life as hard and rough as possible. A raging alcoholic, a smoker, and unsatiable lover, Morgan only seems to be able to cut his teeth with violence and has been known to have a rather addictive personality. A man who smiles in the right light and speaks his mind even to those who consider themselves his superiors, Morgan is the type of guy that no other man wants to cross and every girl wants to be with.

Appearance: Scarred and bruised from his neverending brawl with life, Morgan has the look of somebody who has been to Hell and back. He has a scar above his right eye and wounds dotting his large, muscular frame. With bushy, black hair almost like a mane shaping his face, thick eyebrows, and a rough goatee, Morgan gives off a dashing appearance. He has three earings on his left ear and a tattoo of his sister's name, Kris, on his right shoulderblade. He is usually dressed in a black t-shirt with jeans and wears his leather coat and boots everywhere he goes. Any weapon the man has is skillfully concealed. With wolfish grey eyes, Morgan looks to be the type of guy that can take anybody in a fight, even by appearance alone.

Skills:

Scrapper: Having grown up in the slums of Radasanth most of his life, Morgan learned the hard way what it is to be a good fighter. Through scrapes and bruises, he has become tougher and more agile in a brawl. Because of this, he is 1.5x stronger and 1.0x faster than a normal man. Morgan can also manage to turn any ordinary object he can find into a decent
weapon. His skill with these impromptu weapons is average.

Heavy Handed: When Morgan goes to fight somebody hand-to-hand, he hits back. Hard. Though his punches are slower than any of his other weapons, when the thug manages to hit somebody he does 1.5x more damage than he would otherwise.

Around the Blade: Learning his way around a blade through years of trial and error of the most brutal kind, Morgan became rather good with knives. No matter the size, weight, or style of the knife, he feels more comfortable with a blade than he would with a gun. He can use knives with above average skill and can move 1.5x faster with a blade then with any other weapon.

Gunfighter: As a member of some of the more violent cabals of the criminal underworld, Morgan is no stranger to firearms. He is familiar with guns up to semi-automatic in technology and no further (About 1970s-ish). Though he can use them with average skill, he still prefers knives over the risk of wasting bullets.

Taking Lives: Morgan has killed before. Some were innocent, most were other criminals, but the gangster has become numb to the feeling of killing another human being and has grown confident in his ability of murdering other people. Though he takes no pride in his carnal craft, Morgan will not back down from a fight and can intimidate people with his stony gaze. People equal in level or below him are less inclined to take Morgan on in a fight than somebody who is higher than him.

Traits:

Note: Traits are things Morgan picks up along the way, from quest to quest. Most of them really don't do much, but they make impressions on him as a person. Purely for character building.

Born Under the Wrong Star: Bad luck follows Morgan like a plague. When things go wrong for him, they end horrifically. Almost if God himself is out to get him, few things ever seem to go right for Morgan. But, even at it's worst, he'll survive. Generally, it's everybody around him that tends to get the brunt of it.

Thug: Working for the D'Ciano Crime Family for the better part of eight years, Morgan has made a name for himself in the criminal underworld. Although this can often be a liability when dealing with law enforcement since they have dealt with him before, the young gangster is familiar with crime and has friends and connections that run deep into that dark, seedy life.

Black Sheep: With most of his blood relatives dead save for his sister, Kris, Morgan is completely alone in the world. Since he has taken up crime in order to support his sister and her stay in the Lu'Aville Sanitarium, the gangster has known for a very long time that his late father and his brothers were better men with professions that have never asked them to shed the blood of the innocent. This recognition of guilt will always seperate Morgan from the rest of the criminals he seems to find himself employed with.

Insured: Around the age of 17 when his sister was first diagnosed with consumption of the brain, Morgan went to one of the most powerful creditors in Radasanth and opened a life insurance policy for himself for over 15,000 Gold. Should Morgan die in any way, these funds will automatically be transferred to a lawyer that has served the Morgan family for generations. This gold will be distributed to all of Kris's medical bills and pay for her permanent stay in the Lu'Aville Sanitarium with a personal physician. This policy will remain effective until it expires on Morgan's 30th birthday. Luckily, Morgan doesn't plan to live that long.

Equipment:

-Armor-

Leather Jacket: (Picture Here (http://www.motorcycleparts-accessories-andmore.com/image-files/teknic_rebel_leather_jacket_black.jpg)) -Made of authentic tanned leather, this jacket was a gift given to Morgan by one of his many ex-girlfriends whose name he probably can't remember. It fits perfectly. An unusually thicker coat and darker than most, this has the equivilant of leather armor in protection and is very durable to the harshest of weather.

Biker Boots: (Picture here (http://www.acquiremag.com/2007/08/22/dsquaredbiker.jpg)) - Made of the same authentic leather as his coat and steel plated, these boots were an heirloom from Morgan's mentor before he was shot in the back outside of Radasanth's bazaar. These boots are both comfortable and durable, but can also serve as a savage weapon.

-Weapons-

Louisville Slugger: Finding it in the slums one fateful day, Morgan has made use of it ever since. Although not for it's intended purpose, the baseball bat makes an even better weapon. Made of solid, varnished oak and about the length of Morgan's arm, the bat has the elaborate signature of Hank Aaron on it's side. With some force put behind it, this bat can do some serious damage.

"July": (Picture here (http://www.direct-knives.com/prodimages/tanto.jpg)) - About six inches in length and made of tempered steel, this butterfly knife is perfect for stabbing. Given the opportunity, Morgan makes liberal use of the weapon and has become quite good at handling it. Polished oak hilt wrapped in leather.

Beretta M9 Semi-Automatic Pistol: Stainless steel with a black leather grip. Can hold up to 8 rounds, but now only holds 2 bullets. Morgan has used guns like these time and again in his career, but for some reason whenever he holds this weapon he gets an ominous feeling about it.

Note: One time quest only item. I cannot sell it and I'm to relinquish the weapon as soon as I'm finished with my first quest.

-Items-

Lighter: Passed down from him by his late father, this lighter is made of polished silver and has the his father's initials, "JM", engraved on the side. It is something Morgan cherishes dearly and keeps on his person always.

Pocket Watch: Made of brass and keeps perfect time. It was something Morgan bought at a pawn shop years ago to give to his sister as a birthday present, but Kris asked him to keep it for her. It contains the only picture of Morgan and Kris together at the ages of 17 and 13.

Pack of Romello Lights: Pack of cigerettes of minimal flavor. Morgan always seems to have a pack on him and uses them liberally, despite the warning from his sister's doctor that consumption seems to run deep in his family's history.

Bottle of Vodka: Kept at his flat, this is vintage stuff given to him by a dear friend before he died. Morgan has sworn only to drink it in the company of women in honor of his friend's memory. The bottle is two thirds empty.

History:

Born On a Monday
He likes to be called Morgan. Although Thomas is the name his father gave him, the young mobster prefers to use the name that has already been sullied with blood and only allows his sister and lovers to know his true name. This speaks a lot about the young man's character, who has spent the majority of his life in violence and despair, but has done it all to support his sister and her debilitating disease. With his sister, Kris, and his own life played out much like a greek tragedy, Morgan tends to keep a tight lip on the details. But, eventually, with enough booze in him, he'll find the courage to tell the tale.

At an early age, Morgan and his sister were raised by his father, a wealthy merchant, and his mother until he was around nine. On a cold October evening, Morgan's father and mother left the two in the hands of their uncle for a night on the town. They didn't come back. It wasn't until a day later that Morgan was told by his sobbing aunt that his parents were brutally murdered outside of one of Radasanth's most prestigous theatres.

Though they were later adopted by their uncle and aunt, they stayed with them for about a year and a half when the house burnt down with their aunt inside of it. Distraught and unable to live with himself, the uncle committed suicide, but not before leaving them in the care of their only other living relative, their stoggy grandfather revealed by Morgan only as "Gramps" who lived alone up on Edgar Hill. For three long, painful years the two stayed in the estate of their grandfather who was secretly a pedophile.

He made an attempt on Kris twice.

The first time, Morgan caught them and broke the old man's leg with a fireplace iron and swore to him the next time he touched his sister he'd kill him. Six months passed, and thankfully, Kris was too young to remember what had happened. Never straying far from his sister, Morgan kept close watch on her as he waited the years before he was legally old enough to be given custody of her.

It wasn't until one fateful day that Morgan slipped out to the market to buy food for himself and his sister that his grandfather struck again. This time, he was successful and violently raped her by the time Morgan managed to get back. Now a teenager and strong from work tending the fields on their neighbor's estate, Morgan was enraged when his sister finally told him what had happened in midst of tears and complete terror. Stealing his grandfather's revolver from his den later that night, Morgan waited until the old man was asleep and went into his room.

He beat his sick grandfather brutally and emptied the entire chamber of his relic of a revolver into him before he took his sister and ran next door.

Though they became wards of the state after it was declared their grandfather was murdered, Morgan never implicated in the crime, they both inherited the entire estate and all of their grandfather's wealth (Equivilant to about 12,000 gold in present day). They were bumped around foster care and into the seediest, most brutal urban homes that Morgan ever laid eyes on until his eighteenth birthday.

Thankfully, neither of them were ever seperated.

At the age of fifteen, Morgan joined a branch of the D'Ciano crime family, a violent arms trading gang, as a lookout. The lucrative pay, respect, and brotherhood he felt when he joined kept the teenager hooked for years. Until the age of seventeen, Morgan managed to carve out a living for himself and his sister and got them moved into a nicer orphanage for their remaining years by the word of his mentor, David Torig. That was the year that Kris began to fall into fits of despotic, uncontrollable rage.

Her temper didn't take long for the orphanage's handlers to notice and she was promptly sent to a physician to be treated. She was misdiagnosed twice, first with schizophrenia (the treatment at that time was a lobotomy. Morgan promptly asked for a second opinion) and then psychosis which would have confined her to an asylum for the rest of her life. It wasn't until a personal doctor of Torig himself looked over the girl that she was finally diagnosed with consumption of the brain.

It was terminal.

Though their inheritance from their grandfather and parents were kept under the watchful eye of the family attorney, Mr. Knox, he released all of it to put Kris in the best care possible, which at the time for something like consumption which was considered a mental disorder, into the Lu'Aville Sanitarium. Burning through treatments and snake oil cures that were supposed to buy Kris more years to live, the money lasted until about her sixteenth birthday. Then, she became fully dependent on Morgan.

While all this was going on, Morgan steeped deeper and deeper into a bitter, violent existence as a hardened criminal. With only his sister as his family, he kept a careful eye on her and put most of his money towards her stay at the sanitarium. The rest he spent on booze, his lust for women, and gambling for a better future. None of them seemed to sate the growing hunger inside the young thug's body that seemed to be consuming him with black, merciless rage. It still lies, locked away in a part of his mind waiting to boil over into a period of absolute destruction.

Alcohol helped him forget and he went through women like clothes in an attempt to keep himself busy. Eventually, by the time he was twenty, Morgan was living in the slums of Radasanth, the lowest of the low and worked as an enforcer for the D'Cianos. He eventually bought himself an apartment, visited his sister often and paid what he could, but Morgan began to fall apart.

In less than two years, the strapping young man had reduced himself as a hungry addict and an alcholic. He eventually met a woman, Vanessa, much like himself in the way of living life hard and fast. She worked as both a prostitute and a part-time musician for a cafe further down town. Vanessa seemed to become the love of his life over night and stayed with him for three months before she disappeared with all of his money and most of his belongings. Morgan never found her.

It is about present day now, and Morgan eventually recovered as he always has and settled himself into a life of crime and perpetual violence. He has begun to visit his sister less and less and seems to grow more and more hungry for the bottle and women. Eventually, a day will come along where Morgan's self value will be tested and his way of life will change forever.

After talking to you via AIM for the reason of the gun, as well as it's promise to be used only in the first post and then disposed of, I will tentatively be approving it. However, I will, as a judge second to my Head of RoG position, be most likely reviewing the thread in question. If you use it, at all and in any way outside of that first thread I will remove it myself, give you a 0 on the quest, and probably never allow you to talk to me about rp related issues again. 0_0

No joke.

For that reason alone I am approving this profile, however will NOT be met with numerous persons in the future regarding the tentative approval of a firearm under any circumstances for a level 0 profile. If you want to talk to me about the reason behind this I am, of course, open to discussion, but the idea has been mulled over already for quite some time and has been approved. I will gladly state my case, and will not tolerate people making threads about the approval and questioning it, nor will I accept others coming to me (as I said above).

I am not trying to be a dick and stunt creativity, but just don't want to have to have a dozen people ask why they too couldn't have a gun. The reasons have been stated and are possible for elaboration upon request via PM ONLY. Thanks.

Approved.
