Anyone else played this game yet? It's sick... well I think it is.
For a first person shooters, and flying/dogfighting, it's awesome. One of the better dogfighting games I've ever played. I wish I had a flight-stick for the 360, but the controller will have to do for now.
I haven't had the time to try it on Xbox Live yet, but when I get the chance I'm going to. I'd recommend the game to anyone that likes first person shooters.
I've beaten the game about a month ago on a PC with a gamepad. It was pretty sweet. I loved the Ace Combat series and HAWX is pretty much the same. The only thing that bothered me was that fucking assisted/not assisted mode or whatever they called it. If you switched off the assistance, you switched to this really fucked up view which I could never get used to. So I never used it. Couldn't do any cool maneuvers because of it, but still managed to beat the game.
Best mission? The one with F-117 during the night, when you have to get past some wicked flak by using the ERS or whatever they call it.

Oh, hell yeah. When you have the F-117 and have to take out those 3 radar things, while dodging SAM missles constantly... it was amazing. I just finished the game on the normal setting, though I used the OFF setting once in a mission. I just don't like the viewpoint, though I love doing the crazy maneuvers to dodge missiles and get the enemy locked again.
I was surprised by how many planes were in the game though... I didn't expect that much difference between planes, or that many, and I was given something completely different. Which was cool, but I'm not greatly decisive so things like 30 planes and 3 different packages for each makes me take a while... haha
Also, the mission where you protect the satellite launch was pretty awesome, all the way to the end when you actually see the rocket launching in real time. I think that graphics were pretty cool in this game, though they did get a bit blurry when you got closer to the ground. But who cares, the game is great fun and I too would recommend it to anyone who likes a bit of aerial fun, but doesn't mind the lack of realism. I mean, you do shoot down like 20+ planes per mission or close to it... :P
I hear you on the planes issue. You pretty much don't get a chance to try out even a half of them, especially if you do well in the missions and are able to unlock a lot of them. Still, it's good to know they are there. It's always nice to know you can choose the uber cool A-10, even if you'll never choose it since there's like exactly one mission where it's actually useful.

Not sure if you know this... but if you get close to the ground and it get blurry... you're too close to the ground. Hahaha. Plane's aren't supposed to be close enough to see the grass. :p
And yeah, I'm going to go back and try and use some of the planes that I couldn't during the missions... hopefully I can some more stuff unlocked.
I haven't really gotten any really cool planes yet, other than that F-117 which rocked. I'm looking forward to the other cool planes yet to come. Makes my mouth water. Haha
True, true, but there are times when you have to get pretty damn low. Like in the last mission where you're basically flying between skyscrapers. But it's to be expected that the polygons get a bit blurry at such distances. Still, the aircraft models are awesome, make up for it completely.
I got a bunch of stuff unlocked, mostly because I was always saying my wingmen to stay on defense while I took care of the enemies, thus getting a whole lot of EXP. Except in missions where you have to like protect a target. Oh how I hated those missions.

Yeah, that was the only downside to the game in my opinion. I personally thought that it would have been better to have more missions that were straight up fights... but you were almost always defending a target or defending some patrol. There were only a couple of missions where you didn't have to, like the one of the first five missions and the mission that uses the F-117...
One of the few missions where you're protecting something that's actually fun is (SPOILER such as it is) the one when your original employer turns their back on the US and, in turn, you and your squadron turn your back on them and wind up fighting your old buds instead. That was was still great fun, all down to the end where you sink the flagship.(/SPOILER)

That flagship is a bitch to kill... a real bitch. Though from that point on it gets interesting. I liked the one in Brazil too, because that giant Jesus statue is just sitting there in the middle of all the destruction. It made me laugh, except the time I accidentally ran into it somehow...
