Wilhelm Heironymus Bosche
Goes by: Wil (friendly), Bosche (formal)
Race: Eudaemonian Human
Age: 56
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Greying blond
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 lbs

Appearance:
Unlikely to stand out terribly in the crowded arcades of Architelos, Wil is average for his society. Not even middle aged by Eudaemonian standards, he is fit and able bodied. His hair is long enough to cover his eyes if it weren't habitually slicked back. His face is round and friendly, with a small nose and placid blue eyes.

Demeanor
Wil is talkative about things that interest him, but prone to daydreaming when the topic changes to more serious matters. He is generous, having grown up in a society which knows no want, and incautious to a fault. His memory for minutia of history and cosmology is staggering, though he could scarcely remember what he ate for his last meal.

History
This entry will not attempt to encapsulate Eudaemonian history, which is long and involved. Suffice to say, after almost a century of open conflict and civil war, the dimensional vagabonds that remained of the Eudaemonian people resettled their home city of Architelos and ushered in an age of peace and stability that has continued until the current day, three centuries later.

Due to the vagaries of dimensional travel, the time scale of Architelos is not commensurate with that of Althanas. While the immediate descendants of Eudaemonian exiles who settled in Althanas still live, their counterparts in Architelos are long dead, even by the lengthy lifespans of that population.

Wilhelm is a descendant of former Director Nijin Bosche Otani, through his wife Jordan. Very little of the legendary Director's blood still flows through Wilhelm's veins, diluted by six generations. Still, as a boy, Wilhelm was fascinated by his genealogy and would often boast of the accomplishments of his ancestors. As he grew older, he delved into the darker corners of his progenitors' deeds and found less to admire. In spite of this, his enthusiasm for cross-dimensional travel, conquest, and adventure was not dulled.

Society in Architelos is a true utopia, but one which has become bland and stagnant. Unfulfilled needs breed conflict but also progress. The old motto of the Eudaemonian state, "Progress Always" still adorns monuments throughout the sprawling megacity of Architelos, but it is an empty promise. The Phase Engine and its portals are only ever used to bring in base resources remotely to sustain the ever-growing population.

Wil resolved to change that and through a series of events to be expanded on at a later date, made his way to the land that his forefathers had visited long ago. . .

Eudaemonian Traits
Most Eudaemonians are magic resistant, physically frail, easily tired, and prone to disease, because of the differences between their home plane and the plane where Althanas resides, called Gamma Space by Eudaemonian cosmologists. Wil notably lacks these feaures. He has conditioned his body in the months leading up to his dimensional jaunt so as to make the transition as smooth as possible. His heritage still makes itself known from time to time, but it is rarely significant. ((This means it will never have any battle effect. In a quest, he might find himself particularly succeptible to a poison, uncomfortable in a humid area, or strangely untouched by some magical force. None of these peculiarities are significant enough to be exploited in battle for good or ill.))

Abilities

Phase Space Manipulation
Wilhelm's study of the Phase Engine, the core of Eudaemonian power and technology, allows him to manifest abilities which are non-magical in nature. At present this is limited to a single ability.

Phase Step ~ Once per day, Wilhelm can travel by dimensional phasing up to ten feet in any direction. At present, the ability is nauseating and disorienting. It can be invoked with a mere thought and the travel is instantaneous, but upon emerging Wil is staggered for several seconds while he regains his equilibrium.

Sensory Distortion ~ Having experienced the disorienting effects of phase travel, Wil can harness the power of the Engine to briefly warp the perception of a target within sight. The effect is only momentary, manifesting as an hallucination that affects all the senses, but especially the vestibular sense. For a short time afterward, the target experiences symptoms similar to vertigo. This ability can only affect a given creature once per day.

Althanian Magic
Director Bosche and, before his defection, Executor Mephisto filed numerous reports on the nature and practice of magic in Althanas. Wil studied these treatises in obscene detail and his mind is full of spells from every school of magic in the realm. Unfortunately, Eudaemonians, by their planar origin, are an anathema to magic. As such, Wil is only able to manifest these abilities with time and slow attunement to his new magical home.

Electric Charge ~ Given Eudaemonian familiarity with electricity, it is unsurprising that this spell is the first one Wil was capable of manifesting. With it, he can charge either his hand or a metal object in his possession (such as a sword or arrowhead) with electricity. The energy releases on impact in the case of a charged object or at will if stored in Wil's hand. The target is mildly burned and most organisms suffer brief and temporary numbness or twitching commensurate with a mild shock.

Arcing Shock ~ Wilhelm may discharge the energy created by Electric Charge at a range of two meters against non-conductive materials such as bare flesh or ten meters against conductive targets such as metal or water.

Skills

Polyglot: Preferring not to rely on Eudaemonian technology, prone to unreliability on other planes, Wil is fluent in the following languages: Eudaemonian, Latin, Tradespeak, Elven, Drow, and Infernal.

Duelist: Ever the devoted anachronist, Wil has forsaken training with Eudaemonian energy weapons in favor of a long sword and buckler style of fencing. Because of this, while he is capable of firing a Eudaemonian energy pistol, if he were to acquire one, with very poor aim. On the other hand, his skill when wielding a one handed blade and a small strapped shield in the offhand is average.

Scholar: For an outsider, Wil is strikingly familiar with Althanian history, culture, and geography up to the point of the Eudaemonian Civil War. He is particularly familiar with Corone and its surrounding islands and regions as they had the most Eudaemonian contact. He is also familiar with various areas of Eudaemonian study including dimensional science, the traditional sciences, and Alpha Space history and culture.

Equipment
Long sword ~ Wil's primary weapon is a long sword of unique Eudaemonian manufacture made of a material that, aside from its otherworldly luster, functions exactly like steel.

Buckler ~ A small rounded shield strapped to his off-hand, this is Wil's primary method of deflecting blows, it is made of the same metal as his sword.

Leather Armor ~ A suit consisting of a cuirass, arm and leg guards, gloves, and boots. The leather is of native Althanian manufacture. Wil traded a suit of fine Eudaemonian cloth worth a hundred times more for it when he first arrived.

Storage Buffer: (obtained here) (http://www.althanas.com/world/showthread.php?t=19584&page=2) A briefcase-sized piece of Eudaemonian technology that relies on phased space to compress objects. It can hold up to 5 cubic meters of non-living matter, which can be inserted into it by typing a command into the interface screen and placing the object against the exterior of the buffer. It can be locked by a passcode and breaking it open would reveal nothing but broken components.
Contents:
Transmission relay ~ A relic from the Corone Invasion, this long shaft of Eudaemonian metal transmits a recorded message of Nijin Bosche urging surrender
Pack and bedroll
Flint and tinder
Waterskin
Small length of rope
Carving knife
Two sets of linen clothes
Woolen hooded cloak
Other similarly mundane items that a well-prepared man would pack for a lengthy trip in the wild.
