He wears a black wool coat that he keeps unbuttoned, a gray buttoned undershirt, brown twill pants with a brown belt, and black running sneakers with a gray streak.

Graduating with a ph.D at an early age of 22, River spent the next 3 years working with his father on top secret temporal research in an underground laboratory. Making many breakthroughs in the field of time, River quickly became one of the top scientists at the facility. His work lead him to, after extensive testing, to become the first man to travel through time; a total of 10 seconds into the future, granting him Time Traveler Immunity.
For a while, River felt like he had surpassed his father, who had gone into seclusion to develop temporal measurement devices. However, one day his father hurriedly came to him and gave him an augmented version of the watch he wore when he traveled through time. It had a lot of curious functions, including a portal time traveling device, but before he could ask more about it, including why it was made, his father tried to warn him about something and FLASH! The timeline changed, and River was the only one unaffected. The planet suddenly became a post-apocalyptic wasteland, with radiation levels fluctuating all over the planet. River explored the wastes of the planet and discovered that someone other than him traveled through time, but this time into the past. The scientists all unanimously decided that travel to the past was forbidden, but apparently someone thought otherwise. The high levels of radiation all over the planet made it impossible to travel through time using the watch to figure out what happened.
However, he found that the watch also had a temporal tracking device installed, pointing to the location of the time watch owned by the culprit. He had actually fled the planet to greener pastures across the galaxy. Repairing one of the only functional spaceships on the planet, he set off after him, knowing he only had enough fuel for a one-way trip. He landed on Althanas, but it was a molten, volcanic planet with barely enough atmosphere for breathing, much less life. Thinking that the planet was always like this, he checked his watch and found that the culprit had gone into the past. Following him, he found himself on the green planet he thought he was going to in the first place. It seems that somehow, in a short amount of time this planet was going to go apocalyptic. Before that happens, he has to find the man responsible for ruining his life and get answers.

Deductive Reasoning- River rationalizes everything, relying on logic to solve his problems. If there's a problem or puzzle, he has a good chance of figuring it out.
Scientific Ingenuity- He can invent many devices from the most rudimentary of materials. His only limitation is the means to manufacture the materials needed for the devices. Some of the things he could make are measurement devices of geological events, biological functions of the human body, and devices that create light. Rocket Boots- Having installed some small boosters on his sneakers, he can activate them to hover himself up several feet before they give out.
Time Watch- The multi-functional device that he relies on. It can tell time, detect temporal anomalies, and even sometimes pinpoint when they started if he's at the exact location of the origin. It also functions as a GPS; learning locations as he visits them. More importantly, he can acquire entire languages by touch, having the watch transfer the information directly into his brain.
Multi-vitamin pills- A thick bottle of pills, each of them allow him to go without food and water for a few days. He uses them sparingly.
