BERNHARDT
02-15-09, 06:53 AM
Name: Bernhardt

Age: At least a Century

Race: Bear Spirit

Hair Color: Brown

Eye Color: Brown

Personality: Bernhardt uses few words to express a thought of a poet. He speaks with a simple, though tactful, tongue. Though grounded with a strong since of right and wrong, he does not express when he feels as others are acting differently than he would. Bernhardt believes it would be easier to stand in another's way, than to convince them to come to his side. He takes advantage of humanity's fear, and when prompted will intimidate those with weak will.

Appearance: Bernhardt appears to be a dark brown bear. Short, stubby ears set atop a long face covered in brown fur. Dark, tired eyes pear out from their place at the base of his mussel. Dark black lips follow the mussel and open to reveal the angry, large teeth that his mouth hides. His stout neck connects his large head to his muscular body. His fur, matted and dark, is slightly longer than other bears of his size. His massive front legs lead down to his gargantuan paws, each armed with five sharp claws. Bernhardt's wider rear end lends him a waddle when he walks, and massive momentum when running.

History: " 'Bout a century ago." A haggard vagrant stands stranded, deep in the winding forest roads. A beaten dirt path stretches outward, leading many places, but starting nowhere. The man stumbles on his words, mumbles barely heard by two fledgling travelers who had stumbled upon the loon. "Oh my yes, one hundred years ago. Barbarians!" The wily man barked. "The foresters hunted here to create their blood-hungry visage." He drew his words out, hissing with each as if they cut his tongue. "The bears, stole from them their pelts, those barbarians!" His head rocked back and forth across his shoulders, his eyes rolled helplessly."They slaughtered the beasts, then wore them as trophies. The brash brutes beat each of his cornered cherished cubs for their boots. They used the blood of his mates for their frothing faces. Each kill a merciless message of triumph through the act of massacre." The loon fell and began to shiver, his eyes closing before his body snapped into an outstretched pose to the sky. "Leave my daughter alone!" His eyes shot open and struck the travelers with his message of defiance. The travelers backed slowly from his display, turning to remove themselves quickly from his fit.

The vagrant rolled into a fetal position, holding his kneels close to his chest. "They invaded his glade, stomping on the life he protected. They wore his own daughter as a trophy on their head. They would not stop at enough." Tears fall from the man's eyes, bringing moisture to his dried, decaying skin. "They came to his broken glade in the night, wearing his family. They held arms made of bear bone, those barbarians! As the moon poured into his glade those barbarians went to take the king's pelt." His hands shook violently as the rain began to sprinkle on the cold sanity that was rolled on the ground. A growl rang from the man's throat. "He have his last stand in that glade. None walked away with his pelt, not even himself. His death breathed rebirth to the glade. The glade, rebirth to him."

Skills:

Gift of the Glade - Upon his resurrection, Bernhardt could express his thoughts to others without the use of language. Though he does not speak, if it is his will, his deep, raspy, brooding voice resonates in other's minds.

Astral Shift - Bernhardt can shift into an astral state through deep meditation, reducing the amount of effect that both physical and magic damage do on him by a small to moderate amount. While in his astral form Bernhardt cannot attack or move. 2 post time limit.

Genesis - Through deep meditation Bernhardt can heal both the land and allies with in close proximity for a small amount over a long time (about 10 feet in any direction). Can cause dead soil to sprout life, though not necessarily sustain it. Can only be used while in an astral state. Cannot be used in conjunction with Eclipse.

Eclipse - Through deep meditation Bernhardt can cast a dark shadow over a small area of land surrounding himself (about 10 feet in any direction), both helping to conceal allies and himself, and reducing the effects of all healing in the eclipse (Player will controlled). Can only be used while in an astral state. Cannot be used in conjunction with Genesis.

Equipment: Claws, teeth, and a lot of fur. Just as strong as normal bear-quipment.

Hey hey, welcome to Althanas! I'll be reviewing this for you today. First things first:

What do you mean by 'when in Bernhardt's glade, he regenerates health status at a high rate'? What does it mean to be in Bernhardts glade?

Please put a time limit for the Astral Shift

And what are the claws and teeth relative to? Just regular claws and teeth of a bear?

Hey hey! Thanks for the welcome!
Alright, I removed the part about the regeneration in Bernhardt's Glade, That was a dead mechanic for the PbP forum I had originally made this character for. I added the time limit to the astral shift. Also, I added a little reminder of the strengths of Bernhardt's slicers.

'bear-quipment'... hahahaha. Awesome. If you need help with anything feel free to ask myself or any of the staff. I'm always open to PM or IM whenever. You are free to do whatever it is reincarnated bears do... catch reincarnated fish which are actually your old enemies or... something?

Approved!
