Calamus
02-05-09, 07:54 PM
Name: Calder & Aiden
Age: 19
Race: Human
Hair Color: Blond & Brown
Eye Color: Blue & Amber
Height: 5'11 - 5'11
Weight: ~165

*Occupation: Scholars

*Personality: From the two Calder is the most ingenious and innovative, but also the most brass and bold. Unlike Aiden he is less reserved and more extroverted, though keen enough to easily hide his paranoiac skepticism of strangers. He cannot bring himself to be selfish to Aiden as they share an existence, but he normally puts their interests above anyone else's.

Aiden is much more calm, as one might call him an old soul. He usually meditates profusely before making a decision. Even though he does not dislike company people normally have a hard time adjusting to his withdrawn nature. he is not the type of person who normally dares to take risks, but he will rise like a lion when it comes to protecting people.

Appearance: Calder's build is athletic, resembling that of an endurance runner more than that of a body builder. He wears his hair as a mane gathered at the back in a slim, though long, tail. All of his facial factions are very sharp, from the corner of his eye to his lips. Calder and Aiden's body are almost identical. They are of the same height and relatively the same weight their facial structure is very similar but with a couple slight differences. Aiden is sleepy-eyed with narrower eyes and slightly fuller lips. Also, his skin tone is of a dark tan whereas Calder's skin is lightly bronzed.

These where the shapes they where born into, but their appearances change as they please

History:

The ant-firmament is a place where the souls travel when the body they reside in falls diseased. Its guarded by a large and ancient entity that by the day weakens, allowing the most self-determined spirits escape the same gate he guards. And even though the extent of his nature is beyond any human understanding, he can by no means act on his own volition in the world of the living. It is when the living call upon the souls of the anti-firmament to the physical world that he finds himself truly powerless.

Until the day he is allowed to step into the world to recall those who fled. The Great Reckoning.

Calder and Aiden existed within the realm the anti-firmament as two separate semi-conscious entities that were once close in life. The condition of the cosmos was appropriate for Fatina, an exiled Aelarean mage sentenced to death for necromancy, to summon the soul of a dead person through their bones. She picked a grave at random from one of the capitals cemeteries and through one of the most vile of ceremonies brought forth #21, later known as Caldren.

Just like a newborn, however in an adult form, he was kept caged for a couple and used as a test subject by Fatina. This had been the first successful creation of a human being, all the other subjects had lived for a short period of time and then died. After a week the contidions where again favorable and Fatina used another of the bones from the grave wondering about the outcome. This time she failed at calling another soul, but opened a door for one that pushed itself through into life. It was almost as if this soul yearned to live.

This second creation later chose the name of Aiden, but in the beginning he was simply #22. Shortly after #22 was summoned Fatina fell gravely ill. She discovered that bringing souls back came in the cost of pieces of hers. The only way #21 and #22 to exist was to take a fragment of a living soul to model a physical shape for the world of the living. These creatures where not human, their bodies did not follow the rules of the natural homosapien anatomy, but reacted to effects of nature and the anti-firmament. Ofcourse 21 and 22 where oblivious of these facts, as well as who they where or who they had been.

For mortals, the punishment to bring souls to life is death. For a soul to escape the divine realm is eternal torment. Calder had been given no choice, as he was stripped from that realm and forced into life. Aiden, however, pushed himself into the world of the living to continue his mutual existence with Calder. It is this mutual bond that allows escapee souls to exist in the physical world, once they have escape they must bond themselves onto another living entities essence.

Once Fatina fled she left her test subjects to die, their natural instinct of survival taught them the art of polymorphing, which their used to escape their confines.

In these past years they have learned about the physical world, and been shaped by society. They discovered their true nature, never considering themselves human, and used their primordial powers to posses other humans, whose lives they took as their own. Lately they have decided to stay in their natural form, both sharing the same fragmented soul that, otherwise human, should keep them alive. This however makes them incredibly vulnerable; they are subject to the effects of the anti-firmament, which would otherwise not be able to remove an escapee soul from a living one, as this would be interfering in the physical world.

Today they seek others like them.

Trasmutation of the Calamus
Through their bond and their ability to polymorph, Calder and Aiden can merge their bodies to become one entity known as the Calamus. Just as they can separately use their affinities of water and fire, Calamus can make use of th earthly botanic process. At this stage however the Calamus can only utilize the combined abilities of Calder and Aiden.

Equipment:
They both wear leather vests and steel shoulder plates
Calder carries a long sword made out of steel.
Aiden carries a hardwood bow and a quiver that can hold up to 20 steel-tip arrows.

Hi. Welcome to the site. Just a couple things to note and you'll be on your way. Sorry for the delay as well.

Calder: when you use ice/water, I'd like for you to set an upwards limit for how much. Nothing too much, like a couple gallons at once would be fine. Also, if you could only make one {1} strand of water/ice manipulation at a time for now. For example, if you make a water shield you can't make anything else till you let go of it.

For the polymorphing, if you could please remove the "Does not acquire particular weaknesses" thing, can't have a mouse that can't be stepped on and killed, lol.

Aiden: Same thing for his fire/electricity and polymorphing as above.

For the melding: I'd like that to see that you can only use a mixture of the two's abilities for now, instead of adding on extra. For a level 0 character having the ability to manipulate fire/water is enough. So, please remove the earth and healing skills for now.

Finally, I need a metal type for the sword and arrows. Hardwood can be left for the bow if you don't want to specify. At this level you can have either oak/yew and steel/iron.
