so I'm fifteen, and I don't have a job for this summer. What are some good entrepreneurial jobs that I can do? Any ideas, or suggestions? Any job will suffice.

1) I'm not really sure this is the correct sub-forum
2) You're fifteen, take it easy, no one is going to care what you did this summer when your resume really matters
3) The global economy is likely to be unkind to "entrepreneurial" kids

Aren't you moving from Canada to the Southern U.S? I'd say this summer should be spent acclimating to the weather.

Aside from that...at fifteen, your best bet is probably washing cars and cutting lawns; businesses won't really be looking to hire someone so young.

You could not waste your time and enjoy your childhood while you still have it.

Paperboy.

I'm hoping that was intended to be ironic.

Do paperboys even exist anymore? Papers are delivered by car or truck everywhere I've seen... where print media hasn't gone out of business entirely.

My little brother and his best friend did quite well down here in the southeast US mowing lawns (and edging/weedeating) for a couple of summers. Just be ready to put in a lot of hard work and most of the people down here will encourage you and be happy to pay you a fair wage for a hard day's work.

Mow some lawns and then spend that cash hanging out with Americans. If you are moving from Canada to Southern US, you not only need to get used to the heat, you need to get used to your new neighbors.

I'd say lemonade stand, but that's probably just out of your age group. But, if you were an entrepreneuing young toddler I'd say do that and try to make it into a town staple full of little enforcers, knocking over stands ran by the competition, and 'heists' because I think a kid version of the mafia would be for the lulz.

Other than that.. flip hamburgers. Most jobs won't take you until your 18, especially places that operate a lot of machinery. If I were you I'd spend your summer working fast food, saving the cash, and working on your driver's license to get it early. Trust me, the earlier you have it the better the position you'll be in for when you try to find an actual job when you're of age and having a car during high school is an instant plus.

Of course, when I posted that, I forgot that news papers don't really exist anymore.

Paperboy.

Not ironic at all, I did do that for a while. Makes really good money, but my mom got tired of doing that. Thanks for suggestions...

I'm ready, and that's what I'm hoping for, because wasting a summer is not good IMO.

Nope! I was a paperboy when I was 15.

That was a long time ago.

Eh, I didn't start working until I was 17, which is now. No. I'm not really working but I am looking for jobs. And yes, the economy won't be nice to you at all. Most of the stores I've been to, including giants like Ralph's, have just been putting me off; telling me to return next week for that one application they keep forgetting to print.

McDonalds

No joke.

Yeah, McDonald's will hire you. Shouldn't be that hard either.

My brother works at McDonald's so it shouldn't be too hard to be hired there.

My first job was fixing minor computer glitches, performing tedious system updates, and setting up unstable wireless networks for a land development corporation.

It is generally difficult to convince such people to take someone in their teens seriously. Much moreso someone under sixteen. My ability to drive when I took that awful little job was pretty much indispensible. I think about half of my pay came from the refunds I'd get for driving three or so hours a day to new developments that required my aid.

Still, there really is nothing like passing the office of a man worth millions upon millions of dollars and having him call out to you that his mouse isn't working, only to watch his face light up in awe when the magical solution of "turn it off, turn it on again" succeeds yet again.

My first job was tearing down buildings. I'd take a sledgehammer and slowly chip away at the brick walls until they were gone, and after work sometimes I could barely hold a spoon from all the vibrations suffered while working. But it was decent work and good exercise. Lousy pay, though.

But I started with that when I was 18 or so. When I was fifteen, I was too busy wasting the summer days on just about anything except working, so I don't really know any jobs suitable for fifteen year-olds.

I'm fairly sure the McDonald's around these parts don't hire until you're sixteen, but despite all the complaints you hear about it it is a halfway decent first job. I learned a lot about how to handle coworkers, customers and weird situations PDQ...

McDonalds is an ok paying job. But it is completely SOUL DESTROYING. Seriously. I hated it. And my manager was a git.

Paper boys certainly do still exist--my little brother is one.

My cousin made huge amounts of bank mowing lawns in high school. He put the mower in the family car and got a parent to take him around a circuit, mowing for families with large lawns. You get enough families to hire you, and you can get consistent (and very nice) pay.

My cousin made huge amounts of bank mowing lawns in high school.Let's be honest though, what kid doesn't make bank when they work while they're in high school. No rent, no bills. God those were the days.

Jesus I miss not having rent or bills....

Back when a paycheck was "WOOT, 300$ to spend on new video games, movies, and eating out!"

Balls deep behind us are those days...
