Morty
03-21-09, 01:09 PM
Name:Mortimer Bayl
Age: 26
Race: Human, though with unique abilities.
Hair Color: His hair color can change to whatever color he chooses, but his favorite is a crimson red.
Eye Color: His eyes can also change to whatever colors he wants, and like his hair his favorite is a crimson red.
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 150 Lbs.

Personality: Mortimer has a very unique personality. He of course has a sense of humor, and finds just about everything funny no matter what it is. Oddly, Morty doesn’t like to see scantily dressed women, for he believes that “For the good of the children” they should be dressed properly. He's very loud, and will just about always speak his mind. Morty dislikes people that are no fun, and are always serious, and he always seems to be in a place at the most convenient times.

Appearance: Clothing-wise, his appearance always changes, but he has a sort of suit that he wears most often. Usually, its a simple blue suit with black shoes. His black and blue striped Top-Hat is the only thing that never changes.

Skills:

Swordsmanship- Morty's always been fascinated with a sword so he knows how to use one pretty decently.

Flexibility- As long as he wears his hat, Morty is about 2x more flexible than the normal human. A very odd ability that he loves to use whenever he can

Amputation- Another ability Morty can use as long as he has his hat, he finds it funny and usually uses it to pull pranks with people. With this ability Morty can "Lose" body parts as if they had been cut or blown off, though its really a sort of illusion because its still really there, of course anyone skilled with magic can see through it, usually ruining Morty's fun. It has no real use other than just for fun.

Knowledge- Because of the hat, Morty knows more than he should, meaning he is pretty smart.

Equipment:

The Cane: A black cane topped with a golden orb, usually kept inside of Morty's hat, and like the hat, it has many abilities though the only one known to Morty at the time is that it can shift its form into that of a three foot long steel longsword.

The Cloth: A magic black & White cloth kept inside Morty’s hat. Its only purpose is to cover up any scantily dressed women he might come across. It wraps around any part of their body that isn’t covered up and forms the necessary article of clothing.

Familiars:

The Hat: Morty's seemingly normal blue top-hat. With him always, it is far from normal, and is what has allowed Morty to gain all of his abilities. On the inside of the hat is a void, or a portal, as Morty calls it, that allows him to store whatever he wants in it no matter what the size is, and he uses it to smuggle things inside of places. Another ability the hat possesses is that a number of sounds can be played from it at Morty's will, he usually uses this for pranks and such, it's a fun little trick in his opinion. His thinking is usually all of The Hat’s thinking, his knowledge is what The Hat has allowed him to know, so you could say that The Hat has complete control over him. The Hat, as it's own being, speaks to Morty through his mind, and finally, will only work for him.

History:

Curiosity killed the cat.

Mortimer Bayl has lost count of how many times he’s heard this in his life, but not once has he ever listened.

Morty was born into a poor family. He was raised by his father because his mother was barely ever around. Like a normal kid, he went to a normal elementary school and learned normal things. After every school day he never went straight home, he always explored the area he lived around being as curious as he was. He’s lived a normal childhood. Having earned the title of Class Clown when he entered middle school, he always knew what to do to get the teacher mad, to humiliate the teacher, or any students of course.

Having just graduated middle school, barely, he was wandering about the town he lived in again. Passing through an alley on his way to a park nearby, he stopped when he heard a voice calling out to him. “Hey. You there. Yeah. You with the hair.” He turned around asking, “Who’s there?” But no one answered. When he looked to the ground right next to a trash can, he found a striped blue top-hat sitting there. It looked brand new, so it was definitely an odd place for it to be.

Morty, being the curious child he is, approached it and crouched down to pick it up. As he picked it up, the hat spoke to him, “Aha! I knew you’d find me kid.” Morty jumped back and dropped the hat, looking down at it. The hat began to float in the air slowly, as Morty looked at it, though because of his curiosity, he wouldn’t run. “W-what are you?” Morty said. The hat moved though the air, right in front of Morty as it spoke to him, ignoring his question.

“Aren’t you tired of living a normal, boring, life?”

“Y-yeah.” Morty responded, relaxing a bit.

“Do you want to escape this boring life?”

“Yeah! I do!”

After hearing Morty’s response, the hat circled Morty once before stopping at it’s original spot, “Alright then!” it said before a piece of paper fell out of the bottom of the hat and floated right in front of Morty along with a pen. “I need you to sign here, initial here, and sign again here.”

Quickly Morty grabbed the pen and did as he was told. The Paper and pen shot back into The Hat as he finished and the hat moved through the air and settled on top of Morty’s head. At that instant, just about everything the hat knew was transferred into Morty’s brain, except for what The Hat didn’t want him to know of course.

“Alright, I’m all yours.” The Hat told him. Then there was a short pause for a second while Morty thought about what happened. “Oh! I almost forgot the most important thing.” The hat said, as it lifted itself off of Morty’s head for a second. “We gotta go somewhere.” As The Hat finished his sentence, it turned so that its opening was facing the boy, and it pulled him in. With that, The Hat vanished as well.

About twelve years later, a blue portal opened in the sky in a mysterious place. From it, an aged Morty fell to the ground below, followed by The Hat, which landed on his head.

"Well geez... That trip took a lot longer than I thought it would."

With a confused look, Morty stood up as the hat spoke to him one more time.

“Welcome to the new world.”

When in battle, please don't use the amputation thing... it's just for fun and not able to re-grow your limbs immediately when in a fight should be fine. I think it's a funny skill, just don't want it powergamed in a battle.

For the flexability thing, please set it so that you are at most 2x more flexible than the average person. That's being nice... :p

Also, just a side note, things that can be in the hat (such as what you say you put in there during a thread) can be lost if the moderator that judges the thread says you can't have it as an approved spoil. By that I mean, putting a golden katana in the hat that you steal, it isn't approved by the mod at the end, that katana's never coming out... haha.

So, make those edits in and tell me and I'll come back to check.

Fixed the Flexibility thing, Amputation is more of an illusion so yeah, I should have put that instead, sorry.

As for The Hat thing, it actually does do that just to screw around with him, some things he'll never get back, so yeah..

Alright, I'm going to assume that 'pretty decently' for sword use is about average or so... which is fine.

Approved.
