Name: Sarlye Myhos
Age: appears to be in her mid-twenties, young, real age unknown
Gender: Appears female, is actually genderless
Race: vampire/terreintic- nature-beings
Hair Color: red to black to deep navy or green
Eye Color: light grey
Height: 5'4
Weight: 100lbs
Personality: Sarlye is usually calm, though known to give into her hungers. She's hesitant to go near new people, but once she makes alliances, she warms up instantly. She's very determined, even to the brink of death. If one of her cohorts, for example, was killed, Sarlye would go into a rage, unable to stop herself until she either is knocked unconscious, or restrained. She's very down on herself, always blaming herself for anything bad that happens.
Appearance: Until she becomes comfortable within the area, she hides her true appearance. She's rather thin and nimble, with thin, delicate features; human in appearance.
When she shows her true form, like many of her species, she has two small ivory horns just within her hairline, thin, long pointed ears, two small antennae just behind her horns, and three flexible fake spikes from there to the back of her neck. From her neck down, she has small spikes lining her back and single bare, cat-like tail, much like a fish fin. Long, thin black claws come from her fingertips where her nails should be, and a mildly-deep ribcage. She also has a black pointed tongue and large canines, even when not elongated. Her grey eyes are usually humanoid, though when focusing or angered, the pupils may turn into narrow slits.
History: Sarlye doesn't remember much of her past. She knows she's lived for a very long time, though; since before many of todays creatures. She grew up in a large region surrounded with high walls of a crater surrounding, hiding it far away from the rest of the world.
The way this place worked -Huntersglen, as I think you would call it now- was much like a mixture between medieval and a hunter/gatherer community. They had a fixed location all year 'round, but this was no 'normal' place. This would be considered to be the land of fantasy. There were not just humanfolk and their prey. There were many worse, greater things there. Not even the humans were completely normal. The humans alone lived to a very old age, some reaching the age of eighty-five. They were a generally peaceful community.
Each kin had it's own area in this sacred piece of the world. They didn't keep to themselves, though. They bartered with each other, they even joined with one another in celebration of such things like the full moon, new moon and the eclipses. There was no real religion, they believed in the nine Elements -earth, water, fire, air, energy, darkness, light, neutrality, and chaos- and Magics of them, nothing more.
Now, Huntersglen had a form of government as well, but there were no jails. As Huntersglen was a large, sacred place, hidden from the rest of the world, there were rarely issues that were hard to resolve in a sensual matter. Deaths were payed for with blood, wakes were given, never funerals, and sacrifices were made when one of the Elders passed on. When children passed on, though...It was a great uproar. They did something much like an autopsy on them, to try and figure out what had caused the passing. If the death was ruled to be a murder, once the killer was found, they were burned alive in a sacrificial fire.
Contrary to today's ways, women had more power than men, though there was only a small difference. The five Elders were made up of three women, one man, and one genderless. The beings favoured for these positions were generally hybrids of different races. The more blurred their origin, the more respected they were. One woman and one man were in charge of the hunting and gathering, one woman and the genderless were in charge of keeping the peace among the races, and the last woman was the overseer of the whole community. She had many advisers, as well as the other Elders, to help her with her rule. Now, this Overseer was often the oldest and had strongest bloodline, which meant she was family to as many races as possible.
Now, Sarlye only remembers up to the point of the great war where people from outside the walls invaded. She and a few other young ones of the terreintic mixes were hidden from the battles. She was put deep underground to wait out the fight, as the people thought would die down fast enough. Instead of such a thing happening, the Huntersglen reign fell to the outsiders and no one came to wake the terreintic from their hibernation-like sleep.
Several hundred years later, Sarlye awoke in the night under a new moon, confused and alone. She was bare, her clothes having long ago decomposed, and hungry for anything she could get. Silently, she crept into a house and retrieved some clothing, and a meal out of the unsuspecting homeowners. She struggled to keep her 'differences' hidden from the public with her small amount of shape-shifting magic and strode into the local inn, claiming to be a foreign traveler, which stuck pretty good as no one could understand her language of clicks, purrs, hisses and other strange sounds. She picked up on the local language fairly quick and plans to take up a residence there. She wants to know more about this strange new world she awoke to.
Skills:
Nature-singing; She has minor control of the elements using her voice and magic, such as changing the weather and using the wind and earth as weapons. She can also channel water, air, and earth; moving some water from a lake to put out a small fire for example.
Shape-shifting; She can alter her form but only between her human and natural forms.
Natural-healing; She can heal herself using natural sources, as well as blood, and use her blood to heal others without side effects, but only small injuries such as cuts, bruises, and small fractures. It also takes a lot out of her so she can only do it once or twice a battle.
Keen sense of smell and hearing
Frenzy; She's never really known any way of fighting other than frenzied play, so even when she's just being childish, she tends to be violent.
Cannibalism; She can eat virtually anything, including some toxic herbs
Equipment:
Sarlye doesn't have much equipment other than the stuff she stole and found on her way to finding the inn. All she has is thick leather pants, metal armbands, and a tight leather corset. She also has a strange pendant around her neck made from an ancient tree that no longer stands that gives off a soft blue glow.
