Advertising other sites, especially competing sites ('sister site' is a euphemism for this), has always been disallowed in my experience.

If you want to arrange something, talk to admins, but I doubt you're going to get anywhere. One, because Althanas wouldn't really get anything out of it. Two, because if your site actually were successful, it would leech a finite amount of time people have. Three, because Althanas, despite being a fantasy setting, is open to characters of all kinds. There was a giant mech tournament a long while ago. I played a character that was a dimension-travelling technocrat with powered armor, a beam sword, and an energy pistol.

Forums like these are hard to get going. I've seen dozens rise and fall, but Althanas has stuck around. You'd be well advised to just find a home here, rather than trying to compete with the juggernaut

Takes me back to when I played on this other forum... can't remember its name. It was basically a time killer for when Althanas was down for a while (a month or so?) to be migrated. I remember thinking "wow, this is like b-rate Althanas!" but loving my character so much I planned to move him over to Althanas.

Never did.

I was backing up a hard drive that I used during the time between about 6 years ago and 2 years ago and I found some stuff from the old Iron Giant tournament. I don't think it was ever quite as epic as it should have been. I think I got busy and declined to participate...

...but yeah, point is, Althanas is only sword and sorcery if you want it to be. There are plenty of high level players packing technological heat to prove it... There was a time when forwardly anachronistic characters seemed to be the norm...

My character Task IS a technical techno-mancy character according to the genre. He's not from Althanas, and uses the world of Althanas as little more than a play thing... since it's a virtual reality world.

It's plausible to have sci-fi styled characters on Althanas, or even modern ones, you just have to figure out why and then work that into the profile.
