View Full Version : Corone needs YOU!!!
Hello, fellow Athlanians. A question for you. Ever wanted to get more involved into the history of the great little world we have here? Ever wanted a chance for your character to make a difference in the events that shape the environment you roleplay in? Well, this is your chance. Corone (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=88) is in a state of war, a war which is far from decided. You could be the one that makes the difference and tips the balance.
How is this going to work, you ask? Simple. Each successful mission you do for one of the factions (The Corone Rangers, The Corone Empire, The Coalition) is going to earn a point (or several points) for that faction. The first faction that gathers 10 points wins and gets to form a new government. If none of the factions gathers enough points in 3 months, then the faction with most points wins. Whichever faction wins, at the end of the allocated three months I will make an official thread in which we all get a chance to roleplay the final victory of whichever faction. For a thread that scores below 40, no points will be given. For quests scoring between 40 and 60, one point will be given. For quests between 60 and 80, two points. And for those over 80, three points. Also, there's a minimum of two people per thread, just to make this more fun for everybody.
What’s in it for you, you ask? Well, there are always rewards. Each faction offers different kind of rewards for your allegiance. Also, your actions will be recorded in the official history of Corone (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=88) which will be updated after the end of the war. You can be the hero. You can be the villain. You can make a difference.
I will offer several missions for all sides. However, you are by no means limited to these ideas alone. If you have something else in mind, your own way to help the faction that you prefer, you can by all means run with it. Just post a link here once you’re done and if you truly helped one of the sides, you reap the same benefits and they get the points. Any questions you might have can be posted here or sent to me via PM (I prefer this, so as not to clutter this thread). Also, post here to claim one of the missions. Do not take these missions lightly, though. You are holding the destiny of a region in your hands.
Anyways, onto the missions...
THE CORONE RANGERS (http://www.althanas.com/world/showpost.php?p=12658&postcount=9)
Bonus: all experience awarded for successfully completing a mission for the Rangers is boosted by 50%
1. Akashima Alliance (Claimed by Adventwings) – In a war standing at the edge of sword, even the smallest of allies could tip the balance. The province of Akashima, a semi-sovereign region within the Corone borders, has taken a neutral stance regarding the Civil War, sealing up their borders and distancing themselves from the conflict. However, their experienced warriors and their fleet of warships could be a valuable asset, so both the Empire and the Rangers seek to win their favor. Your mission is to negotiate Akashima’s allegiance for the Corone Rangers, but do be careful. The Empire has dispatched their emissaries as well, and they are not known to play a fair game.
2. Sea Supremacy – Throughout the war so far, the Empire’s fleet seemed invincible, but their naval victories came not only through the strength of numbers. Their flagship, the CNS Colossus, is an impregnable floating fortress, protected by numerous cannons, an armor plating and several members of the Scarlet Brigade. The security is not surprising given the fact that most tactical decisions are made aboard the Colossus and then relayed to the rest of the fleet by a number of telepaths. A Corone Marshal, Tenniel, has infiltrated the CNS Colossus several days ago with the intention of sinking the vessel, but so far there has been no word from the elf. Your mission is to sneak aboard the Empire’s flagship, rescue Tenniel if he happens to be alive and do as much damage as possible.
3. Down Under – Comb Mountains have been a natural barrier between Empire’s Radasanthia barony and the Rangers’ Concordia. With the only passage through the mountains heavily guarded by the Empire, the Rangers need to seek alternative routes through the mountains. There is a rumor that almost a millennia ago, in the time of Demon Wars, the dwarves dug their tunnels deep beneath the Comb Mountains. Your mission is to scout out these passages and discover whether or not they are passable for a larger number of soldiers. But be aware; there’s a good possibility that a number of creatures made their lairs during the centuries the tunnels were without upkeep.
4. Scarlet Brigade We Are Not (Claimed by 016573) – When the Coalition took command over the Scarlet Brigade and decided to turn them into undead monstrosities, a small number of the Brigade’s members refused obedience and went AWOL. Some of these traitors were caught and executed, but most were far too experienced and cunning to be apprehended. Instead, they went underground and haven’t been heard since. Your mission is to track down this small band of fallen heroes and convince them to join with the Corone Rangers. Beware, the former Brigade members are highly skilled and are likely to be hostile towards whoever seeks them out.
5. Evacuation (Claimed by Kade/Vramii) – In war, there are battles you simply cannot win. One of those battles would be the Battle for Evenhand, a small town at the foot of Comb Mountains. The town has been under constant attack of the Empire and the Rangers’ tacticians decided it is no longer worth defending. The Empire is preparing for one final push, one final wave of attacks that would completely surround the town and conquer it once and for all. Your mission is to evacuate everybody; nobody gets left behind. But beware, the Empire’s army might be upon you sooner than you expect.
THE CORONE EMPIRE (http://www.althanas.com/world/showpost.php?p=12658&postcount=9)
Bonus: all successfully completed missions will be rewarded by a special enchanted item by the Empire (if the player doesn’t specify the item, the moderator will assign one accordingly).
1. Burn, Baby, Burn (Claimed by Dischordant) – More and more villages and towns in the Yarborough barony are swearing allegiance to the Corone Rangers and the Corone Empire is slowly losing foothold in this region. The Viceroys demand that these settlements be made example of. Your mission is to lead one of many mounted raiding squads that will swoop in on these treacherous settlements and burn them to the ground should they refuse to cast away their rebellious ideas. Keep in mind that the more places you raze, the greater the chances are that the Rangers would notice it and dispatch their troops.
2. Hold The Line (Claimed by Miku) – On the border between the Tylmerande barony and the Concordia Forest there is a fortress the locals call the Old Stalwart. Positioned next to the South Road, this citadel is perfect for controlling any and all traffic going down one of two most frequented roads in Corone. The only problem is that it has been abandoned for years now, and there’s a possibility that the Corone Rangers placed their sentries within its decrepit walls. Your mission is to retake the Old Stalwart, defend it against all possible attacks until the Empire sends reinforcements.
3. River Raiding (Claimed by Fantesticles) – Though the Empire has dominance over the sea, there is a small fleet of ships that have been a thorn in their side. About a dozen of light frigates, retrofitted with the newest batch of Alerar cannons, were stolen from Empire’s river shipyards and have since been under the control of the Rangers, wreaking havoc on all river routes. Most of the Empire fleet’s ships are too large to enter the narrow river passages, but a small force of light steamboats could track down these troublesome ships and destroy them. Your mission is to man one such steamboat and do your best against the rebels. There is a possibility, however, that this mission is merely a way for the Empire to scout out the river passages and the power of the Rangers’ fleet, so don’t expect too much support.
4. Protect The Convoy (Claimed by Kade Underbough) – A content soldier is a well-paid soldier and the Corone Empire knows that. That’s why the convoys carrying the monthly wages for the soldiers must be on schedule. But the schedule is harder to keep the closer one gets to the front lines, and this convoy in specific is headed to the South Passage and the Eli/Old Eli Forts deep in the Comb Mountains. The road is bound to be treacherous and the Rangers are almost certain to attack it, but they are not the only threat. Some of the local folk, to whom the war only brought poverty and death, might try to stop the convoy as well. Your mission is to make sure that the convoy carrying the gold safely crosses the distance between Radasanth and the two forts in the Comb Mountains.
5. The Empire Wants YOU! (Claimed by Mutant_Lorenor) – Despite having significantly more soldiers than the Rangers, the Corone Empire is always on the lookout for new recruits. There are many men, both young and experienced, who would join the Empire’s cause with a proper... incentive. Your mission is to recruit as many people as possible and give them some basic training. Whether you persuade them into joining, offer them money or just drag them into the training camps, the Empire doesn’t care just as long as there’s a steady flow of new recruits. The local community might be your greatest enemy here because most are not sympathizers of the new government.
THE COALITION (http://www.althanas.com/world/showpost.php?p=12658&postcount=9)
Bonus: All GP rewards for successfully completing a mission for the Coalition are tripled
1. Bloody Negotiations – The Braid Island is a rather insignificant isle several miles off the western shores of Corone. However, the fact that the Empire and the Rangers picked it for their peace talks promoted it to a place of utmost interest to the Coalition. One of the Viceroys of the Empire and Rangers’ head Marshal Edward Stormcrow will be at the island. Your mission is to ruin the negotiations, and do it in such a cunning manner that both sides blame the other for it falling through.
2. Fall From Grace – The totalitarian regime of the Empire is far too solid for the Coalition’s tastes and they desire to weaken it by discrediting one of the Viceroys in the public eye. Antherny Sergio is a man of many vices. His penchant for prostitutes is almost as strong as his gambling addiction and he has developed an addiction to Fallien spices. Use any of these vices of the Viceroy to get closer to him, close enough to plant indisputable evidence of his treachery and conspiracy with the Rangers.
3. Cut Off The Supplies (Claimed by Imperial) – Cathedral Hill is neither a large city nor an important strategic location, and yet currently the Corone Rangers and the Corone Empire are caught in a merciless battle for it. This hillock at the edges of the Concordia forest is the birth place of the Rangers’ resistance and it’s as important for the Rangers to keep as it is for the Empire to destroy it. Its remote location, however, stretched the supply routes for both sides significantly, and with the constant battling, both sides are desperate for supplies. Your mission is to sabotage the resupplying of both sides in any manner possible.
4. Prison Break (Claimed by Gordie) – The Furnace is Corone’s most famous prison, housing some of the most dangerous criminals that managed to evade the gallows. Releasing these criminals into the Radasanth’s streets would certainly undermine the authorities and make the armed forces deal with the trouble within their walls as well as without. Your mission is to break into The Furnace and release its prisoners. The prison is heavily guarded, but the Syndicate, the local crime organization, has offered their help.
5. Steal The Battle Plans (Claimed by Poison) – The Corone Rangers have their headquarters in Gisela and most of their tactics are decided behind those safe high walls. A number of veteran Marshals are at the very core of all tactical decisions, and they store all their plans in a locked vault. This vault is under constant guard by some of the best soldiers the Rangers have. It is located several floors underground, in the middle of the main compound, straight below the main tower of the fortress. Your mission is to infiltrate the Rangers’ base and steal those battle plans.

As a loyal Ninja of Akashima, I hereby request The Akashima Alliance mission, and ask only one clarifying question:
When you say two people, does that mean two living, breathing people, or two characters?
Regardless, I have an idea that's outta this world for that mission and it'd be ashame to see it wasted!

I'm interested in assisting the Corone Empire...despite I.C. situations. Lorenor has his reasons. How would one go about physically joining the Empire and becoming one of its members? For example, joining the new Corone Military? My idea is to attempt to corrupt from within.

Are you sure you should be doing this with the FQ still in full swing? They give double experience instead of just fifty percent more.

Meh, if it sparks activity, than why bother. I'm not into the FQ, but I did find something that really benefits me and my story with one of the threads here. So this works fine for me, even if the double EXP is worth more for getting more powers.
Two people means two different members working together on a mission. Also, please, no alternative accounts. Playing with yourself is only fun if you're doing it to some good porn.
The mission is yours.
I'd like to request "Burn, Baby Burn," though I need a partner in crime. Any interested parties out there?Hey, you're doing the Empire's bidding. It's not a crime. ;) You got the mission.
I'm interested in assisting the Corone Empire...despite I.C. situations. Lorenor has his reasons. How would one go about physically joining the Empire and becoming one of its members? For example, joining the new Corone Military? My idea is to attempt to corrupt from within.CAF (Corone Armed Forces) are fully under control of the Empire, so you can join them. They're always recruiting, as can be seen in the "Empire Wants YOU!" mission. You can claim that one if you like and play the role of the recruit.
I'll do number 4 for the Rangers, "Scarlet Brigade we are Not".
Anyone interested in joining PM me.
EDIT: Letho, is there a limit to the number of threads I (as person) or Josh (as a character) can be in at once? You got it.
Also, any one member can claim only ONE mission at a time. This is to allow as much people as possible to get a shot at the mission and also to prevent people from claiming several threads, but doing none of them and thus screwing over the faction in question. However, if you really want to do several missions for a certain faction, you can run your own quest/story aside from the one claimed.
I'd like to request number 5 for the Rangers, "Evacuation". Then I'll see if I can find anyone interested in joining me. Haven't seen you in a while, dude. Good luck with the quest.
Are you sure you should be doing this with the FQ still in full swing? They give double experience instead of just fifty percent more.Full swing, huh? By the rate that the FQ is advancing, it'll probably be over by this time next year, and I'm not about to wait that long. This is not a FQ. These are simply mission boards with a twist. So pick one or GTFO! ;)

Yeah I will be doing the Empire Wants You mission. I am currently recruiting a partner for the mission. Also, Letho, I sent you a small number of questions via PM's. Let me know what you think about those as SOON as you possibly can. They are some quick things I wanted to get cleared up. In any event, let me know whats good. I'm gonna definitely do missions for the Empire. Anybody want to play the role of villains and work with me, let me know.

Damn, man... Why couldn't you have done this when I was actually active with Farmboy? I was really into the whole Corone Civil War thing and the way we were gonna be all buddy buddy at the end of 'Into the Fray' would set him up perfectly. BLAST YOU VILE WOMAN!
I even thought of bringing him back then doing a 'this is him after so-and-so' type of thing and helping out Z-Man... but with the way I've been sprouting up characters then leaving them inactive for almost my entire career here (besides Anen, my only character with 1k+ exp >.>) I figured it'd be best if I don't. Other than that though... I really can't think of a way to get involved. My creative juices haven't been flowing like they used to...
*sigh* Horrible timing my good man. Horrible timing.

To all who had claimed a quest from the boards: I figure a week should be enough to set the quest up. If a quest is not started within a week after it's claimed, it'll be up for the taking again. Of course, this is not exactly set in stone, so if there are some mitigating circumstances, I might prolong the deadline, but in that case do let me know via PM or something.

But it'll be an exception, not a rule that everybody should count on.
(Nightstalker, different account, but you already knew that)
Yes. As poison can verify, we're in the home stretch, though the liquid time part might not be a bad idea. Coincidentally, its also poison who's gonna be doing the quest with me for the alliance with Akashima. Someone's playing both sides of the field...

It's all good. Seeing as it's nearly finished, I see no reason to rush you or force you to start another, so do whatever you see fit.
I'll try to come up with an intro to Evacuate tomorrow. However if I can't I might not be able to do it during the weekend as I may be out of town.

Question. If my chosen partner is unable to post, can I replace him with another partner that is more active? Also, I would like to know if I could potentially Solo Quest my mission as we've discussed in IM's. I'm gonna do something slightly different from the Empire Needs You quest. Hope you don't mind that, I'm trying to keep a continuity with all of my stories. Let me know what's good.
Sure. If you can't find anybody else, go ahead solo. As much as I'd like for people to work together on these, the activity on Althanas isn't so high right now so I can understand that it's rather difficult to find a reliable partner. You go ahead and run with whatever you want.

Also, Down Under, Sea Supremacy, Akashima Alliance, Evacuation, and Fall from Grace are again up for the picking as I found no trace of activity regarding those quests. If I missed it somewhere, please let me know ASAP and I'll attach your name to the said quests again.
Also, all should keep in mind that this will not continue indefinitely. There's one month left to the end of the period I initially allocated for these missions, but due to the low activity and the recent downtime, I'll probably extend it a bit, probably by another month, but that's it. Since it's about to expire, I'll have Yamihara take care of Akashima Alliance, then. I can go solo on this if you want, but I would prefer co-writing this with someone who can post at least once a week.

Hey there fellow Akashiman...
I misread and didn't notice the two writers per adventure part.
If anyone's interested in some casual sperlunking, now would be a good time :D
Done and done.
Also, given the rather low activity lately on Althanas, I'm going to allow these missions to be done as solos. So Duffy (and anybody else who's having trouble finding active companions), go for it.
For the same reason, I'm extending the period until at least some of the quests from the list are finished and judged. Because without finished quests the whole system is rather pointless.
I've gotten Duffy involved with Lorenor to get more aid with the coming conflict with Lucian Lacorre so I'm going to have to put this one down - me and Poison are still working on Corone Rangers and should have it down before the end of the month, if we don't, blame her :P *Angelic grin.*

This mission board/event has been inactive for a long time, and unfortunately Letho is no longer a moderator. However, if you like the storyline prompt there's no reason you can't use it. Just be aware that the conflict this board is based around isn't necessarily representative of Corone's present. Of course, due to the laws of liquid time, you can write about any time period you want!
If you're still interested, just post here again to let me know and I'll edit your name into the first post. Why not? A mission board is a mission board. You may have inspired me to finish my own job from this board :P

Hail Canon Master. That being the case, would you consider re-activating and running this board in Letho's stead? Josh has unfinished business with the coalition, not to mention my outstanding quest.

I am just stating that my quest with 016573, Death and Taxes, will hopefully be included as a quest for points under this system, under the aegis of the Rangers. Why it will become such should be apparent with time.

I would like mine and Caitie's thread Baby This Night (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?22478-Baby-This-Night-(for-CaitieGirl)) considered a part of the war. Though its main focus is not on actually fighting the Empire, the civil war is integral to the storyline, and Underwood would have surely fallen had we not killed all those werewolves. Though I posted it in the PP I'm gonna have it archived in Corone.

Would a mission from the Ravenheart Academy's mission board count as part of the war?

In character, it reflects the events. However you cannot "stack" rewards from the TF with Regional Events, nor should any threads in Underwood/invoking training forum rules be considered an OOC part of the war's points system. If other moderators disagree I'd be willing to compromise, but that's my feeling.
