Lucy trudged through the scalding desert sand, brushing a bead of sweat from her forehead. She panted heavily, the merciless afternoon sun beating down in torrents on her. She had been traveling the country for days now, but just today had she reached the Fallien desert. This was the first arid landscape Lucy had ever been on, but holy hell, was it hot!
Lucy dragged her sword lazily behind her through the scorching sand. If she didn't die here, it would be an utter miracle. After several more self-pitying moments, she decided that was enough. "Why am I feeling sorry for myself? That is against every one of my fox morals. I need to keep my spirits up!" She cheered, which made the desert give a depressing silence in response. She gulped down nothing, for her mouth was cotton dry as a direct result of the heat, and continued on ahead. She tried to hum a little tune to keep her hopes high, though that idea immediately caved-in as she grew much to tired to even keep a beat.
Lucy's large, fluffy fox-tail twitched in annoyance. "I've traveled all this way, and for what? To be swallowed alive by a black hole sun?!" She snipped angrily at the cloudless blue sky. "This is so unfair!" Lucy stomped one of her oversized combat boots in the sand, making her knee-length black dress give a slight shiver at the movement. During her aggravated fit, a large, speckled brown, horned lizard poked its head out of a sand pit. It cocked its head at her curiously. Lucy froze completely as she saw it. So.... things lived here after all!
A sly smile plastered on her lips as she slunk toward the lizard, her overly large sword's blade making a steady grinding against the ground as she walked. The reptile noticed her inching closer, and crawled completely from its hiding spot. it lay flat on the scalding hot sand, its eyes fixated warily on her.
She hesitated, not wanting to scare it away, then gathered herself and stepped closer yet. The lizard crawled a few feet away. Agitated, Lucy just hefted her sword up onto her shoulder and bolted after the damned thing. The lizard, alert, skittered away as fast as its little legs would take it. However, being part fox, Lucy kept up with it, though she couldn't quite catch up to it. Seeing it reluctantly slow, if only slightly, Lucy seized the opportunity and tossed her sword aside, then lunged at the reptile. She landed on her stomach, her whole body stretched to its fullest. Her arms were out in front of her, the lizard struggling against her hands.
"Haha!" Lucy grinned triumphantly, proud that she had caught it. However, after a moment, she yelped as she felt the scorching hot sands impact on her poorly covered skin. She lept immediately to her feet, forgetting about the fortunate horned lizard who scurried away moments after its release.
Lucy yelped in her burnt pain as she hopped around, uselessly cursing the sun in her fit of rage and anguish. How could this day get any worse?
