Name: Nathan Estell
Age: 19
Race: Human
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 5’9” Weight: 175 pounds
Occupation: Vortex Apprentice/ Adventurer

----Personality/ Appearance----

The Young man is very tranquil and happy with his current position in life. The life of a Vortex Apprentice leads him to the furthest corners of Althanas questing for glory and to spread the word of the Vortex Knights, and his master Eldaclair. Though he doesn’t know quite what Eldaclair’s intentions are, he knows that he is an apprentice and as such he is expected to follow whatever he is told. He does his best to keep order in his life and the lives of those around him. He does not hold grudges or bitterness towards other beings but he does however fight for what is genuinely pure and right. His loyalty only goes so far and he is beginning to doubt the opinion of his seemingly insane leader Eldaclair.
He is quite the charmer and knows how to please people, but many take his kindness for weakness. He can quickly say something rude on unsavory, his wit comes to no end when picking apart others shortcomings. He isn’t the handsomest lad, but his witty remarks do play a role in his courting of women. The young man grew up fatherless around a bunch of battle hungry knights so he has the mind and mouth of a sea roaming pirate at times. Overall Nathan can be a well mannered young man until pushed to the crude rude Nathan that dwells deep within his subconscious.
Nathan is an average looking guy, besides his charming smile and smooth skin. His hair stands straight up from constant Vortex training and use. He wears a red head band, a black button down vest which he wears open, and some denim pants. He doesn’t wear armor because it weighs him down while Vortex travels. Around his waist is a belt that holsters two steel daggers.

----History----

Born in a small wood cabin not far from Underwood, Nathan was the offspring of Harold and Olivia Estell. Olivia had complications during labor and she lost her life shortly after pushing young Nathan from her tainted womb. During his upcoming Nathan developed quickly, astonishing his father Harold at many moments. On his sixth birthday Nathan somehow opened a rippling blue wormhole in the field surrounding Harold’s small cabin. Much of what happened that day is a mystery, but Eldaclair tells Nathan that he and several Vortex Knights, including Dhur Nathan’s Vortex Mentor, came through his Vortex Tunnel in time to save the boy from certain death. His father though was not as lucky, now the only thing Nathan has to remember his dad is a small silver compass.
Nathan was brought up and taught under the code of The Vortex Knights, he was mentored mainly by Dhur a general in Eldaclair’s army. Dhur taught him the basics of swordplay to which Nathan has adapted somewhat to become an average fighter. He was also taught to use and harvest the powers of the Vortex. At age 18 Nathan had shown so much progress in the Vortex, and he was promoted to an Apprentice, which meant he could now leave The Vortex Knights headquarters and take up small tasks when ordered by Eldaclair or any of the 8 Vortex Generals (Dhur Included.)

----Information on the Vortex----

The Vortex is another dimension to Althanas. Though being cannot live in this dimension, those powerful enough can survive in the Vortex for quite some time. People who harness powers in the Vortex can travel through the Vortex to other areas on Althanas, depending on their knowledge and skill. Also they can store their equipment in the Vortex and summon it at anytime, but there are setbacks to this. In Nathan’s case it takes him some time to withdraw an item from the Vortex. The Vortex is not something to tamper with though. Those who misuse it can succumb to madness and wither away until not much is left of their mind but anger and rage. Also those who stay in the Vortex for prolonged periods of time can wither away and become nothingness, many Vortex harvesters have suffered this harsh fate while trying to push the limits during training or a fight.

----Spells----

-Vortex Tunnel: Depending on the size of the tunnel is how long it takes for Nathan to cast it. A tunnel used for transportation/teleportation takes Nathan 15 seconds to open, while one to retrieve equipment like his sword or daggers takes 5 seconds. Currently can cast up to three teleportation portals at a time, can only transport to his own portals also at this level. Nathan cannot be interrupted while opening portals or they will fade.
-Vortex Storage: Can store up to 75 pounds of equipment in the Vortex, this acts more like a simple bag some characters might have to store their equipment. Though if Nathan stores more than his powers allow him too the items he stores begin to fade and dissapear. To retrieve an item from the Vortex, Nathan must open a small Vortex Tunnel and it takes him 5 seconds after that to pull the item from it (The time is to limit from power gaming, so Nathan can’t just pull items from the Vortex at random.)
-Vortex Travel: To travel long distances takes much of Nathan’s strength, so transportation through the portals during or before battle is not a wise choice at all. Also the distance travelled takes toll on Nathan, to travel far through the Vortex can cause lasting effects or even kill him. Short distance teleportation doesn’t cause fatigue to a huge extent, but it takes Nathan 15 seconds to open each portal so during a battle it would take half a minute altogether too even cast the portals. Once Nathan travels through a Vortex wormhole he cannot pass through another for about 15 min or two posts. Also can only be used twice within a quest and once within a battle. (These restrictions are intended to limit power gaming.)
-Vortex Blast: Can summon a small orb in the palm of his and throw it, vanishes upon impact and lacks in damage. Nathan uses more to push back a foe than to harm. (Can cast three times per quest/battle.)

----Skills----
-Swordplay: Average
-Knife/Dagger Fighting: Average

Besides that Nathan has no training in any other categories, he’s basically just your everyday slickster.

----Equipment----
In Vortex:
(Basically acts as a bag for Nathan so he's not weighed down by a bag of equipment during combat.)
- Iron Katana: Nothing really different about his blade besides the Vortex insignia on the handle.
- Three Iron Daggers: Nothing special about these daggers.

On Person:
-Pack of cigarettes that never seems to be empty, they are strong menthols.
-Small silver lighter.
-Belt with two holsters a steel dagger in each of them.
-Silver Compass that was reclaimed from his childhood home, it appears to be broken but Nathan keeps it to remember his father and where he came from.

Vortex Storage:

The weight limit works for me, and I understand your idea to limit the ability to have powergaming occur... but any items that you remove from the vortex need to be clearly defined in the profile or something. If you get it here you can put it in the vortex, if you get it as a spoil it'll be allowed to be there as well. And when you update your profile you just should list it.

Vortex Travel:

I'd like that if you use it in a quest, you are careful to do so. I understand that the possibility of use in battle is limited due to the 15 sec. thing, but if you can use it in a thread I'd like if you could keep it down to use within a specific time frame. Like, you cannot open one unless it's been at least 10 mins since the last traveling vortex opened.

Vortex Blast:

What sort of damage does the orb do? Does it explode? Or is it just a blunt force thing?

Equipment:

Please make the daggers in the vortex iron for now.

I made the changes Task... But I think we might have a miscommunication on what the Vortex Storage does exactly. I tried to clarify though. The items within are not different from any other item really. Nathan just stores them in there until needed so he's not weighed down by equipment he doesnt need at the moment... Also I intend to eventually make him a treasure hunter and smuggler so to move objects over large areas of land without bringing attention he will store them in the vortex.

Hopefully I clarified it enough.
