View Full Version : Medusa

Medusa
05-11-09, 11:43 PM
Name: Medusa
Age: Irrelevant
Race: Apparently human
Hair Color: Bald
Eye Color: White
Height: 6'6
Weight: 120 lbs

Personality: So far as anyone knows, the assassin Medusa has only ever spoken to one person, and that is his employer. You could say that he possesses a very 'business oriented' persona, and rarely ever do words come into play in his chosen line of business.

Appearance: Medusa is a rather menacing figure, to say the least. Standing at a towering six foot six, but weighing in at just one hundred twenty pounds, the assassin is little more than a wraith, a nightshade, or ghost. Long skeletal limbs creep like spider's legs from his ghoulishly thin body. An expression of sinister concentration marks his pale and bony face at all times like that of a starving beast, desperate and one minded, focused only on the task at hand. His body is bald of all hair. There are no finger or toenails marking his appendages.

His thin, pursed lips are colored an unhealthy dark purple from some unnatural cause. His dulled white eyes and tiny bat like ears betray a superhumanly keen perception. His appearance is the embodiment of cruelty, torture, famine and death.

Medusa is clothed in a black hooded cloak which lies tattered and punctured at its tail. Its folds lose themselves in the shadows and night-time as you stare into it. You get the idea that, if you were to stare at his shadowed figure for a long enough time, that you might blink and realize you have been staring at nothing but darkness all along. Beneath his cloak, he wears nothing. His body is devoid of belly button, reproductive organs, nipples, and, oddly enough, free of any scars. . .

History: Medusa has been an employee of the United States Government since birth. The program, dubbed project Medusa, was a corporate endeavor started by a group of CEOs and major shareholders to a number of the worlds largest financial powers in the early 70's, during the peak of America's protest against the Vietnam War. The purpose was to create a secret assassin with the power to quell any unwanted activity against the United States or her corporate interests quickly, efficiently, and totally behind the scenes.

The hundreds of billions worth of dollars and resources poured into the program over the ensuing years paid off; the program was so effective, that ironically, only one 'volunteer' survived. In an even grosser twist of irony, that sole survivor proved to be more effective than was expected of the entire program at its maximum potential. That survivor was Medusa.

Borne of genetic splicing and engineering and trained since birth in espionage and murder, Medusa became an incredible asset to his creators. His first missions secured his value absolutely, as each man responsible for his creation attempted to pit him against the others. By the end of the week, eleven corpses lay in morgues with no clear cause of death in seven different countries, and only one of his funders had been left alive... the man who Medusa now calls 'master'. And Medusa was only nine years old at the time.

Since then, he has faithfully carried out hits for high profile military officials, politicians, and corporate powers. His list of clientele includes the Coka Cola company, MacWondalz, TexasCo Oil Company, SeaShells Oil Company, Eneron, Haliffurton, the state of New York, three different Presidents of the United States, the Rockafeller family, the FreeMasons secret society, and StarSchmuckz coffee. Not a one has been called to trial for the murders they hired him to carry out

Most recently, Medusa was hired to assassinate a 17 year old boy by the name of Noah and his companions; extra-terrestrials by the name of Lee and Isaac. After failing in his initial attempt, the trio escaped through a portal to another part of the world. Medusa easily tracked them down. After numerous confrontations with Noah and his growing numbers of allies, he finally cornered them in the mountains of Tibet, where another portal was created. Medusa and at least one of his targets were thrust into another world: Althanas. His mission has not changed.

Skills: Though under normal circumstances his skills in espionage and combat would be simply incomparable, here on Althanas, he is missing something of great importance to his health and his abilities- a special chemical cocktail that keeps his mind incomprehensibly sharp, keeps his lithe muscles working at their maximum potential, and allows his combination of powerful mind and body to perform many inhuman feats. He is still a major force to be reckoned with. . . and a substitute for his prescribed potion could be created here on Althanas with some of the right tools. . .

- Combat Training: Medusa has extensive combat training, and is physically prepared and capable to react to ANY imaginable scenario, all leading to the same outcome... his opponent's death. He is very strong, very quick, very agile, and very well trained. Get within arm's reach of Medusa in a fight, and you are as good as dead. Turn your back on Medusa, and you are as good as dead. In a fight against Medusa, come extremely well prepared.

Due to his current circumstances, his body is not even half as quick or as strong as it should be. He has been reduced to the capabilities of an average fighter. He is still highly trained, but unable to act to the maximum potential of his training. To underestimate based on this fact is a mistake.

- Shadow Movement: Nobody REALLY knows how he does it, because nobody has ever really lived through the experience... but ALL have been very surprised by Medusa's ability to get from one place to another in a much shorter amount of time than you would think it would take him. Using this ability, Medusa can float like a wraith across the ground, ceiling or walls at speeds that would baffle any man who has seen his skinny little legs.

He can move at twice the speed of running- or in other words, very fast. However it is taxing, and he is only able to move in this fashion a limited amount (five posts)

- Hypnosis: The first thing that most people see if they cross Medusa the wrong way is also generally the last thing that they see, ever. That's because Medusa hypnotizes men by looking into their eyes, and more often than not, kills them before they know what happened.

The hypnosis effect is very brief, and creates what could be called a 'double take'. For a moment, his victim simply doesn't comprehend what he or she is looking at. High level cognitive functions cease. A quizzical expression is adopted. Death ensues. A very determined opponent will not be fazed by this technique, but even a seasoned veteran will be left dumbfounded, and consequentially, a gutless sack of meat lying dead on the ground, if Medusa catches them completely off guard.

Catching people off guard is his second best talent... right next to gutting people.

Medusa's prey must be within four feet for this skill to work but this is only a temporary setback which has occurred due to a low post count on his behalf.

Equipment: Two short knives (iron), dark cloak

For the fighting skill, please make it above average for training. "Very strong/agile/quick/trained" should be averagely in all but maybe one. If you'd like to list them after the skill and put average or something like 1.5x average in two of those alone. The rest should be average for now.

Shadow Manipulation: please limit it so that you can move at twice the regular speed for only the movement from one place to another. You can do it once every five posts in a battle or quest... five of your posts.

Hypnosis; The skill itself can't kill... but you can kill while they are in the hypnotized state. This skill should not work unless the opponent is within 4 feet. If they are a level higher it's half the affect, if they are your level or lower it can be the normal affect. Above one level and it can be shaken off rather easily. Also, it shouldn't last more than a few seconds.

The knives should be either steel or iron for a level 0 profile.

Question: if this profile is attached to my main, and my main levels up, does that increase the level of both profiles?

You can "link" the accounts in order to go from one to another without having to log out and log back in with the others. However, other than that... no. The exp and gp rewarded is only to one profile. If both characters are involved in a thread they will both receive rewards, but if your main is in a thread that this alt isn't... it won't affect the other profiles.

OK. I understand.

That system is a little weird for me but I'm not gonna throw any wrenches over it. Now my character on this account is approved, yes? and I can begin right away?

Yeah, it's a little strange at first. Basically every character is it's own entity on Althanas. You can have multiple characters at a time, as long as they are all on their own account. You can have multiple accounts working together if you want, just like you would have a quest with another person that's writing with you... you can do the same but the other person can also be your other account instead.

Anyway, the changes are done and this character is approved. Remember though, if you post in a thread with the wrong account it will just be confusing... try and keep those separate instead of posting with the Magic Bullet account instead of the Medusa one.

Again... anyway. Have fun!

Approved!
