View Full Version : A PG idea...

Yeah, as some of you may know, I'm not a powergroup person myself. In all my time on Althanas, I joined maybe two or three on all my accounts and tried to start one waaaay back that pretty much died as soon as it was approved. But I had an idea while working today, so I wanted to see if there's potential interest.

The basic premise is this: There is a legend, a story that only a few know about. It says that, when the land of Corone is dire need, it'll awake and call upon her knights to defend her. The last time this happened was during the Demon Wars, when the victories of the elven hero Radasanth came to pass only because he led a group of these fabled knights. Supposedly, these knights are in stasis when the times are peaceful, awaking only when the land is ravaged by some evil or other.

Yes, there's a lot of "supposedly" and "maybe" or whatever, but that's supposed to be the point at the beginning. I planned to start this PG off with a quest, before it's even officially a PG. A quest would consist of a couple of people joining Letho in the search of the resting place of these knights, where he plans to awake them so they would aid him in the Civil War. However, once the group finally gets to this tomb (or whatever), all they find is a bunch of skeletons. Then Radasanth himself appears as a vision and tells Letho basically that the Knights are not to be found in this tomb, but amidst the people of Corone. Letho would then be given the Heart of Corone, which (other than being an uber cool weapon which binds him to the land) allows him to appoint knights that would aid him in these troubled times.

So basically, it would be a group of people whose goal is to put an end to all injustice in Corone, starting with the damned war. If timed correctly, the group could hit off just as the mission boards are done, just in time to lead whichever faction wins. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Every knight that Letho appoints (the recruitment would most likely be done through quests) gets an ability that makes him stronger if he's fighting with his brothers. United in a cause, united on a battlefield, the knights would be practically indestructible because each would be empowered by the very land they are fighting for. Also, I thought that every new knight would be given a weapon, wielded by one of their predecessors. Those joining Letho in the first quest for the sleeping knights would be the first to get a chance to join the PG, but wouldn't be obliged to, of course.

Now, this is all just an idea and I'm not even entirely certain that I'll make this PG, especially in this time of lessened activity. But I wanted to see if there are people who'd be interested in joining one such group and stay dedicated to it for an extended period of time. Thank you in advance for your replies.

Tears I shed, for your idea is such a beautiful plan of brotherhood. Oh, dear heart be still. I will join your cause!

Very cool idea Letho... exactly the kind of thing I'd like to do once my current war threads are completed. Hopefully I can catch you on AIM to toss a few ideas around. ICly Josh would get connected through some of the NPCs I've got him working with.

That sounds terrific. If I get back into the swing of things with Braden here, then sign me up.

Its a nice idea. Not something any of my characters could take part in, but have fun going with it.

Sounds so wonderful and epic.

If I played more than Yari I would say sign Tye Sanafar (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=897) up.

Whatever happened to that dude? He was probably one of the most well known level 1's ever...

I really like the idea Letho, I like it so much I'd love to sign Zerith up for it.

I thank everybody for their responses and their words of encouragement. I haven't reached a decision on whether or not I'll actually make the PG. Instead, I've decided to do the aforementioned quest first and see how it turns out. The thread is up (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=19257) if anybody's interested, and I'll be needing two people to join me in this. Two pretty active people, I have to say. I want to move this thing at a decent pace, so it doesn't drag out longer than necessary. So if you feel confident that you can post at least once every three days, let me know by posting in this thread or sending me a PM. I'm not really strict about this (delays always happen as there is a thing called life somewhere outside Althanas), but I do plan to make this move instead of crawl. That's pretty much the only prerequisite.

There are several approaches you can take to the story. You could be one of Letho's Highwayman, a fresh recruit in this band of veterans under Letho's command. Or you can stumble upon them in the inn and maybe recognize Letho. Or any other way you might come up with is also cool.

Still interested.
And I think you linked the wrong thread.

Letho

Yeah, noticed that once I tried the link myself. Edited now.

Also, you're in. :)

Yeah, I want in man. Need to write with the Letho.

And you're in as well. That was a snappy recruitment. Post away. Any questions and suggestions can be posted here or sent via PM. I'm always open to new ideas and experiences. Especially if there are redheads involved.

To clarify, we're in search of these Knights. And Letho's recruits are tagging along for the ride?

Letho

Yeah, I probably should've clarified a bit more. It's just that I was rather inspired to write, so I just typed it out and forgot to polish it a bit more.Technically, Letho didn't explain to his men what exactly they're looking for other than a cave in the mountains and that he'll know if it's the right one. I wanted to reveal the true nature of the quest slowly, through interaction, and not just lay it out in the first post. As you might assume, keeping his true reasons for himself will cause unrest amongst his men, maybe even mutiny farther down the road.

The Highwaymen aren't just recruits, though. There are some veterans as well, who had been with Letho for most of the war. However, he picked up anyone he could find on short notice before he started the search, so there is fresh meat there as well.

EDIT: can we keep using this thread for story discussion? I like that.

Damn work... Keeps me away just long enough not to be able to join that quest. >.>

I posted. I wasn't able to get to the fight yet as the post got long and I figured either one of you can do it as well. Feel free to play any of the three named Rangers that I used in my posts as well as others, but Darvile (being young and inexperienced) is most likely to get tipsy and say something he shouldn't. But really, do whatever you see fit.

Shit, I should have read this before I posted.

Well, I didn't start the battle, but I got Josh into position. I guess it's up to you V. Make us proud and very, very bloody. And don't attack the beggar; he'll kill you.

Either of you, let me know if there's anything that needs to be changed in my post. Inconsistencies, stupid mistakes, bad writing, what have you. I'm wicked tired right now and can't believe I actually got that out, but now I'm stoked for the battle too!

Nice post, man, very nice. One minor detail, though. It would take a bit longer to reach the inn from Radasanth, maybe even more than a full day's walk.

Veatrix can bring on the trouble, or you can leave it to me to do it in my post. Maybe somebody could pay for the poor little "beggar". ;)

Haha, I figured I'd leave that hanging in ase any benovolent individuals happened along.

As to the distance, it's a testament to how fast Josh walks, even wounded. I can't remember what my last profile update said but he's at least like, five times faster than normal. And he thinks the Wraiths are after him, lol.

That makes sense. I didn't notice you referencing it anywhere so I feared that you might've placed us a bit too close to Radasanth for comfort. But it's all good.

It would be nice if this thing picked up the pace a but more, though. I really hate poking people unless they are hot redheaded chicks, and I understand that writing isn't something that can be done on a timer and that sometimes you just don't have an opportunity to write, but I also don't want this thing to turn into a project. Because when things change from a quest into a project, they tend to lose the momentum more and more as you proceed and by the end you're no longer writing because you're pumped up about the story, but just to wrap it up and be done with it. I hope that doesn't happen here.

Wait...

*hiss of a hot poker dropped in rain barrel*

never mind.

EDIT: Haha, V's post is awesome. I can just imagine every eye in the place turning to stare as soon as she said that. Well done, well done.

Letho

Haha. Totally. As if it wasn't enough that a hot chick just strolled into a bar filled with dirty and horny soldiers, she just had to turn the attention to herself even more. Now that's a way to start a brawl. I'll probably have something up tomorrow. Got stuck with another 10-hour shift again today. :-/

Yeah, I know. I'm somewhat of a hypocrite, asking for activity and then not posting in a timely manner. I apologize for this. Anyways, the post is up. I got the fight rolling, so you two have fun.

Oh, also Josh, I know you got sick recently. If it's cool with both of you, Veatrix can jump in and post next and then you can post after her whenever you start feeling better.
