the Tainted
02-22-09, 08:26 PM
Name: Trinquity Rei
Age: 16
Race: She comes from a parallel universe, although she is not aware of it, and so her blood is half Demon, half Tainted, two races from that parallel world.
Hair Colour: Charcoal black
Eye Colour:Her left eye is vivid green and her right eye is bright scarlet.
Height: 5'4
Weight: 99 pounds
Occupation: Student/Adventurer
Personality: She's the kind of girl who stares at you like she's daring you to look at her. She's a girl who is easy to laugh and quick to anger. She hates being proved wrong and being humiliated, as her classmates frequently try to do to her. She has a tendency to cry very easily; she even cries when she's angry; something she hates, as she sees it as an embarrassing weakness. If she loathes anything, it's showing her weaknesses to other people. When she's embarrassed, she tends to get more angry. Inside she's quite fragile, and strikes out when she's down. A sense of not-belonging overwhelms her sometimes. She wants to stick out and she wants people to think she's weird, but she doesn't want to be completely alone. Trinquity always feels like she's searching: for purpose, for love, for truth, for answers. You can't get bored watching her. Whatever she does, she tends to do it spectacularly. When she's upset she makes a fool of herself, usually throwing things or yelling a lot before storming off to cry in peace. When she's angry she makes a fool of herself, usually throwing things while yelling a lot before storming off to cry in peace. When she's happy, the sun shines out of her. Although she'd never admit it, a lot of the bluster hides a girl who is smart and sensitive and not quite as sure of herself as she seems. Three words to describe the best of her are spunky, brave, and independent. Three words to describe the worst of her are lost, reckless, and proud. I think she's a girl who is trying to find herself and won't let anyone or anything stand in her way.
Appearance: Spikes of short charcoal hair hang down starkly over one side of a face as pale as moondew. One luminescent green eye gazes out above maroon lips; the other eye, a shock of scarlet, is hidden by a veil of black. She's a thin girl, unnaturally so. The sharp angles of elbows, knees, and shoulders give way to the subtle curves of her body, but the skinniness is all other people seem to see. The jut of her chin seems to challenge you, and there's something like fire sparking in her eyes. Her clothes are the regular school uniform, a pleated skirt, high socks, a blouse, and a long sleeved sweater that ties in the middle, except she's altered it slightly. She sewed patches of material onto her uniform in eclectic patterns, and ditched the traditional shoes for plaid platform boots in an effort to make herself seem taller. Everything about her is designed to get a second glance, designed to poke fun at conformity and show her independence. If you pointed her out on the street and asked a complete stranger what they thought of her they'd probably say, "Her? She's a weird looking, freakishly skinny girl." But's that's because they can't see her properly. They're looking through a haze of expectations and misconceptions. Only a person worthy of her will be able to look through the prejudice and say, "She's beautiful"
History: Trinquity can't remember anything from before she was eleven years old. Her first memory is that of standing on the side of a highway and watching the traffic go by........
She was cold. The wind was slicing into her, making her white nightgown whip around her ankles and long tendrils of hair dance around her face. The gravel on the side of the road cut into her feet as she watched the headlights race back and forth, sweeping by unaware. Some of the cars slowed; she saw paper faces turn towards her behind glass walls before they sped on; but most just zoomed by like they had places they needed to get to really fast.
She didn't move when the car pulled up on the shoulder, and didn't look over when someone climbed out and moved towards her.
"Oh my God, I was right, there is a little kid here!"
A black silhouette bent down towards her and she stiffened.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. You must be freezing! Where are your parents?"
She didn't understand what the nice voice was asking.
"Trinquity Rei," she said, staring up at the women above her. "My name is Trinquity Rei. What are parents?"
"Bloody hell," the women muttered, rubbing a gloved hand across her face. She had just been driving back to university from her parents house. She really didn't need this kind of complication!
Trinquity shivered as a transport truck screamed by, kicking up a billow of cold wind.
"Come with me," the women said as she came to a decision. She held out a hand and smiled kindly. "I'm going to take you to the police, alright?"
Trinquity took the offered hand and followed the women over to her car.
"You just get in the back and wrap yourself up in that blanket," the women said, gently pushing the girl into the backseat of the car. "You sure are lucky you were picked up by me and not some pervert," she continued as she slid into the front seat and fumbled with her keys. "It's not a good idea for eleven year old girls to be walking around by themselves at night, especially not by the side of a highway."
But Trinquity was no longer listening. A delicious warmth was spreading through her as she lay curled underneath the ratty old blanket. The ragged edges tickled her nose and it smelled faintly of cats, but there was something comforting in it. It wasn't long before she was lulled to sleep by the warmth of the blanket and the steady hum of the car beneath her.
When she awoke, she was in a bed, a lovingly handmade quilt resting upon her, her head pillowed on a giant stuffed dog. The room was small, but cozy, decked out in bright red and blue stripes. The entire south wall was an enormous bay window, overlooking a patchwork o fields and forests. A the horizon there was a thin ribbon of bright blue; a lake, she decided. The windowsill was lined with books, mostly thick novels with titles in gold letters, proclaiming stories of adventure and daring. More stuffed animals were perched upon the crown of a wooden dresser, their glass eyes reflecting the colours of the walls. The light streamed in through the window, pooling on the thick white carpet.
A women, but not the same one as before, pushed open the door and stepped into the room. She was holfing a tray of food, but when she saw Trinquity, she set it down on the desk at the foot of the bed.
"Tim, she's awake!" the woman called out through the open door before turning back to the girl in the bed. She clucked her tongue in disapproval and sat down on the side of the bed, placing her hand on Trinquity's forehead. "Hey, sweetie, you alright? You've been asleep ever since the police brought you home."
The words and voice seemed familiar, but all she could feel was confusion. "Who are you?" Trinquity asked.
The woman took her hand away and bit her lip, a strange look of sadness stealing over her features. At that moment, a man entered, followed by a small toddler.
"Tim, she doesn't remember me," the woman said. The man's face clouded over and he knelt next to the bed.
"Trinquity, we're your parents. Your mother and father," the man said. "This is your little brother, David."
The toddler turned his face up towards the girl, wide eyes peering up under a tuft of blond hair. His face dimpled as he smiled. "Twinkity," he said. "Hey, hey!"
Trinquity gazed down at his face and suddenly felt a fierce rush of love towards him. "David," she repeated. "My brother."
The two adults shared a look of hope.
"We know you'll regain the rest of your memory with time," the woman said, smiling. "We know it!"
Trinquity let them hug her. For some reason, they were crying.
Slowly she came to accept this as her home over the next few years. According to her parents, they had just moved to this small town when she, upset because of the move, had run away. Apparently she'd been missing for two days before she was found on the side of the highway. It didn't explain why she couldn't remember anything though. As soon as she went to school she became aware that she was different from her classmates somehow. She relished it and deliberately stuck out, reveling in her "weirdness". Slowly, she settled into her life. She loved her parents and her brother, but that sense that she was different never quite left. After a fight with her parents, a few weeks after her fifteenth birthday, she briefly transformed into her Tainted form, wings, claws and all. At the same time she began having flashbacks. But instead of the happy childhood her parents had described to her, these flashbacks are filled with fire and running people and two voices calling her name. Now she knew that whatever she was, it wasn't a regular person. And when Eduardo showed up to tell her that she was half Tainted and half Demon, and that she came from a parallel universe, she knew that she would have to find the truth once and for all. A whisper on the wind told her that she would find the answers she was seeking in the mystical world of Althanas. So, taking nothing but her messenger bag, some clothes, some food, and Eduardo, she traveled into the world of Althanas in search of the truth to her past.
Trinquity is trying to find out who her real parents are, who she is, and where she comes from, but along the way she's going to get into some battles, go on some quests, make some friends, and get stronger.
Skills: She loves to sew and does so very well. Because she has the blood of a Tainted, she has the ability to transform into Tainted form. In Tainted form she has claws an inch long on her fingers and she has huge black wings. The claws have the strength of Iron. When in Tainted form, she can fly, although not very well. Unfortunately, she can't control her transformations yet. She transforms whenever her emotions reach a peak, like when she's angry or upset. Through her demon blood, she has more powers, but she hasn't discovered them yet. The powers she will eventually get are the power to enter other people's dreams, the power to cut things using her mind, and the power to make flames burst from her hands. She can't do any of these yet, and doesn't even know she has the potential to.
Equipment: She always carries a green recyclable messenger bag with her at all times.
Familiars: A mechanical monkey small enough to fit into the palm of her hand appears on her windowsill one day, saying that he knew about her past. His name is Eduardo and he says he has been searching for Trinquity ever since the two of them were separated the night she lost her memory and was found on Earth. His data banks were tampered with, so he can't remember anything except for the fact that he is her mech partner. All Tainted children are given a mech partner when they're born ans he says that he's hers. Eduardo now travels with her everywhere in her messenger bag.
**I would like to add a note that although I have never used this character in a story before, the race of the Tainted is something I created, along with the parallel universe. No one else can use the theme of the Tainted.
