...with a smile on my face and a song in my heart!
“There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct or more uncertain in its success than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things.” ~ Niccolo Machiavelli
No, I do not plan on shaking things up, unlike Mr. Bond's martini, but I do hope to get involved in some decent storylines, along with my partner (she'll be along soon) and some new people. Hey! I'm new, so that means just about anybody!
I'm not new to RP/Writing, but the world I was and still am in has gotten a bit stale so I seek new pastures, green or not, and I have intentionally left my character somewhat normalized; no supernatural powers, extraordinary combat skills, endless bags and jars of potions and powders. He's just a guy, with the gift of gab and song, and will (try to) rely on his wit to do...whatever it is we do here.
So, Cheerio!
Mmm, Earthling. Not too common. I only know of two that stuck around Althanas more than a little while.
Greetings, Earthling!

Ohmygod! THE BRITISH ARE COMING THE BRITISH ARE COMING!!!
Oh yeah, welcome and eat the cookies.
Wherever and whoever they come from.
Ignore him. Don't eat the cookies and don't hit on the redheads, lest Letho eat you.
If you have any questions, that's what the people with names in bold or italics are for, but if you can find someone with formerly bolded or italicized names, we're generally more than willing to help newbies gain their footing, too.
But seriously, don't hit on the redheads. There are high level characters out there for some of them that will literally eat you for it.

Hmmm...t'be eaten or not t'be eaten? That seems to be the question.
*chuckles*
I'll take that as fair warning, and shall eschew those of the flaming tresses...for now.
And don't assume I am British, Lord Anglekos. I come from much hardier and more ancient stock. *grins*

You're JEWISH?!
Please don't beat me with your jew-jitsu. Please.
Lol, in any case, welcome again. Just be warned that once you come here, you can never truly leave. Seriously. This place is addicting.

*laughs* More ancient than that (or so we like to believe)...Scottish Celt to be exact, though I find myself in the US, living in the Deep South.
And addiction is what it is all about!
Thanks all, for the Welcomes! :)

Which part of the Deep South? Are you talking Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, or Southern Texas?

The Deepest South, of course!
North Florida, in the panhandle... ;)

Bah. Florida's not the South. ANY linguistics student can tell you that. It may be south compared to most of the US, but it is NOT The South.

Welcome to Althanas. It seems calm on the surface, but beneath it is a boiling cesspit of insanity that you can never truly escape, as others have testified before, and shall testify again.
Don't let it bother you, have a cookie instead.
*holds out plate of double chocolate chip cookies, made entirely from Belgium chocolate. some milk, some dark. A red spirit of death flees out of the plate and warns "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!" in a ghostly moan as it passes.*
Yeah, you should probably ignore what the spirit said, it doesn't mean it's a dangerous Doom Cookie or anything. I mean, I can promise that nothing most likely won't happen if you have one.*
Besides, everyone has had one already and their still standing. I mean it was easy to accomplish, I just snuck into the back end and replaced Serilliant's normal Webcookies the site gives you when you visit, with my patented Doom Cookies. So see, everyone's unwillingly had a Doom Cookie.
*Doom cookies proven to be 4X deadlier and tastier than Poisoned cookies in laboratory studies, clinical lab tests, and taste tests done by visual impared people.

*laughs again* I beg to differ ma'am, as Florida is most definitely the South. Natives do draw the line somewhere north of the I4 corridor, considering everything south of that to be an extension of...uhm...certain Caribbean principalities and territories. And, I was careful to specify North Florida. *grins*
Historical Fact: Tallahassee, the capital of Florida, was the only Confederate capital successfully defended and never captured during the War of Northern Aggression *nods*
And, linguistically, a visit to any of the rural, farming communities scattered all over North Florida will delight the ears of any linguist seeking the soft, rolling Southern drawl that is such a icon of Southern colloquialism. *smiles*
Rahegalhoff, I thank you for the offer, but I believe I'll pass on any cookies, other than those that allow me the freedom to peruse this site.
