Odachi

Name: Kazejin Kamido
Age: 72
Race: Akashiman Human
Gender: Male
Hair Color: Gray
Eye Color: Hazel
Height: 5'11
Moral Orientation: Chaotic Neutral
Appearance: Kazejin wears all gray and brown flowing robes that are loose but cut just right so that he has complete freedom of movement without fear of stepping on his clothes. There is a basic gray robe, cut down the middle and sides from waist down as the base garment that falls to just above his feet. This robe's sleeves run down to his wrists and grow wider midway past his elbow. At the wrist it is about a foot and a half wide. Over top is a shorter light brown jacket-like robe that is open down the center and falls to around his knees. It has a simple white embroidery around the inside edge of the emerald dragon Kazen that runs down its entire length. The overcoat has no sleeves. On his head, at almost all times, he wears a dark brown wood and straw wide cone sakkat hat. It is in diameter around two feet wide, and though it has no rope to hold it onto his head it never seems to fall off. Over top his coat is a long scarf-like piece of white material that wraps around his neck widely covering his entire neck and chin then with four long white ribbons falling down his back, the middle two falling to almost his feet and the outside two coming to just above his coat's rim. In the front two more ribbons come down from the scarf to his knees as well. Around his wrists he has similar strips of cloth that only hang about half a foot from his wrist. These pieces of cloth help in his method of misdirection while in battle.
Underneath his clothes, Kazejin is in incredible shape for his age. He has keen eyes that are sharp though his face shows signs of a long life of battle and worry. Kazejin's gray hair falls down the back of his neck in a pony tail to end at his shoulder blades. His skin has grown pale and no longer tans, but is still taught with his well-kept muscles. The man wears his age well, but it still greatly obvious that he is very old.
Attributes: (Not truly skills, but notable aspects of Kazejin.)
~Physique: Despite Kazejin's age he is as strong as a young well-built man, and slightly faster than most. His reaction time is nearly unparalleled among humans and his eye sight is nearly perfect. Other than that, he is physically an ordinary man. (Nothing super-human)
~Wisdom: Collected from many years spent at the elbows of lords, commanders, soldier, and citizen, Kazejin boasts a wide but shallow knowledge of most everything. Life has been kind to him, and his thirst for knowledge has in most part been sated daily as he learns of many things. With his memory being still quite strong in being able to recall even the smaller details of previous lessons, Kazejin's wisdom and knowledge has many times come into practical use. Even the most seemingly useless bits of information are taken up with great eagerness, for one day they may do great things.
The Immortal: A strange blade with the length of an odachi (Great long sword) but crafted to be straight with but a single edge. The blade is 60 inches in length from hilt to tip and is worn across his back in a plain gray-brown sheath. When sheathed, the blade appears to simply be a staff, for the line between hilt and scabbard is nearly impossible to spot. When drawn one will instantly notice a faint blue shine to the weapon, and that despite its advanced age it still is sharpened to perfection and lacking any rust, nicks, marring, or imperfections. A silver Akashiman depiction of Kazen is engraved down the length of one side of the blade, twisting and turning until his tail reaches nearly the point. The emerald dragon's teeth seem to be forever agape to bite into the hilt of the weapon. The notable feature of this blade is that it appears to be made of a material not of earth, its blue shine catching ones eye when seen swung or caught in peripheral vision. It is as strong as steel, but its hardness and ability to cut appears to strengthen with the skill of its user. At the current time it is bound to Kazejin, and if anyone were to try to draw the sword other than him they would find it nigh impossible. The weapon appears to possibly have unknown and strange properties, however none of them are currently known to Kazejin. (Currently equivalent to steel, with a sheath also equivalent to steel.)
Sword craft: Kazejin has spent his entire life dedicated to studying the art of sword fighting. Even in his elderly age his skill, precision, strength, and speed has not subsided whilst his technique and perfection has only grown. Training daily and practicing even when combat lies on a distant dawn, the old Master stays one of the best. As such (and since this is his ONLY skill) he is quite above the average in his abilities. In a battle against those who do not know their weapon and are not learned in fighting he would be at a great advantage. He has learned many techniques and styles, and below are such things that are simply sub-categories of this one talent. (On a leveling scale of 0-10, 0 being unlearned, 3 being average, and 10 being immaculate, Kazejin currently ranks at level 5. I ask for this advanced learning for it is his only skill and he shall never learn anything but swordsmanship and abilities attuned to it. All below are just descriptions of how he fights, they are not truly skills.)
--Iaijutsu; The Art of Drawing a Blade. This style will always be what is called upon at the first draw of a battle, which is not necessarily the beginning. Most often relying on his learning in Iaijutsu, when Kazejin draws the Immortal he does so with precision, striking a single blow, clearing blood, and re-sheathing. When well rested this can all happen within seconds, fast enough to catch an unsuspecting opponent off guard and finish them quickly.
--Forgotten Blade: The Art of Sheath Fighting. A battle style Kazejin himself developed as a method of battling without intent to kill. This style is based entirely off Kazejin's speed, timing, accuracy, and reflexes. It is entirely counters, using the sheath instead of the sword to fight, and never drawing the blade. When the blade is to be drawn, he switches to Iaijutsu or another style. Spinning and using his flowing robes as a distraction to keep his opponents unaware of where exactly his blocking Odachi really is, it is a very efficient method to stave off one or multiple enemies. At his current skill level in swordsmanship he can stave off up to three inexperienced enemies without exerting himself too much. More than that will tire him quickly, and less than that will allow him to tire slower. Due to the method of defending and countering, when using the Forgotten Blade style Kazejin will not be able to attack his opponent at the same time.
--Spiraling Dragons: The Art of Sword and Sheath Fighting: A battle style invented by Kazejin's mentor, it is performed using the Odachi and sheath each in one hand. Due to the weight of the Odachi and the steel sheath, it causes great exhaustion quickly and is very difficult to maintain. However whilst it is maintained it is a very quickly and efficient method to fight two opponents. The sheath is used to counter, distract, deflect, block, or bash whilst the blade is held in reserve to slice and attack opponents. Like the Forgotten Blade style it is very quick and involves a lot of misdirection by using his flowing robes.
--Kendo: The Art of Sword Fighting: A simple style in which he sheath remains on his back and Kazejin uses only his blade in two hands. It is the easiest method of fighting, but also the least effective. He may only battle one skilled opponent at a time using this method, but it requires less effort and can allow for a more prolonged battle. When fighting a vast multitude of incredibly unskilled opponents, such as when caught in a war, or when dueling an opponent he fears is as skilled or better than himself, Kendo will be the style of choice.
Recent History (Very Summarized):
An Inglorious End to Begin a New Glory:
Kazejin was always considered as a judge or mediator of subjects, called upon when a decision went south or when a party could not truly be trusted. Few would be eager to battle in his presence, for fear that they did not know which side he would take, if either. A reputation stood about him that sometimes on rare occasion he would even strike down both sides of an argument, simply to cease a needless battle. So it was to no surprise when he was called upon from his hunts to be a observer in a mild dispute between two House lords. Their concerns were none of his, but they were thrust upon him. When a battle broke out, and his sword strayed too close to damaging one of the lords, Kazejin was imprisoned. Fearful that no guard would stand by while an elderly man with such repute sat helpless in jail, the lord whose neck had been on the line grew creative. Kazejin was sent to the Citadel in Radasanth, and told that he would be free of any conviction once he had slain 100 opponents. Even at his old age, he was not old enough to avoid cursing constantly in that pompous lord's name as he walked down the halls of the Citadel, waiting for the next battle.
