Musician Eade Walker Found Dead in LA Hotel, Journal Hints at Insanity
Associated Press 5/3/09
Eade Walker, the 24-year-old musician hailed my many as the next Jimi Hendrix, was found dead Saturday in a Los Angeles hotel room. Hotel administration came to check on the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter when he failed to appear for a scheduled show at LA hotspot, the Viper Room. Walker’s fully-clothed body was found submerged in the hotel’s bathtub.
Walker was known for his high-energy live performances which always ended with the musician destroying an amplifier with his guitar, affectionately named Deloris. Walker’s personal life was equally explosive. Released just two days ago from jail for an aggravated DUI, sources say Walker was scheduled to enter a rehabilitation facility on Monday.
Also found at the scene was Walker’s journal. Police say recent entries talk about “the ultimate ride,” and “shattering the wall between worlds.” Toxicology reports indicate the presence of high levels of an unnamed psychotropic drug. Police suspect an overdose as the cause of death.
Publicist Releases Dead Musician’s Journal

Publicist Paul Levitt released excerpts from fallen musician Eade Walker’s journal early today. Walker was found dead last week at LA’s Chateau Marmont. The journal, found last Sunday near Walker’s body, gives clues to the musician’s last days. The journal entries have been edited to comply with FCC guidelines:

“Getting out tomorrow. Jail sucks. No one will let me see Deloris. Ronnie said he could hook me up with his guy as soon as they let me out. $150,000.00! Lot of money for one f-ing ride. The ultimate ride tho, Ronnie says. Worth it, hopefully. It’s my last chance. If I don’t get there soon I think I’ll be stuck forever. F-k! This body itches. I have to go.”

“Met with Ronnie’s guy. Gave him my car as payment, my f-ing business manager froze my accounts. Rehab he says – rehab then the money. The paper he had said power of attorney. Did I actually sign that sh-t? Doesn’t matter. The money won’t be good there. Let the leeches have it. It’ll shatter the wall between worlds the guy said. I wonder if it will hurt.”

“Took the thing twenty minutes ago. It’s getting hard to write. My lungs hurt – like I’m not breathing air anymore. The room is dark. I need the lights but I can’t find them. The switch – no, the bulbs…I can’t find the bulbs. I’m scared.”

“One hour. I’m dying. Can’t breathe. Air is not for me. Found the bulbs, but they’re far away. F-k Ronnie. This was a bad idea. I NEED THE BULBS! F-K! I’ll never make it walking. Too far to go. Maybe somehow else. Maybe’s I’ll swim.”

Name: Eade Walker
Age: 24
Race: Human
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Hazel
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 130lbs
Occupation: Musician
Appearance: Strung out is a good way to describe Eade. His black hair is limp and oily and his eyes always seem bloodshot, the red in them made brighter by the contrast of the dark bags underneath. Upon arriving in Althanas he conned some local merchant into giving him some clothes - leather pants and a vest over a simple wool shirt. His guitar, Deloris, is strapped comfortably over his back.
History: See above
Skills:
Break the Stage: Despite a lack of formal training, Eade is very adept at smashing things – whether it be furniture, or some unlucky person’s face – with his beloved Deloris. His skill at using Deloris as a weapon is above average.
Rockstar Constitution: Years of treating his body like crap has given Eade high pain tolerance and moderate resistance to substances that affect the body. A knife to the gut is still a knife to the gut, but Eade may be able to swing his baby one or two more times before falling.
Rebel Yell: Eade’s voice has always been strong, but the natural magic of Althanas has made it a weapon. Three times per day Eade can unleash a sonic shout that temporarily stuns opponents and pushes them back. Opponents are stunned for 10 seconds and pushed back five feet. The yell can also shatter materials up to soft wood.
Incite the Crowd: Eade rarely put on a show where someone’s nose didn’t get broken. Once per day Eade can perform a song that amplifies the emotions currently felt by one target. The amplification lasts for two minutes after the song ends and Eade has no control over how the increased emotions are displayed.
Perfect Pitch: Eade is a musical prodigy, though his style is a bit raw and unrefined for some tastes. His manager always said he needed more practice if he wanted to reach a wider audience. Except as stated above, Eade’s musical prowess grants him no additional abilities. (This is really just for role playing purposes)
Equipment:
Being new to the world, Eade has very little. He’s managed to pick up some simple clothes and shoes. His only valuable item is Deloris.
Familiars:
Deloris: Deloris is a Gibson custom Les Paul electric guitar…and a total wench. She loves to be babied and if Eade doesn’t give her the attention she needs, he’ll never hear the end of it. She loves the way breaking things makes her feel and because, in her opinion, she’s the finest thing ever made, she can’t tolerate things she finds ugly or unpleasing to the ear. Though she’s made of wood she’s hard as steel and has the ability to repair, over time, minor damage done to her frame.
(Note: It's hard for me to tell the correct power level for a 0-level character. If I have too much, or too little in your opinion, please let me know. Thanks!)
