First Draft.

Name: Syste

Age: Technically 56

Race: Altered Human

Gender: Male

Appearance:

A devious human that has translated his own version of the evolutionary superior being. The shackles, confines, and restraints of only having a diminutive size compared to giants, the strength of a sick dog, and the motor skills of a sponge fell off at the moment Syste removed his soul from his body. Only the clear vision of superiority, the epitome of strength and versatility lingered just behind his eyes, a feat soon fully realized.

Now Syste stands comparably equal to trolls with a height of above nine feet. His strength enhanced by the excess weight of his new appendeges and second pair of arms. Especially the second arms, located just under the first pair, help raise his personal superiority over the feeble human. Not a day goes by without him finding more ways to improve in his bodily and sensory organs. And the second pair of arms are not technically his own creation.

Recently, this beast of a man implemented a second set of eyes; an idea inspired by the use of arms. In order to do this, Syste had to make several alterations. No longer do the eyes sit horizontally oval just beside the bridge of his nose. Now they glare a lurid gaze as circular spheres with blackened eyewhites and only a golden ring of light to highlight the pupils. Each eye is controlled independently. It is not rare to see Syste staring at many places at once. The true horror unfolds when he stares with each pupil at you!

The face itself is egg-shaped, and lacks a nose. Gill slits on the side of his throat consume the oxygen, depriving the lesser organisms of theirs. More specifically, four slits seat on each direction in his throat with flaps constantly covering them. The amount of oxygen stolen from the atmosphere roughly equates to a larger family sucking the life-support out of a shut one-room house.

Scars litter the side of Syste's torso- a homage to the many diverse experiments he has performed in order to become a higher being. Numerous bones bulk up his shoulders and back, additional supporting bones increase the weight limit of the spine, now a hideous abomination of a structure. The ribcage extends down into the pelvic region, and many fine creases denote these extra bones on his rectus abdominis. (That's the six-pack region of the body.)

Not a single scrap of hair trashes his body. During a grueling experiment in which Syste tried to keep all pores closed, he found the way to promote body-wide hair loss. However, the idiocity of closing all pores left a deep scar in his body, and many places are blotched purple and red where blood group had died and drifted to the surface of the skin. Therefore, an otherwise flawless oaken brown skin complexion has been stigmatized by dead cells sitting adrift just under his skin. Permanently.

An intrinsic quality of his body are his tattoos. Through the blood of any organic, living creature, Syste can unleash potent magical spells that he channels from one major tattoo on his chest. This infernal painting starts with a basic circular shape and extends outwards with a seemingly unlimited amount of circles, swoops and spirals that just brim with magic potential. A blue humming glow arises from the epicenter of his chest and fuels all other tattoos by feeding the power through the many loops and circles and swirls. During battle, Syste lights up all the tattoos on his body and himself almost seems effeminately blue.

Syste drew tattoos all over his body. Some sit solemnly in one spot, while others might have three directly connecting markings. Each marking is painted differently in accordance to the spell he wants to prepare. Most shapes are circular in pictorial logic, but triangles and other basic geometric shapes can be observed now and again.

The markings and lack of feeling stimulate the desire to roam through the world naked. This Syste does with much comfort, but experience has shared with him the benefits of wearing a leather tunic across his extremities. If often waves with the wind and calls itself the color brown because of years of use.

So is Syste, such he shall be until another divine idea propels him to further enhance his body.

Personality:

Most people usually have nothing negative to say about Syste. His replies are short, crisp, and to the point. Lies do not lay hidden beneath these scarce words, and mostly a friendly smile accompanies those. Otherwise, his facial features seem relaxed, his posture normal, and his hands withing viewing distance. For some, his voice might even sound something remotely likable, even though that's a stretch.

For people that longer indulge themselves in wordily exchange, they will soon figure out that all is not well beneath the few scarce words that Syste has chosen for them. He does not lie, because he has forgotten the difference between that and truth. He smiles, because he knows people take to him more kindly if he does. He keeps his posture relaxed, and his hands within distance because he can, not because he has to.

Syste has his own agenda, and does not take the lives and morals of people into account. He can't. His mind tries to emulate the features that are most important to others: kindness, neutrality, and morals. However, he does not connect with these emotions.

Therefore, it is completely irritable for Syste to realize that one of his action's has begotten him ill will with the people. For example, when he finds a relic that he has searched for months with a party, and then takes it on the basis that he can use it the most, he cannot understand why the other's call him greedy, or a bastard backstabber. His logic is not undermined by any moral duty to his fellow partners, and this often gets him into trouble.

With a failure to actively feel like the rest of the world, a lot of his actions are considered immoral and evil. However, Syste can 'not' be compared to evil since his affinity to evil is not because of a desire, but because of a lack of understanding. Any action he does on behalf of his common sense and intelligence is not done for any other reason.

Finally, he 'is', however, versed in the ways of elocution. Anything that he can perceptively grasp with his plethoric intelligence is susceptible to abuse. Lying, cheating, persuading, swashbuckling and understanding clear measures of right and wrong are all perfectly understood and used by Syste.

Finally, a measure of 'courage' and 'ignorance' are carried by the fact that he cannot be intimidated by emotions anymore. His rationality has leveled this part of his mind, and he may often come across more than nonchalant in his responses to critical questions and debates. Common sense often dictates to him how things should end, but this does not have to be in keeping with everybody else's opinion, and he usually accompanies anybody in an effort to fulfill his own agenda.

In conclusion, Syste does not help, nor hurt, anybody. He can't, and will probably join anybody if he finds personal reward. This is not a monetary reward, but a spiritual reward that will increase his intellect and knowledge of things. Also, he cannot feel pain anymore.

History:

Syste has not always been as described now. In his youth Syste excelled as a neophyte sorcerer with a penchant for the necromantic and spiritual. He found the dualism of death and divine more than interesting, and sought to permanently imbibe his soul in an indestructible cocoon that would prevent his body from ever dying.

This experiment succeeded on the first try several decades later, but within days Syste wished that it had failed. He felt empty, devoid of any love for his craft. Within two weeks he felt insane, lonely, and trapped. He tried destroying the devilish cocoon, a small oval relic that floated in the center of a magic-field, but failed miserably. Instead, the increase of personal ability would become his new goal, and vowed to one day destroy the blasted cocoon.

Eventually, however, Syste forgot the cocoon, and instead devoted his life completely to the task of upgrading himself. Feelings of insanity faded away like rock against the rhythmic beating of water as time moved on, and he found a new source of casting magic.

From his personal interest in death and divinity, Syste found that pieces of other people's souls could be extracted via direct ingestion of their bodily material. After said organic material had entered the bloodstream, he would then paint markings over his body which he could then activate at the cost of some of that devoured energy. The large scar in the center of his biggest tattoo, the only permanent one, bore the source of that energy.

It was then when Syste started changing his body, increasing his size permanently by constantly operating on himself, and eventually even grafting some more arms onto his body. Since his soul no longer inhabited his body, these operations never cost him any energy through the throes of pain, and morality quickly made way for common sense that dictated the clear need for a larger body and more arms.

Nowadays, Syste lives in an undescribed part of the world awaiting more knowledge and more opportunities to better himself.

Ability:

Syste uses magic by consuming the flesh and blood of anything. Animals, humans, beasts or demons- it doesn't matter. The only precedence anything could have is by their size and amount of blood. Blood is used to make the markings on his body, and he always carries a pouch with both blood and flesh at his side. The complexity of the spell determines the amount of time it takes to place a mark.

Each mark is activated through a touch, and each mark dissipates in an unspectacular fog of odorless gas. Each marking is instantly destroyed when the blood is smeared, or an object pierces the skin which the tattoo is on. Tattoos can be overlapped, or parts of a marking used for another.

For the sake of RP, and level, Syste has only low-level spells available to him, and I will always describe what each rune does at the start of battle, or the RP unless he makes more. Furthermore, he does not use elemental spells, only Necromantic and Divine spells.

Only the chest rune is indestructible, and the forced removal of it would kill Syste. The chest rune is the main tattoo, from it leaks all the power to the other runes on his body. The glow emanating from it comes from the immense power stored at that point in his body. It has no other functions except a suicide button if somebody would become able to erase it.

Most spells will deal with necromantic properties such as a blood, bone, and decay. For an out-of-game example, see the Necromancer from Diablo II. This is not to say that I will rip his spells, but it gives a measure of understanding. For those that have no played Diablo II, here would be a starter set of markings on his body for a new quest:

Sense the living: Syste hears a vibration whenever something larger than one foot is a circular area with a radius of twenty meters.

Sweep: Syste arcs his arm in a circular motion, and a thread of light stretches out from his fingertips and forcibly pushes enemies backwards. No harm done, but enemies cannot easily pass this barrier, and that's the point of the spell.

Enhance Emotion: An almost passive spell that makes Syste and all living beings within the immediate area (roughly twenty feet) emote more drastically since he has a problem identifying it sometimes.

Clot: Stops bleeding.

Holy Word: A syllable in an unknown tongue that pacifies an enraged creature.

Unholy Word: Enrages a creature instead. The rage is, if cast on a user, specified by them, otherwise by my if it's an NPC monster or a non-DM NPC.

Crack: Opens a hole in the earth ten feet deep. The hole is five feet wide.

Poisonous Grasp: Covers Syste's hands in the poisonous blood. Also becomes acidic and can corrode silk, and other thin fabrics.

Emotion: Allows Syste to properly display an emotion once. Any emotion.

Conceal Intent: Syste's words become definite neutral and cannot be read from.

These are examples, not a complete list of what he has on his body. Syste may choose five out of this list at the beginning of the thread, and gets to refuel his spells during resting periods in the quest.

Physical Traits:

Strength: Average (Because of his size, it's still more than a regular, unfit human)

Dexterity: Poor (Large size makes it difficult to quickly react to movement)

Alacrity: Above Average (Large steps)

Intelligence: Extremely high (Long life + constant longing for more information)

Wisdom: None (No morals, no guidance, no conscience, nothing)

Charisma: Below Average (Just doesn't strike anybody as pretty)

Constitution: Average (Walks a lot, that's about it)

I like it a lot, just a couple things that I have to ask. Can you give me some examples of what spells he can use at this point. I'm willing to leave it a little open ended, but would like to know for the sake of understanding. And, the chest rune, what is it? Just something to keep him alive? Or does it have any other purpose?

Changed. I have a lot more to add about his history and personality, but it was two in the morning last night and I have to leave soon anyway :P So this'll do until I have more time ^^

Changed the description of the chest rune, and added some basic spells. I do want some free-range to make up more in-game! xD

The chest is the source of his power. The tattoos are simultaneously fueled by it, and are therefore all interconnected with the chest rune. To destroy it would cause the power to burst, and kill him. Though it'll be a safe guess that nothing soon will kill him by removal of the rune, and he'll probably just die with a sword through the heart. If they reach it.

Cheers!

Unfortunately at level 0 it's very difficult to allow so many spells. The ones you have listed are too many right now, and the categories that you can cast are too many. I'd like for you to only be able to cast a certain number of spells for now...

Since you have no weapons or armor I'll allow 6 spells for now.

Sorry for the confusion. Necromantic/Divine/Light/Dark were all supposed to mean the same thing. Therefore, I have just cut it away and listed Necromantic and Divine so that mixup doesn't happen anymore ^^

Changed description, and now onto the list of spells. Can we do it that I have a rather large repetoire to choose from, but I only am allowed to choose six of them at any time? For example, I'll start with this set:

Blood Wall, Conceal Intent, Breaker, Bone Armor, Sense the Living, Poisonous Grasp

The thing is, Syste is already a gargantuan human with a lot of space on his body for many runes. I am fine with saying that they're big runes that take up all the space and that some areas are off-limits because they're hard to reach. However, I would like that I have a large list of spells to choose from for my six spells that I may inscribe onto his body.

How about 10 spells, you can pick 5 in a thread to use? We'll just have to be careful not to have too many powerful fighting spells that you chose before a fight.

Hmmm... Alright. Need to level then. I love to have a huge list to select my abilities from :P I'll scratch off three spells from the list to make ten, and limit the power and scope of my attacking abilities. Deal? ^^

Looks cool. I was trying to allow the character and the plan to stay without ignoring the level constraints. I think this should be fine though and I'm sorry for having to knock it back so much. Have fun, good luck! I look forward to reading some of your stuff, as well as maybe joining something with you in the future. Thanks for being understanding!

Approved!
