View Full Version : Submission Bug

This isn't a huge issue, but now that I've seen it repeat itself, I'm fairly confident it is not a fluke.
When I check my threads submitted for judgment, it shows two copies of each submission, about two minutes apart. It also doesn't show my comment or the judge's comment.
I've been told that there is no problem on the judges' end. They only see one request and my comment goes through fine. That's why I say it doesn't really matter much. Still, if one of your code monkeys has spare time, you might want to take a look and see what could be causing that. You never know what else the error could be doing...

Additional unrelated comment: I think everyone likes the vignettes thing and I'm glad you brought it back. You really should promptly judge it though. 8 posts that are about a typed page each on average... c'mon. No excuse for being late on that. It's not like the prize is so stunning that picking a winner is significant. Closure is the bigger issue.
Also, I presume the exp calculation is a percentage of the amount needed to go from the current level to the next level (i.e. 3000 from 1 to 2) rather than a percentage of the exp that specific character needs to get to the next level (i.e. 600 for me). That's the only way it makes any sense, but rules making sense is something I'm not prepared to assume in many cases.

I agree that March's vignette contest needs judged.
And the way it works is: a level 0 gets 100 EXP, a L1 gets 150, L2 200, L3 250, L4 300, and so on. It's 5% of whatever level you're on needs to hit the next level up.

Good, that's what I figured. Saying "the amount that character needs" causes vagueness issues, but I understand judges are not professional draftsmen.

Well what do you know, the Vignette thread was judged. Not to sound like a noob or anything, but how can I check on the threads I submitted for judging?

We're not using that system anymore Visla, or at least the moderators aren't required to give you any comments through that (it only still exists because Serilliant has run into some coding issues with regards to the thread submission template). Judges should be sending PMs when they accept a judgment.

Hm, it's a shame. It's a good feature. Any reason you decided to take the system out?

To allow for you to choose the desired amount of commentary (or a condensed rubric or workshop) in your judgment to lift the load on the judges.

I don't see how that has anything to do with viewing your submitted threads. Posting to claim them in the mod forum and having that claiming comment auto-show on the request actually takes less time than sending a PM in addition... and requesting the amount of feedback is done in the submission form either way, so I don't really know what you're talking about.
Oh well, whatever.

Replies in the "Judging Requests" forum do not automatically show up in the "View Submitted Threads" area of the players' control panel. There is an entirely separate internal submission system that the moderators use to give you those comments. Eventually we'll discontinue usage of that separate submission system and rely only on the threads in the "Judging Requests" forum (the reason for this, as I mentioned, is to create a drop down box in the thread submission page for players to specify commentary level). Beyond that, the only way to give the players comments like they are used to will be through PMs. Does that make sense?

Sure. Whatever floats your boat.
I would have sworn the reply in the thread generated by the request used to automatically show up, but that was... four years ago? I wouldn't be shocked to be wrong.
