Name: Omusa Wayant.
Age: Twenty.
Race: Jackalope Spirit.
Hair Color: Beige-blond.
Eye Color: Desert blue.
Height: 5'6".
Weight: 120lbs.
Occupation: [Novice] Monster Tamer.
Personality:
She's a fun kid, really she is. While saying that she is "carefee and happy-go-lucky" is putting it over the top, she is a very amiable and chipper sort of individual. She has a slightly subdued joy about her that occasionally leaks into a boundless sort of enthusiasm. All the same, she tends to be a wee bit guarded around most company. That's not to say that she's not talkative or kindly enough, merely highly guarded. She's aloof enough not to be considered obnoxious, and casual enough to keep away from seeming haughty- but only just barely.
She makes a point to remember people's names, the kind of lass to call the cashiers by name in a grocery store. She's also the kind of person who would wait for someone else to start a conversation rather than being the first to initiate in it, herself.
While her temper isn't obvious, she does have one, though she tries to approach situations as calmly as she can- something that doesn't always work out for the better. Tending to phase out or run off when conflict comes into play, she does know how to put her foot down when cornered... and sometimes rather awkwardly shove her foot up her mouth, at the wrong time. A passionate individual, she does not censor her words, only the feelings behind them.
Her greatest fault and virtue is her curiosity! She asks questions, sticks her nose in where it doesn't belong, and generally detests small-talk as a whole. She prefers to have true conversation, and thus tends to avoid smalltalk and come off as being more snooty than she really is. She is callous to all the wrong things, enough to be called heartless, yet she is also so easily surprised and mortified at all the wrong things that she could be called naive and over-sensitive.
Mostly, though, she' fun to poke at. Try it sometime. She makes fun faces.
Appearance:
She's not human, but she's not inhuman, either. Of course, the first things folks probably notice are the more inhuman traits- like the long, lop rabbit ears that threaten to be longer than her hair. A dusty, sand-colored brown in color, both of her ears are pierced by a simple gold hoop for aesthetic purposes. Of course, these ears are not the only inhuman anomaly on the girl- she has another thing growing out of her head. Antlers, dark in color, blunt and shaped much like a deers, they aren't all too dangerous looking.
Actually, she's not dangerous looking at all... and the little rabbit's tail on her behind probably doesn't help to ease that notion one little bit.
From there, however, she's not quite so confusing to look at. A fairy-like face, childlike in complexion and design, her eyes are the only hint that she is not childish as well as child-like. Her face is more oval than circular, her nose is small but sharp. She has strong cheekbones, a western girl's face with a slightly classic edge to it all.
Her arms are a little short, but this is only visible if someone stares long enough. Much more obviously, she has tiny hands with tiny fingers; a source of great irritation for her. The girl has more legs than torso, though she is not without curves visible enough to make her obviously female. All the same, she is no hourglass figure, though her legs might just make up for it. At the ankle, her legs turn into rabbit feet, but that's no matter.
She's got a classic moxie to her, but despite any regality she has... She's mostly cute.
... And utterly dwarfed by her spoon-shaped staff which is a good half a foot taller than she is. She is frequently seen carrying this, along with an amethyst bracelet that she is known to wear up above her elbows, as her arms are protected by a pair of very simple iron bracers. Of course, the slightly large and abused cowboy hat she usually wears to help hide her stubby antlers doesn't help make her any less cute looking.
Like most females, she likes to switch up her clothes, though she tends to lean towards a blatantly western style of clothing.
Lucky for her she can deliver a good kick, eh?
History:
Well, when a Mommy loves a Daddy very much... Ahaha, just kidding. That's not how she was born at all- she was not born, so much as she came into being. A "human" representation of the mythological jackalope, Omusa makes do by being a living and breathing fairytale.
Coming alive slowly, literally, by word of mouth she quite literally survives o other's beliefs in the jackalope's existence. Of course, it would be foolish to say that she is without a childhood or a past, and like all people she started somewhere at the beginning... a little more aware than most children, but a child none the less, in the heart of the desert. As a spirit, she was able to fend for herself well enough- but there comes a time where even the most oblivious, free of secrets get caught by the eye and by word of mouth.
So, she was. Taken in by a hiker in her childhood, she was brought back to a larger township where she was made into a spectacle, a one child circus, if you will. Quite frankly, she was manipulated and used, even as she was housed and made a part of society. She became more real, more of a person, and somewhere along the way, she left that township... a story that occurred over ten years ago.
Of course, to interact with people in such an obvious manner as a spirit- even an exploited and young one, was not welcome. Smote by the powers that be, a curse was put upon young Omu... that is to say, curse of the Princess. When put into the center of the room, or the center attention, she begins to act much like a Disney princess, complete with suddenly-appearing wild creatures and spontaneous song. This is not a curse that Omu much cares for, as it also effects the other people around her should she be in the spotlight for so long.
Is it any surprise that she has drifted into obscurity, kept alive only by whispers of what a jackalope must be? To keep away from the embarrassing nature of her curse, she wears a cowboy-style hat to cover the horns that so clearly make her a jackalope. To the average eye, she really just looks like a western-themed bunnygirl.
If you want more than that, you'll have to pull it from her lips by yourself. The people she's known, the places she's been, the name of that town, the complications of her curse- any and all things that are not quite so obvious to the eye. All the same, extraordinary though she may seem, she is very much a very ordinary young woman in most every aspect. Including the part where she secretly reads romance novels.
Skills:
Basic Melee Skills - Just about what it sounds like, except probably a little worse. If she is stronger than a normal human, physically... It's not something that is very obvious at all, and only fractionally so. She is able to use her spoon-flute-staff as something of a staff, used mostly for blocking an attack or going forward to beat someone. Sure, the way she'll beat someone with a staff has more design than a four year old, but her moves are far from calculated as many people's. She knows enough to bluff her way out of a fight or defend herself 'til she can run.
Basic Healing Skills - Like above, except a little bit better. As a spirit, of course her sheer magical capacity is slightly larger than the average human's. She is able to cast simple healing spells, such as cleansing and healing small wounds such as low to medium grade scratches and bruises. Handling anything important is very hard, however she seems to be abnormally good at finding a means to purge food poisoning from people's systems, no matter the means of food poisoning.
Sonata - By using her... spoon-flute thing, Omusa is able to play a tune. This skill can be divided into what is currently two profound-level melodies. Profound-level melodies allow her to effect the atmosphere in small ways, and occasionally the people in the atmosphere. Skilled Sonata-users are able to manipulate the minds of others through music, but this is not a level that Omusa has achieved by a long shot. Currently, she knows two songs.
Skipping Stone Sonata - This tune is one that effects Omusa rather directly, and allows the atmosphere of a person or a place to effect her. In other words, by playing this song she can mildly experience what the listeners are experiencing, by in large through the means of vague feelings both emotional and physical in nature. This allows Omusa to explore the nature of her surroundings, to a small degree.
Ripple Sonata - This song is able to affect others, including beasts, to be lulled into mildly experiencing the same emotions as Omusa is experiencing at a given time. This can allow others to feel a mild boost of morale, or an unexplained, nagging sadness... it's greatest uses are stopping babies from crying, at this point.
Increased Agility and Speed- Very straightforward. Omusa has more speed and agility than the average human being, allowing her a certain flexibility. She is difficult as a moving figure, and tries to be as stealthy as she can- something she usually winds up failing, but she can run away quickly and dodge more easily than a regular human. Not unlike a rabbit or a deer, really, it all comes down to having an abnormal awareness of what is going on around her. Alas, her stamina is low, so her high speeds and hyper-awareness only holds up for so long. In a battle? Maybe five minutes if she's lucky. She can run very far very fast, but she can't run long.
Charm- She's a relatively cute girl. Done. She can puppy-dog eye you out of a piece of that sandwich that you are eating... maybe. If not, she'll use the lip wibble, and you don't want that at all. 'Cause then you probably will give her that sandwich- all of it, not just a piece of it.
Equipment:
Amethyst Bracelet - A simple, handmade bracelet with purple amethyst stones string around an elastic string that she keeps on her arms. It has no true physical defensive properties, though it does increase her spiritual ability slightly, and hence her ability to be active and enjoy herself. While very simple, it also protects her from tiring out more easily than she already does.
Cowboy Hat - Exactly what it sounds like. It's a cowboy hat, which means it's fine protection from the sun, leather protection for the top of her head. Judging by how worn [albiet well-kept] it is, it appears to be something that she has had for quite some time. There is a leather string around it with a small brass coin with an emblem of a jackalope carved into it. It's simple, but it does her great justice.
Iron Bracers - A pair of smooth arm guards that serve to help protect her weak arms, while serving to be fairly low-weight. They serve as a low-grade shield for her arms, though they are not heat nor magic resistant they are capable of stopping many swords or other objects dead in their tracks. This is the only object she carries that's truly defensive.
Chopra - It's the name of her... Spoon-flute-staff, which just so happens to be a good six feet high. No, it doesn't talk to her, don't be silly. It's not that special. However, she does talk to it, and rather affectionately, particularly when tired or when she believes herself to be entirely alone. Chopra was made by her, and serves as a good melee staff and musical instrument. Not bad to take on hikes, either.
The end, and to be edited with time. If you have any suggestions, comments, or if I have done something out of line please do inform me. Thank you very much, and enjoy the read! This will be edited periodically.
