Name: Kale Holt Cairn Agroson
Age: 24
Race: Human
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 135 lb.
Occupation: Magician

Appearance: Kale is an average-looking young man, with stone grey eyes and short dark hair. His jaw is square, and his face angular. He typically wears neutral colors in button-up shirts and dark trousers, and will rarely be seen without his long, black coat, his silver hexagram necklace, and his dark, rune-engraved staff.

History: Kale Holt Cairn Agroson was born the son of a farmer, lived the life of a farmer, and learned the skills of a farmer, until his early teenage years. It was then that the magicks that had remained dormant within him until then awakened and changed the course of his life forever. Being that neither his father nor his mother knew how to raise, and train, a young and budding magician, they sent him to the nearest city of Jadet to train under a well known master of the Art, Isaiah Wilhelm. It was this man who taught him of the Kabbalah, the Tree of Life, and how to use his power for the good of others. He now works as a freelance consultant in Radasanth.

Skills:
Fighting Style:
Staff Proficiency- Kale has a basic handle of the ins and outs of staff fighting, by necessity only. Life in the city turned out a bit more dangerous than expected, and he had to learn fast how to survive. Below average skill.

Magicks:
Earth Magicks: Kale has developed a preference for, and greater proficiency with, earth elemental magick, and can produce a variety of evocations using the most solid of the elements, most of which require that he use his staff to focus his power. Sustained spells require great focus of will and concentration. Above average skill
Stonewall- He may produce a roughly circular shield made up of wood, earth, and stones available around him that protects in one direction from worldly assault, but not radiating energies or psychic assault. The strength of the shield depends on Kale's focus and the materials available. Requires the use of his staff.
Magnetic Burst- A single metal object within twenty feet, weighing up to about five pounds, may be directed to fly in a single direction with the strength and speed of a normal overhanded throw, but cannot home in after being fired and are subject to gravity as normal after being fired, restricting range and accuracy. An object may be jerked from another character's grasp this way only with its writer's permission, for a PC, or with the controlling writer's permission, for an NPC. Requires the use of his staff.
Earth's Pulse- He may grossly and violently reshape earth according to his will, thrusting upward with it, throwing objects and creatures with it, or entrapping them in it, within a range of twenty feet. His strength and proficiency with this spell is such that he may only use two feet of topsoil. He may do this without his staff, though he cannot maintain focus on the spell for more than a moment without the staff, causing the earth to revert to its original state, or drop. His control of the spell is also hampered without his staff, widening the radius and spreading the effect thinner than he would like, reducing it to approximately a quarter strength.
Other Magicks:
Lesser Thaumaturgy- Kale is trained in the practical uses of magick outside of combat, allowing him to generate relatively minor effects, such as short-lived tracking spells using blood, hair, or nail. Other, similarly weak effects may be produced. Below average skill.
Life's Lessons- While not technically magick, Kale has learned a lot from his life so far. This knowledge proves useful in his adventures and quest for mastery of the powers he will develop. Average knowledge.

Equipment:
Weapons:
Staff of Earth- Kale has, under the direction of his master, crafted and enchanted a staff of black hornbeam wood to serve as a magical focus for earth magicks. He is not completely incapable of using such spells without it, but his skill level would be severely hampered as noted in the Earth Magicks entry above. As a result of the enchantment and attunement to earth magicks, as well as the original hardness of the wood, this slender staff is considerably difficult to break except by magick. It can be considered to be on par with steel in terms of hardness.
Miscellany:
Magician's Kit- Kale has on his person a variety of trinkets which prove useful in his thaumaturgy, including but not limited to: sticks of chalk in several colors, a bar magnet on a string, interestingly shaped stones of no value, several small iron balls, a small ornamental cup of wood, and a pocket knife.

Stonewall: Please make sure that you don't go tossing together powerful elements of metal and wood to make that shield. :p

Magnetic Burst: About how fast can an object be pushed in a certain direction? I'm just curious because I don't want things moving any faster than a common throwing knife or crossbow bolt would be (despite the range in speed between the two, just making it relative). Also, accuracy when using this shouldn't be too great, if you are using it to throw something at another person.

Earth Pulse seems a bit strong. Could you make it so that it's about two feet of the top layer of the ground. I'm not going to ask you to drop it, since the other stuff you have is relatively weak, but at the same time I can't have the ground being torn up and swallowing people whole 20 feet under.

Other than that everything looks good. Make those edits and you'll be on your way.

Edits have been made to Magnetic Burst and Earth Pulse as requested. Magnetic Burst is limited right now to the strength of a normal throw, so that its only real use is in throwing objects towards him or around corners. I also added a range of effect restriction of twenty feet.

It's been a pleasure working with you, as always, Task. I hope we get to do that thread together like we talked about ages ago on my old account. If there are any more changes you'd like me to make, I'm more than happy to make them.

alright, looks good. I like the idea for the character, and the gist of what you've got going on. I don't see anything else to comment on so you're free to go.

APPROVED!

((Side note: Don't know who you used to be, lol, but I'm always game for activity. Hit me up and we can chat about things.))
