hey hey hey, i just had a brain storm, and i doubt anyone would be interested but, a battle of armies

a titanic battle, of different armies. each person controls an army and all the armies clash in one great big battle in one open field, all soldiers are like level 0 if not less, like 4 of them would make one level 0, so its a low level friendly scenario.

but it could be incredibly fun,

post here if interested and give feedback on idea ^.^

It's called Gisela...and I think it's time for another.

Don't think of it as awkward. We've been waiting for the Gisela again for a good long while, now... But initializing it as a Gisela style fight would be interesting to say the least

and how would one go about initializing it as a Gisela style fight?

It's actually very simple. You can turn around and use the armies to fight one another. Now, the Gisela style required that you list the numbers of your troops up to a certain number limit, let's say about two thousand soldiers. You explain how many of each kind of combatant you have on your team, and then you begin the fight. The armies will battle one another, as will the generals (the player's characters) begin fighting one another.

Gisela battles are fun, but are generally avoided because they're so large scale and people prefer to roleplay stuff that is canon.

I mean, I doubt most characters here own armies.

Last I remember Gisela threads was when a tourney focused on them was getting started. I left as soon as it started, but man did I have some kickass ideas.

The general rule of thumb from what I remember was that the first poster would describe the setting and in OOC information list all their troops, the different types of abilities they have, and how many. For example:

Scouts (20): Steel swords, light leather armor, blah blah blah

And then just kinda have a few key NPCs and include your character in the army and that was about it. Good luck if you go for it.

Army battles are great fun, though they tend to be a lot of work. The trick is not to think of them in a rigid manner. You character doesn't necessarily need to lead the army. You can come up with some NPCs to work as the command staff, and tie the whole battle into a compelling story. The challenge is the amount of work required compared to a regular battle.

I love army battles, but I've got a lot on my plate already to take on something so work-intensive. I can certain offer tips, advice, and encouragement.

BB, I have a thread coming up after my 2-3 thread storyline involving Raggy's decent into the abyss after a legendary and theoretically unobtainable material. It's not that the material itself is unobtainable, it's just in a difficult to reach location, and surrounded by unknowable mind melting horrors, so it stands to reason that it's practically unobtainable.

What does this have to do with your army battle idea? Well, it had nothing to do with it at first, but after careful consideration, I realized the possibility was there.

See, Raggy takes the Pandemonium to a demi-plane called Eternity's forge. It's between The Pyre, and The Containment. Fed by The Pyre's flames, and using the power of The Containment's forges, Eternity's Forge contains what could be thought of as the most powerful forge in Althanas, The Forge of Eternity. It is here that the Pandemonium will be forged into a weapon and armor.

So getting to the point, I realized it was possible for certain persons in positions of power to realize what was about to happen, and understand that if Rahegalhoff successfully gained his weapon and armor, very bad things would come to pass.

Now, when he goes there, he goes with an army of monks to protect him from the extra-planar dangers, so that's one army.

What would these persons in power do? Round up their own army to go stop him. So that's where you and other interested parties come in. In this army battle thread, it would be your job to try and stop the forging of Raggy's armor. I start out with a head start, because I'm evil like that, but it's possible to both catch up to the blacksmiths, and stop them, provided you make your way through the army of monks. (realize their not normal monks, their not even human/elven/*insert favorite species here*.)

That is of course, if your interested. I can totally do that thread solo if your not. Take time to think about it fully, let it roll around in your mind, and give it space to ferment.

There would be only two armies, mine, and the opposition, however each PC would act as a leader/be a member of the army, and increase it's size by a few thousand. For as large as your army would be, so too would mine be, and I'd be open to those who would actually side with me, those who want the dire consequences of Rahegalhoff getting his weapons and armor to come to pass. They too would be accounted for in army size.

The battlefield itself would be a large gisela like plain, with some differences.

lol well Raheg, i think you got yourself a battle, so your saying thousands of monks? what if i pick 500 npc level 0 characters? not just nameless npc's weaker then sin, but actual named npc's with some decent skill

almost as if i made all the npc, my own character's

Then so too shall The Brotherhood of Darkness grow in strength. My army shall mirror your own. Simply name your terms, for both sides must begin in perfect balance.

Later, after I get some rest in, I shall describe more accurately what makes the monks so dangerous.

Bear in mind, you must wait the intermitent RL weeks for me to write the aforementioned Abyss Threads. (2-3 threads total with a Bazaar thread in between)

But then just as well, we can take the time to perfectly plan this out and make the conclusion privately fore gone <sp?> between the two of us, leaving the results a surprise for our dear readers.
