View Full Version : Rosk One-Eye

Imperial
07-18-09, 08:17 PM
Name: Rosk One-Tooth
Age: 20
Race: Half-Orc
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Dark Brown
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 220 lb.
Occupation: Mercenary

Personality: Rosk rarely takes the initiative to interact with others, but if he is approached he maintains a professional demeanor, never disclosing too much personal information about himself unless they have earned his trust completely (a difficult task). His personal opinion of himself is a firm confidence in his combat prowess, coupled with his belief that if he is to survive, he must look out for himself first.

History: Rosk was the accidental child of a human woman named Nanya in a small, nameless village outside the wilderness of Corone. During a violent Orc raid on the village, Rosk's mother was the unfortunate prey of one Orc's depridations, and 9 months later Rosk was born. Becoming a stableboy at the age of 10, Rosk showed a talent for taming wild horses, and became an excellent rider. After turning 16, Rosk grew weary of life in the village and bid his mother and the other villagers goodbye, setting out to search for some excitement in a military career that he became rather disenchanted with after 2 years, deciding the combat experience he learned there could do him well in a more lucrative (and interesting) career as a mercenary. Since then, Rosk One-Tooth has been wandering Althanas, searching for his fortune.

Skills:

Weapon Training (Above Average) - During Rosk's short time in the military he had learned to use battlehammers effectively in close combat.

Horseriding (Average) - As a Stableboy Rosk learned a little bit about how to properly ride a horse, a skill he still retains in his memory but is still a ways from perfecting.

Husbandry (Above Average) - Spending much of his time tending to chickens, cows and pigs in his younger days Rosk has learned the basic fundamentals of caring for and maintaining healthy livestock. While it has been a few years since the last time he applied those fundamentals, he still has a firm grasp on them. Knowing that at times the demand for mercenaries won't be high, Rosk knows he can always make a living as a farmhand.

Equipment: A warhammer with a stone head and an iron haft, an iron scale mail suit of upper-body armor, a loose shirt and breeches and some goatskin boots underneath said armor, a leather backpack filled with trail rations, a skin of water and a bedroll, and a round wooden shield that's seen it's share of combat.

ADDITON: His name is Rosk One-Tooth, not Eye. That was a typo.

Hey there. Nice to see a few new people.

Are you guys all from the same forum or roleplaying site? Anyway welcome aboard.

Let's talk a bit.

Skills Sheet. I'm gonna need some development here. Here we use a skill upgrading system. So basically a skill should read "Skill level 0" or something and then we describe the Skill itself. On Althanas, all Skills have some sort of limitation and no Skill is completely perfect as that would be Power Gaming.

That's to give you an idea of our rules.

Now let's break down the Skills.

@Military Weapon Trainings. At level 0 you would have the most basic knowledge of whatever weapon you so choose. Meaning your general skill level with Military Weapons would be Below Average or Average. Let's say ONE melee weapon of choice, and ONE ranged weapon of choice. You can only have between brass, iron, and MAYBE one Steel weapon but nothing too powerful. Also, I would like to see some description of your Military Weapon Training to avoid power-gaming. Here in Althanas we donot ASSUME anything and everything must be listed.

@Horseriding-This is an okay skill but if you word it that you're an Average level Rider you should be okay. Nobody starts off with "Master" level Skills on Althanas. These Skills must be earned as you go.

@Husbandry-Wow this one has a lot of potential! I want to see this skill described really well. I want to see what it is that you intend to do with this Skill and how you intend to use it. I also want to see limitation. I understand that this is a Trade Skill, but nobody starts off with "flawless" skills. An example of this to look at is my alternate character Sabatykos (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=19358) who has the trade Skill of Invention. Hopefully looking at how that Skill is written out will give you some idea of how we do Trade Skills around here. Again nothing too powerful and we should be fine. Also, does your character have access to a Farm? If so whose Farm is it, these questions are important when dealing with Livestock. (My Uncle was a Rancher)

@Equipment. Don't powergame the Warhammer and we're fine.

Hi there, and thank you for the input. Just a few questions myself to help me carry on with this, mostly concerning what you meant with powergaming the Warhammer. I'm just curious if you can provide suggestions of how I can modify the hammer to be better suited to my starting level.

As long as you understand that everything on Althanas is turn based you should be fine. Also, we don't dictate the actions of our opponents around here. Your attack with your warhammer would be something like this:

Imperial prepares his warhammer as he moves into a combat position. Imperial aims at his opponent's midsection, and prepares his attack. He swings with his upper body in a mighty swing towards his opponent's stomach and hopes that he connects with his opponent.

You stop at the end of a typical sequence like that. What happens next is completely determined by your opponent. Also, don't forget to make the edits in to your Character Sheet, and we're in good shape.

@Warhammer-The Warhammer is of adequate materials for a starting level Character. Just edit in your Skills like I asked and you will be fine.

Oh, yes I completely understand what you mean by powergaming now. In the past I've seen the the same definition just spelled differently (godmoding, etc.). Alright, I'll just make those changes for you then.

Excellent. As soon as they are up you can start your Adventures here in Althanas. I look forward to seeing your progress.

Sorry about this Imperial, I was just told some things by my Superior. And I need to ask you to further define certain things. Just keep with me on this. The Scale Mail suit should be defined as Iron. You can be Above Average in your Weapon Skill, Average in horse riding and Above Average in Husbdandry. Please bare with me, I am a new ROG mod. I am learning the ropes still. Thank you very much. Contact me back as soon as you've got the edits in.

Not a problem, I just tweaked a few words to make those changes now.

Be sure to add in the Skill levels (Average and all that) as I suggested them and then you're good to go.
