Kahne

Name: Kahne
Age: 18
Race: Lizardman
Hair Color: None
Eye Color: Yellow
Height: 6’6”
Weight: 379lbs
Occupation: Ranger

Personality: Kahne is a Ranger. His solitary nature leads him to be rude and unforgiving when in public settings. His assumption is always to take charge, and his commanding presence assists with that urge. Arguing is generally unpleasant, as he devoured many tomes while “employed” by the mage, and is much better read than his brutish appearance indicates. He has great difficulty forming relationships of any type with anyone, due to the sexual abuse he suffered at the hands of his maker. He has only two friends in this world, a pair of dogs he treasures over any human or “intelligent” life.

Appearance: Kahne’s imposing height leaves him towering over most humans. His obviously reptilian features have left him outcast amongst humans, as have his unsavory appetite and rumors about his past. Despite the rot he eats, some magic in his nature prevents the stench from pervading the area, probably for his master’s benefit. His common form of dress is a pair of black jack boots, heavy buckskin trousers, and a leather vest. The only “dye” used in their making has been blood, and they are both a slightly unsettling shade of brown.

History: Kahne was not born in the normal sense, but created. A mixture of human and animal attributes, he hatched from an egg. From his earliest age he was a servant to the mage who had created him, doing anything requested by his master. From the age of seven he became, in addition to his other duties, a toy for his masters pleasure. His master trained him in everything he thought reasonable, teaching the ambidextrous lizard man to fight in an exceedingly brutal style, to serve as a bodyguard. When he reached the age of 13 it all became too much, and he killed his master one night, after having been tortured and used in numerous unpleasant and unspeakable ways. Once he was healed, and set to guard the door, he approached his master, and bit off his right hand. From there he bit off limbs and body parts methodically, eventually eating the entire body. He fled Salvar, bearing only his weapons and clothes, to begin again in Raiaera.

Skills:

Scent: Kahne can track by scent, tasting his quarry with his tongue. He is an above average tracker. He attunes best on carrion, as his reptile half was primarily a scavenging lizard. If he bites someone who escapes from him, he may also track them more easily as rot develops in the wound.

Rot: Kahne has absolutely no qualms about what he eats. His digestive tract can handle anything that is not actively poisonous(cyanide, etc.), his mouth teems with disease carrying agents, and any bite he lands has a very high chance of becoming infected. Infection generally sets in after two days, without treatment.

Machete: Kahne fights with a pair of machetes. He is an above average fighter.

Beat Rod: A unique weapon, it harnesses the power of his shells, being capable of holding one at a time, like a spear head. It protects them from damage, while allowing them to affect an opponent. He is an average fighter with it.

Caster: Kahne has some bit of magical power, but cannot directly employ any of it. He can however channel it into special shells created by his maker for the express purpose of harnessing his energy. He has ten of these shells, and without a reworking of their materials, he can only store a small portion of energy in each. The shells release their magic force when struck with sufficient vigor. He can currently empower two kinds of shells. They are currently made of Quartz.

Harmonic: The shell creates a destructive harmonic in whatever it strikes. Due to the small charge, he cannot destroy more than a cubic foot of inorganic matter(Granite, Iron, similar items), or a cubic inch of organic matter(wood, flesh) per strike.

Maul: An explosive release. The squishiness of the human body allows this to cause immense injury with little energy input, making it a better combat shell. When this detonates in contact with a body the force is transferred into the soft tissue, causing ruptures and intense pain and bleeding. It is rarely fatal, as it is still too small to cause widespread trauma, but the pain is highly distracting. It will effect approximately 6 inches of flesh, with the injury decreasing dramatically past 4 inches.

Skin: His skin is scaly and resistant to stabbing and slashing attacks, like light leather.

Equipment:

Beat Rod: A 7 foot steel shaft with a screw on tip capable of holding one of his shells. He fights with it like a spear.

Machetes: Simple steel machetes, with thick blades and heavy guards to protect his hands. They are perfect for hacking through whatever strikes his fancy. He has two.

Shells: Simple quartz crystals, they are approximately three and a half inches long, and the diameter of a modern twelve gauge shotgun shell. They are perfectly smooth, and free of inclusions, even though somehow runes have been carved into them, and are visible in direct light. They contain one of two types of magic, and he has ten of them. Changing out one for another takes several minutes, and is effectively impossible in combat. They can be thrown, but the impact would destroy them, so he does not use them as thrown weapons.

Amulet: A small amulet his master gave him. It warms him when temperatures would force his body into hibernation. It gives no defense against cold magic, as the onset is too rapid for the amulet to handle.

Pack: Kahnes pack holds all the necessities for survival in the wilderness.

Familiars:

Sky and Sirius:

A pair of large working dogs, they are both aggressive and playful. They are both breeds similar to the Siberian Husky or Alaskan Malamute. Sky is almost half again as large as Sirius, weighing nearly 60 pounds, while Sirius weighs perhaps 40. They are both loyal without question, and well trained. They serve as guard dogs and companions for the lone Lizardman. Kahne seems to have some sort of connection to both of them that defies explanation, but also cannot be manipulated at the moment.

Alright, welcome to Althanas and thanks for posting your profile for review. I'll be helping you with the process and hopefully we can strike a cord together that will allow us to get through this process quickly and efficiently.

1) Harmonic seems a bit on the strong side to me, being able to destroy inorganic matter regardless of the metal or stones respective strength. I would like it to scale back right now so it can only shatter inch thick sheets of iron at best, and crack granite or other mixed stone.

2) From what I understand Maul is capable of shattering bones right now, I see that as no different from a hammer, but perhaps giving a rough area of effect (like a couple of inches in diameter or such) could be helpful to letting your opponents know the damage you're capable of.

3) I want it made clear here and now, that the two dogs, while loving comrades are only to be used in a fight with your opponent's permission. They're treated as a familiar of sorts, and so make sure like all familiars to clear their use with your opponents so as to minimize any fuss during fights. Likewise, since they are familiars, you have final say on what goes with them, and you are allowed to strengthen them at level up as you level yourself.
