View Full Version : Storm of the Anointed

I'm tiered of solos.
I had this idea in my head that's been trying to brew for a couple weeks, but nothing much has really come out of it.
During the winter, Corone will start experiencing an abnormal amount of rain, it would have been raining non-stop for more than a week when the tread starts. Many places have already flooded, though this coastal city escape that fate just a little longer because of being so close to the sea. However the ties are high and the large sewers will be over flooded soon. All economic activity is suspended and communications to Jadet and Seneti have been cut off. Anyone living outside the capital, those who live in small towns and villages, are taken for dead. Underwood is believed to be completely underwater. Many desire to launch rescue operations, however, all plans seem futile against the steady rise of the water.
Gazing into the horizon of the sea from the highest towers of Radasanth one can appreciate the dark silhouette of a large structure the untrained eye would take as a mount. Those with telescopes can almost assure, with the help of flashing lightning, they see the surface of an arcane structure resembling the walls and towers of the same Radasanth. As this grim omen looms in the horizon for everyone to see, panic spreads about the havocking city. Reports about a draconian creature prowling in the overwhelmed sewers. It is all believed a myth until dismembered human carcasses commence to appear floating on the water. Its demonic roar frees the bravest of man from any valor.
In a time when holy superstition has been replaced by science and logical thinking, people have reverted to wonder, is this the punishment from their anointed one of old, Am’aleh?
Heh, sounds as epic as a featured quest. So just throw in any other ideas you might have, I'm not focussed on Corone particularly. I really really want to be interested again D:

Ooo I wanna go, I've been looking for something for Luc and this would probably intrigue him.

Hell yeah, I join up with you. This would be awesome for Jasker to get started . Seeing how that other thread I was gonna join fell through, I might as well be on the look-out for an awesome quest, and I think I found one!
Consider me interested.
EDIT: I wonder how Luc would react to being around Jasker too long. XD I'd laugh if he tried to turn me into something.

Hell put me on the list. I've not really done any quests since i've been on this site and well this should be the "cherry popper" for me.
Hmm sounds fun. Mind if I play the role of the draconian creature?

I wasn't really expecting to get more than two replies so I'm going pick two of you. I'll wait to see if more people are interested. The first post should be up soon enough.
Lightfoot

Which two are you picking?
Melancor

Ah Dawn-No
That's why I said I was going to wait a little bit to see if anyone else was interested. I think at this point it's pretty clear who my choices are going to be. Though I might as well just grab three.

02-07-09, 12:36 AM
Well who is it you are thinking of choosing?
Melancor

Sweet baby Jesus and Budha.
I'm not sure yet. don't angst over it,I'll be holding a bunch of other quests too.

The thread is up!

You guys can post an intro post and then the quest will start. Since I didnt mention it, one of you can say that they saw the city out on the sea and the other that you've heard of the creature. Sylvan has been sleeping the past couple days so he hasn't realized the proportions of the flood. He'll be rudely awakened, and will gtfoot.
We need to figure out how our characters will meet.

I'll get my post up by tonight. Things are starting to get noisy in my house, and I need peace and quiet to write. It'll calm down by tonight.
I like where the thread's going already. Looking forward to writing in this one.

Post is up. Sorry for the small delay, the new Prince of Persia took ahold of me and before I knew it, it was 2:00 in the morning.
Anyways, I mentioned the city out in the storm. If it isn't a worthy description, let me know and I'll edit in something somewhat better. And I hope you don't mind the little addition of the makeshift bridges either. I thought that'd be an interesting thing to add.

I'll hand you the gun if either of you feel the need to shoot yourselves. I'm sorry my posts are turning so damn long, don't worry my future posts will hopefully be more downsized and condensed.
Anyone's got a clever way on how to meet? Sylvan's pretty much in the middle of the city at the moment so if we should not discuss it just approach each other callously or something.

I'll find a way to bring Luc in close or whatever, or just wait until a more opportune time. Right now he'll just be considering the rain and what could be causing it.

I'll have my post up by tonight. And Melancor, you might want to read through your second post. I found a lot of typos and what not. Forgetting to capatilize 'i's and using 'where' instead of 'were', also you misspelled 'tired', you put 'tiered'.
There's more than just that, so I suggest you go through it with a fine-toothed comb.
Back on topic: I have no idea what to do with Jasker at the moment, I'll try to think of something by tonight, but most likely he'll already be in the city square when both of you showed up, getting some shelter from the rain, sitting under an awning or something smoking his pipe.
Regarding the meeting, how exactly are you wanting to play this out? The entire quest I mean. If this is an "attack" from Melancor's god brother, what's he going to do? I mean, even after reading the second post from you, I already feel kind of lost on what to do.

Believe me if I could see half of those mistakes I would correct them. I gave it a cat swipe, hope it improved at least slightly.
The tone in Am'alehs actions are more of slowly purging the city with the rain. I wouldn't like to undertone him as a god by actually portraying him physically in the story. Instead, I guess, we can have this dragon-like sea serpent start killing people. At first stealthily, which is when people will start noticing torn bodies of healthy people they just saw a couple minutes ago laying on the streets. Others would go around announcing what they have found and spreading rumors about a person seeing this large lizard thing as it attacked. Some mothers complain about children missing and such.
I guess we could be curiously be looking around to confirm this is real when either of us is actually attacked by it. That person will live long enough for the other to see it happen and aid. I guess that's how we could meet. After, the serpent stops its prowling ways and carelessly start roaming the flooding city.
That serpent is supposed to be a kind of hound of Am'aleh's (more like the offspring of one of his hounds). Still it is massively large, strong, and resilient.
Your next post could be about masses of people running around in panic because of a fresh victim and claim.

This sentence wasn't fully italicized, which I'm guessing you wanted it to be.
'Why hand't I left that hellhole when I could? Moreover why hadn't the situation improved while I slept?'
Also, I think you left an extra 'o' out of Moonlit Stone, unless you wanted it to be Monlit. And the Barrel of Monkeys is under water, since it's in the slums, as I had put.
Anyways, I didn't have a chance to sit down and think today, so expect my post by tomorrow. I'll put in the serpent thing. But do you think it could be quietly? Like the serpent steals them silently, then the body's never found?
EDIT: And I would prolly be the best to be attacked, being quick and slippery.
EDIT2: I understand it's hard to see the mistakes, but before you post, re-read it carefully, and anything I spot I'll tell you about.

Feel free to write the serpent however you like.
As for the italicized text. I meant it to be a change of tone even though it's not direct dialog but reference to what Sylvan was thinking.
Eh, I apologize. I'm still polishing my English. I made a couple tweaks, now he's not sitting outside a pub underwater.

I think we're in need of some clarification... In posts there should always be a portion where there is a very clear and distinct definition of the surroundings, especially in a setting like this. I assumed the town square was protected from the flood by careful and skilled maintenance, and I wrote it as such. That's still the case, right? That's the impression I got from Mel's earlier post, anyway.

I imagine the city being built in a sort of slope, the town's square is at a higher point whereas the slums are now underwater.
Since I changed where Silvan was sitting at the end of the post, where Jasker and Silvan are at the moment can be totally different places.
I was trying to give the idea that after the lower parts of the city had been flooded (where most of the bodies where being placed) they had to move them to higher grounds. The next highest checkpoint was the square plaza.
Lets say the water's getting pretty close to the city square, and as of now the rescue men could have placed sandbags or made dams on the southern streets, the other side leading to even higher streets could be exposed. About less than half the city is still not considered "flooded" but its getting there. Right now the center of the city is being used as an evacuee point. Imagine there are a bunch of tents where they are being served food, reason why most of the people are there, cramed inside the buildings, many others outside. The reference to the feet of the statue is to the statue of the eleven hero Radasanth, but it can be of anything at this point.
The buildings at the highest elevation are those of the government's offices.

Oh, okay. I didn't get the sense that that's how the city was at all. I'll have to edit my last post.

That's how I figured it was at first. Which was why I kept having my guys refer to it as going "up". Then I read Melancor's 2nd post and I was lost.

Posted. The man is the first person Silvan sees missing. At the moment there is no evidence for Silvan that this is a punishment from one of the gods. It is after he sees the city that he will realize. The post ends with Silvan standing at the end of the alley. If you guys want to mention him he'll most likely be walking back to where he was sitting prior, though he has his cloak on hand.
I hope it was ok otherwise.
Also, I'll skip a day or so on my next post; I'll be moving this weekend and I expect it to take a couple complete days to get everything to the other place.

You guys should skip me for this round. Anything I write at this point would be filler and would make the quest drag. Let's meet in the town square and get something started.

Yeah, I know. I've been sick for the past few days, and my mind's so fogged up I can't think of anything to write in there. I'll try to get a post up within the next week at the latest.
Melancor

I'm back as of now. I apologize if I haven't been giving much detail to work with off my posts. If you'd like me to edit it and add something I'll do it if you think it will help.
As long as this quest gets eventually finished, take your time.
